The American Revolution marked the history of many heroic events that immaculately stand as true inspirations for the generations to come in the United States. Even today, the gallantry of a few soldiers that won independence for the country is not only kept in the hearts of the people but run in the American blood to demonstrate acts of valor at times of war and hardships. One such story recorded in the history dates back to 1776, about a sixteen-year old juvenile, Joseph Plumb Martin, joined the Rebel Infantry and recorded his tribulations about forty-seven years in a memoir titled as “A Narrative of a Revolutionary Soldier”. The book mainly focuses on the sufferings through the tough situation he went through.

The book, Soldier Boys, written by Walter Dean Myers is about a guy named Lonnie Jackson who loves to play basketball. He wants to become a professional basketball player and get out of Harlem. He is on a team with a coach that makes sure that Lonnie is pressured and does good. The author, Walter Dean Myers, has written over a hundred books and won the Coretta Scott King Award multiple times. Lonnie lives in Harlem, New York and hangs out at the Grant.

Mr. Martin describes his memories from a much later stage in his life at the age of 70 in the year 1830. This is the tales of the crippling weather conditions, terrible living conditions and war stories told by a young enlisted soldier during the war. Mr. Martin was born to a preacher and his wife in 1760 in western Massachusetts. The story begins when he was just a young boy who was sent to live with his grandparents on a farm.

First month of Warrant Officer Basic Course The role of the military officer today is very complex, challenging, and very rewarding. The transition into Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC) has displayed a few of those characteristics. Upon arrival to the WOBC we as newly appointed Warrant Officers were welcomed with open arms. Arlington Cemetery is a very beautiful place with a very tragic purpose. It would be nice to think that everyone who served our country got to live happily ever after, but sadly that is not the case. There are many soldiers who make the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives to protect our country. I feel that it is the saddest when the soldiers aren 't able to be identified and sent home to be buried. The soldiers who were unidentifiable they still mean something to someone.

In the poem, “What Every Soldier Should Know”, Brian Turner, details the ever-present threat of death in a war zone. This poem expesses not only the terror of the American soldiers, but also exemplifies the emotions that the Middle Eastern soldiers feel towards the American soldiers. The soldiers are experiencing death, chaos, and disorder, but for some of the middle eastern people, they experience that every day.
