The Creation of Earth
At first there was only pitch black darkness or as also called Chaos. Then out of nowhere appeared Erebus - a place where death dwells, and Night. Everywhere else there was eternal darkness and silent. Erebus and Night gave birth to Ether - the heaven light and Earth’s light. Night on its own created Doom, Fate, Death, Sleep, and dreams. It also created Nemesis - a goddess of divine retribution and revenge, who would show her wrath to any human being that disrespects the gods. Meanwhile, Gaea the Earth, the mother of everything met Uranus, the sky. Uranus told Gaea “Do you want to get married?”. Gaea told him “Yes, I want to marry you, Uranus”. Together, they produced three Cyclops which were gigantic one eyed monsters, three Hecatoncheires with one hundred hands, and twelve Titans.
Uranus turned out to be a very cruel father and husband. He hated the Hecatoncheires and imprisoned them by pushing them into hidden places of the earth. Gaea, the mother was angered by this and she tried to get the children to attack Uranus. All were too afraid, except the youngest Kronus. Kronus sneaked up on his

He and the Titans, except Prometheus, Epimetheus, and Oceanus, fought to retain their power. This led to the War between the Titans, and the Olympians, called Titanomachy. Atlas became their leader in battle. It looked for some time as though they would win and put the young gods down. However, Zeus was cunning; he went to Tartarus and freed the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires. Prometheus joined Zeus as well. He returned to battle with his new allies; the Cyclopes provided Zeus with lightning bolts for weapons; the Hecatoncheires were armed with boulders, waiting in an ambush. At the right time, Zeus retreated, drawing the Titans into the Hecatoncheires’ ambush, who rained down hundreds of boulders with such a fury that the Titans thought the mountains were falling on them. They ran away, leaving Zeus
One night, Odysseus prayed to the gods for help, but instead, they put him to sleep. When he woke up, he realized that his men broke their promise. Helios’s daughter told her father of this incident, so Helios (the god who drives the sun) threatened Zeus he would abandon the sky and shine in the underworld (the land of the dead). Zeus made a deal with Helios: Zeus would solve the problem with a thunderbolt. Odysseus displays frustration towards the gods because he could have
Both the Cherokee and the Greek started with nothing but darkness. No morning, no evening, only night. Only the darkness ruled in the beginning. “ In the beginning there was an empty darkness” (Greek). Nothing but the darkness ruled in the beginning.
Grandin Kolp Bennett - ADV ELA (2nd Period) 12/6/22 Greek Mythology Independent Research Project: Atlas Ancient Greek gods like Zeus, Hestia, and Hera seem to have emerged out of the blue. Unsurprisingly, they too were given birth by another "generation" or form. The beings that gave birth to the gods and goddesses are called Titans. One of the, if not the most robust Titan, is Atlas. He is the lead Titan in their Titanomachy, or the Titans' war against the gods for control of the heavens.
After the fight is over, the good mind boy creates the sun with an orb from the deceased woman’s head. He also takes other body parts to help make his creation of earth. In Genesis the creator is God, a man not a woman. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the earth.
Then he remembered that Tenes was in the forest. As Syagros was going to find his friend he felt powerful presence behind him. He turned around and saw a man who looked to be in his 50’s and very wise. Syagros asked the man who he was and the man simply answered that he was Zeus. Syagros wondered if it was Zeus that helped him in the fight.
By th’ clock ‘tis day, And yet dark night strangles the travelling lamp. Is’t night’s predominance, or the day’s shame, That darkness does the face of earth entomb, When living light should kiss it? (2.4.6-10)
As Astraea grew up, her archenemy, Helius, would always boast about how he was supposed to grow up to be the biggest and brightest star in the universe. Every time he said that, Astraea grew envious of Helius. Astraea was the goddess of the stars, she should be the biggest and brightest
They flew into the sky and raced after Apollo on a bumpy, swerving ride. Apollo flew his chariot to Olympus while Swinter was close behind. When they arrived at Olympus, Zeus was furiously waiting for their arrival. Demeter had told her brother about Apollo’s actions. Zeus knew he needed to solve the predicament between Swinter and Apollo.
His sons were many including Hesperides, Dione, and Calypso. He was the leader of the titans and fought a war against the gods of the mount olympus. Him and his brother Menoetius were in the Titans side. His other two brothers were in the other side which was with the Olympian gods. Atlas was the leader in the battle but he chose to be in the losing side.
One of the prime reasons that Zeus goes against him is because he wants revenge for what Cronus did to his
The Bible describes it; ‘….the earth was without form and void… and darkness was upon the face of the deep’ (NKJVGenesis 1:2) and a similar claim is made in Hesiod’s Theogony which alleges that in the beginning there was only confusion of Chaos and unbroken darkness.
Darkness consumed. It roamed the nothingness with a hunger, devouring all those who spoke against it. There was no sound, sight, touch or smell. Only the dark. Then suddenly from out of the darkness came light, burning away all that was.
