Sacagawea is a Shoshone Indian who helped navigate during the Lewis and Clark expedition. Her name means “Bird Woman’’ in Shoshone and “Boat Launcher’’ in Hidatsa. Sacagawea was born in 1788 Lemhi County, Idaho. Sacagawea is the daughter of the Shoshone chief. She not only helped navigate around the wilderness, but she was a good spokesperson between the Native Americans and explorers.

Even though no one was killed in this battle it was significant because it was the first real battle of the Civil War. For the North, they viewed Major Anderson and his men as a heroes and the South viewed General Beauregard and his men as heroes as well. President Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated as president on March 4, 1861. His election was one of the reasons the South seceded from the Union. He restricted slavery in the rebelling states with the Emancipation Proclamation.

He married his wife Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson on new year's day 1772 and she died ten years later, they had six children together but only 2 made it into adulthood. In 1800 he defeated his friend John Adams to become the third president of the United States, after deciding not to run again in the election of 1809 he retired to Monticello, his Virginia home, until his death on July 4, 1826.
He was a major figure during the Civil War. He wanted to end this war for freedom with black people. His hair was characterized as a lion in the jungle while he talk he had a rich tone voice. He was very striking of his appearance 6 ft 2 in, he was a slave who free himself. Douglass aunt was a slave and his owner beat her because he disobeyed his rules.

Mr Douglass was also known as a writer for his three autobiographies, which were considered important works of the slave tradition as well as classics of American autobiography. He is remembered as the leadar of human rights, anti-slavery movement and one if the first black american to hold a high United State government rank.
Frederick Douglass, born as Frederick Augustus Washington Baily, was an abolitionist leader, and a free black man. He became famous for his writings about his life, mostly about when he was a slave. He is also known for lecturing many people on women’s right, Irish home rule, and many other causes. In his time, he was one of the most popular intellectual, which means he was very intelligent.
Overcoming Slavery Frederick Douglass was one of the most successful abolitionists who changed America’s perception of slavery through his ability to share his challenges and experiences. Frederick Douglass had many accomplishments throughout his life. His life as a slave had a great influence on his writings. His great persuasiveness skills left the largest impression during the Civil War time period literature. Douglass was considered a brilliant speaker and was asked by the American Anti-Slavery Society to engage in a tour of lectures, doing so, allowed him to become recognized as one of America's first great black speakers.
Frederick Douglass the man, the steamroller, the one who paved the way for African Americans. Douglas was an escaped slave. He paved the way for many people. The African American society would not be where we are today without the works and the upstanding against the civil rights. Self-teaching and strong will, and his faith in religion allowed Frederick Douglas the strength and will power to never give up.
