This method has been applied mostly in the treatment of acute illnesses. There are three domains which are used in the model. The self-domain is whereby the people are made to feel their experience world. This makes the patients feel more secure and therefore a security plan is made in order to reduce the threats around the people. In the …show more content…
The touch is perceived in a positive way. There is a precaution in this theory since most of the touches may suggest otherwise rather than the intended purpose. Nonverbal messages can easily interact with the verbal messages. This aspect has been used in the development of a communication theory. The nurses should be keen in attaining the nonverbal messages which are used by the patients in communicating with them. This entails the use of body movements which is used by most patients in delivering mixed messages. Facial expressions and use of touches can also be used in delivering the nonverbal messages (Tee Brown, 2012). All these theories have been used by the nurses in order to understand the conditions of the woman. Through the effective communication criterion, the nurses will be able to know what to give to the woman depending on her body movements and facial expressions while still in the primary stage of treatment. Therefore, it is important for the nurses to read the woman’s communication formats in order to come up with a …show more content…

It will ultimately choose one of those principles that applies best to my practice and clearly describe how I use it. It will describe ethical principles that can be applied to issues with patient-clinician communication.
Further developments by the positive psychologists’ movements with the creation of a tangible international community whose culture is established on strong grounds imply that there would be a need for specialized medical services for the mentally ill. Such are the specialized

Doctor only needs to ask some basic questions about the sickness and give us some medicine and then finish the whole process. We can not even regard it as communications. Another limitation should be what if those patients who are not capable of communication, how they communicate with each other. Finally, it is about the external factors including environment, the patients’ living culture, which will also influence the patient’s physical situation. So if nurse want to apply interpersonal communication into curing process, patient’s characteristics and living environment should be
The primary duty as an ambassador at the hospital where I volunteer is visiting with every patient except those in isolation. I communicate with patients not only verbally but also nonverbally by interpreting patients’ eye contact, facial expressions, and gestures since some of patients are unable to speak freely. In the beginning, I was unable to fully comprehend their body languages; however, I am getting better gradually. Staying in their room alone for a long time, patients appreciate my presence most of the time. They take pleasure from talking about their family, job, weather, and local news.
(Gleeson and Higgins, 2009). In mental health nursing touch is either helpful or technical in addition it can be compulsory or deliberate which has to dealt with care and respect as with all other communication skills. In the contemporary before attempting this skill a mental nurse has to take into consideration that offering touch has to be related to client’s needs. Shawn is greatly influenced by her actions and instantly lit up his mood. As Arnold and Boggs states that body language tells the patient a lot about the Nurse, “An erect posture and decisive movements suggest confidence and self-control” (Arnold and Boggs, 2007, p….). This allows for the patient to feel safe around the Nurse and it is salient to demonstrate they know what they are doing. Having good posture and adventitious nonverbal skills can greatly influence the patients behavior, as they feel assured they will be taken care of, feel more comfortable and can be important in a healing process, as you want your patient to feel confident overall as well.
Communication is described as the interchange of information, thoughts, and feelings between individuals using dialog or other methods (Kourkouta, & Papathanasiou, 2014). Communication between patients, nurses, and other healthcare professionals can influence the patient outcome subsequently, understanding what establishes an effective communication will be beneficial for nurses and other healthcare professionals. Having the skills to articulate efficiently exists beyond having verbal skills. According to Wright (2012), to establish effective communication, a nurse should develop the use of nonverbal cues such as body language, demonstrating active listening skills to facilitate assurance that the interaction remains successful, and having
According to Patterson & Krouse (2015), It is important to transfer the message in a good way, for that the communication skills is one of the most important basic skills of nursing leadership. More than that, communication in nursing can make their job efficiently and help them to communicate with a wide range of people, including the patient, patient 's family, and healthcare providers. However, unlike bad communication, which increases nursing staff problem and can lead to worsening the patient health condition, a good communication saves time and reduces the problem of nursing staff in resaving and deliver the right information. Furthermore, communication is not only talking with the patient it’s also listening to what the patient 's family and healthcare providers are saying to collect more information that helps the nurses to save lives. In this paper, I will reflect my communication that goes well with one patient.
According to Julia Wood (2004), “communication is a systemic process in which individuals interact with and through symbols to create and interpret meanings. However, Sheppard (1993) suggests that, in the nurse–patient relationship, communication involves more than the transmission of information; it also involves transmitting feelings, recognizing these feelings and letting the patient know that their feelings have been recognized (M, 1993)”. It is a two way process. The patient conveys their fears and concerns to their nurse and helps them make a correct nursing diagnosis.
Eye contact also plays a vital role in effective communication. There are times when we experience words that come out of our mouth and the ways we communicate through our body language are totally different. In this kind of situation, the receiver has to determine whether to believe verbal or nonverbal message. Regularly the receiver would select the nonverbal as it is more natural and it truly displays the speaker’s true feeling and intention. The gestures such as the way we sit, how fast and how loud we talk and how much eye contact we make send strong messages to the receiver.
, this showcases the great importance of understanding this topic in order to have a clear communication process, since these can distort the meaning of the message. Although non-verbal expressions are present in every culture, their individual meanings and relevance are going to change from one to another, this is why it is important to not only recognize the overall value of this topic, but to study the different patterns of nonverbal communication from different cultures as well. Since we are studying to become international negotiators we have to be prepared to work in a multicultural environment, since it is very likely we will be working with people from other parts of the world. Understanding how others communicate and how we do it too and not to take everything at face value is primordial for us, since this will help us to minimize
