Urban Outfitters is an American multinational retail and lifestyle corporation. In the cutthroat world of retail stores, Urban Outfitters has proven to be a long-standing big name currently worth 1.25 billion USD. When the company did not reply, PETA made this knowledge of animal cruelty public and asked the people to keep pressuring Urban Outfitters. At this point, Urban Outfitters had no choice but to do damage control. The company signed an agreement with PETA to go fur-free, and ever since then, they understood how important animals were to their customers. To translate their love of animals, Urban Outfitters carries various makeup and skincare lines that are vegan and healthy for the skin. The cosmetics section has white racks and white tables that are different from the rest of the store. This is to promote a sense of cleanliness because customers want what’s best for their

According to Sidewalk, written by Mitchell Duneier, the battle between the “Fuck it” mentality and turning your life around is a constant struggle for participants in street life. However, street life does contain outside forces through the existing social structure where rehabilitative forces are at play. Sociologist Emile Durkheim’s concept of division of labor is the foundation for which magazine vendors and panhandlers interact in order for every participant

The article “The Science of Shopping” written by New Yorker staff writer Malcom Gladwell, is based on retail anthropologist and urban geographer Paco Underhill. Underhill studies the shopping characteristics through frequently watched surveillance tapes to help store managers improve the setup of their goods and services. Through those footages he evaluated his observations and the statistics to help define his theories with the purpose to make sellers conform to the desires of the shoppers. Underhill, an insightful and revolutionary man, provides a view of science to displaying merchandise and creates a positive experience for both the buyer and seller.
