Out of the eight planets in our solar system, Uranus is the seventh farthest away from the sun and cannot be seen by the naked eye. It was actually the first planet to be discovered with the use of a telescope. The discovery of Uranus was made on March 13th, 1781 by William Herschel, a british astronomer and composer who was born in Germany. Uranus is described to be “rolling around on the sun on its side” because of the fact that is was tipped on its side with a tilt of ninety-eight degrees. The discovery of Uranus was a pretty big achievement for the astronomical world. It showed many that there was the possibility of many other planets existing in our solar system past Saturn. There wasn’t really that much thought put into identifying other planets past Saturn since almost everyone did not think that there would be planets out there. This all changed after William Herschel’s discovery in 1781. While it does mark an important achievement for the astronomical world, I do not think that he was really intending on finding a new planet, since it was generally accepted that there were not more for the past 2,000 years.

William Herschel Discovered Uranus William Herschel was born in 1738 and was known as a musician; he taught, composed, and performed music. However, he became interested in astronomy and began viewing the stars through a telescope that he had borrowed. Later, he began designing his own telescopes which enabled him to view objects at a greater distance. Instead of randomly studying the sky at night, he worked methodically across the entire sky and carefully wrote down his observations.

Last but not least, the object must have “cleared the neighborhood” around its orbit of other objects. Pluto can’t be a planet also because it's surrounded by other planets the same size and shape. Which according to USA today cannot be considered a planet. Pluto also tends to go into Neptune's orbit. Which means that Pluto isn’t a planet because “true”

You may not have known who actually made the theory about this. Copernicus was the first of his kind to find this out and get the word out about this. Neptune was first seen in 1846 from the observatory in Berlin But, the existence of Neptune had actually been “discovered” a year earlier, in 1845. In the 1800s many astronomers started looking for planets farther out than Uranus. They started looking for other planets because Uranus didn 't move around in its orbit as expected. Some scientists thought that it was being because of the gravitational pull from other planets and they were right.
