Thesis Statement In Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken

A Simple Decision Making decisions in life is like growing a flower. Each and every day it may seem like nothing has changed, but later in the future, every choice one makes will lead to a blooming future. Some decision results little to no effect, while others, leave collateral damage affecting one’s life forever and those around them. Many ordinary decisions can end in regret; on the other hand, constructing a right decision can also leave great memories. The book I Am A Seal Team Six Warrior by Stephen Templin clearly interprets Howard E. Wasdin’s extraordinary life of becoming a soldier who protects the country he loves.

I remember reading some of his poems as a child, some of his easier poems of course. As I grew older, I begin to realize his importance to poetry, and read more of his meaningful works of literature. One particular poem, “ The Road Not Taken” is a poem that I read and connected with. This poem is one of Frost’s most popular piece of art, and I agree. Basically, “The Road Not Taken” is about a person who is at a crossroad, a fork in a “path”.

In the poem, “The Road Not Taken,” the short story, “The Reunion, and the novel, The Summer I Turned Pretty authors show how characters come of age through their own actions by making decisions and psychology or emotional revelations. In the poem “the Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost, the main character has to decipher two roads. The two roads have different outcomes, eventually chooses the harder path and resulted his/her best decision. The narrator sees a fork in the road.

I agree with Karl Shapiro’s statement: “The poet really does see the world differently, and everything in it. He does no deliberately go into training to sharpen his senses; he is a poet because his senses are naturally open and vitally sensitive. But what the poet sees with his always new vision is not what is " imaginary"; he sees what others have forgotten how to see." Poets really do looked at the world differently than normal people. A talented poet always have thoughts in the littlest thing that people tend to ignore.

In the poem "The Road Not Taken," the speaker faces a similar choice of paths. The speaker is presented with two paths and has to choose which one to take. The speaker eventually chooses the less traveled path, knowing that it will make all the difference in their life. The speaker understands that the road they choose will shape their life and that choosing the less traveled path will lead to greater

In “The Road Not Taken,” the author writes about two different paths the main character could take, and it is symbolism to real life choices where someone can choose to do something or not. “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I// I took the one less traveled by/ And that has made all the difference” (Frost 82: 18-20). The author says that he took a path that no one else really would take. That means he’s different in his own way.

Throughout this poem, Robert Frost uses extended metaphors to convey that every human has a path that causes them to constantly make choices that will continue to shape their lives. In the first lines of the poem, Frost states, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood/ And sorry I could not travel both” (Lines 1-2). Immediately, the idea is established that the speaker has to make a decision.

Robert Frost was a great poet for many reasons. He was well known for the complexity of his poems and the imagery associated with it. He describes places, people, and interactions between them that you wouldn’t think about. He also used very intricate diction in his writing so everyone could understand and appreciate his work. The reason why he appeals to most people is that he tells life lesson’s in his poems.

In the poem, “The Road Not Taken,” Robert Frost uses beautifully crafted metaphors, imagery, and tone to convey a theme that all people are presented with choices in life, some of which are life-altering, so one should heavily way the options in order to make the best choices possible. Frost uses metaphors to develop the theme that life 's journey sometimes presents difficult choices, and the future is many times determined by these choices. Throughout the poem, Frost uses these metaphors to illustrate life 's path and the fork in the road to represent an opportunity to make a choice. One of the most salient metaphors in the poem is the fork in the road. Frost describes the split as, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both (“The Road Not Taken,” lines 1-2).

Knowing that “way leads onto way”, it is not likely he will come back. The man must make an important decision regarding which path he will pursue. The speaker, on an impulse, decides to be daring, and take the road less traveled upon. He possibly chose the less taken road, frightened by the idea of missing out on something significant. However, the author predicts that he took the wrong path.

There will come a time in every person’s life where he has to make a decision that could alter his life forever. In fact, this exact situation may occur multiple times in his existence. In trying to make the right choices, a person might weigh both options and take into account all the possible effects and arguments for each. For example, when he was growing up, Robert Frost would take strolls with his friend, Edward Thomas, who would constantly face the struggle of choosing the right path and would always worry about whether he made the right decision. In his poem, “The Road Not Taken,” Frost portrays this relatable clash of choices.

The poem that everyone can relate to in some way is “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. This poem has many hidden meanings to it and make it easily relateable for others. The song that related best to the poem is the song “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. Everyone can relate to both “My Way” and “The Road Not Taken” there are a lot of lines and lyrics that make others wonder what would of happened in their lives if they had traveled down a different road. Many times there are different roads that have the opportunity to be traveled down but never do but what would happen if they did get traveled down.

However the author expressed himself by speaking about the road that he took, but the poem is called the Road Not Taken, Could it be that all this time Mr. Frost was speaking about the road he didn 't take? The article states how the poem was originally called Two Roads. Frost then wanted to challenge readers and ask them self question as of what was the poets ideas, what did the author want to tell the readers.

What is important in analyzing and understanding the character?         The chosen poem has confused audiences literally from the beginning. The complication with understanding of "The Road Not Taken" starts, appropriately enough, with its title. The poem, “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost states that in life we come upon many decisions, and there are points where we have to let fate take the lead. “The Road Not Taken” uses two paths as a symbol of a life decision. To understand this poem you have to have understanding of life’s meaning. The author helps us better understand the message by his use of tone and literary devices such as metaphors and symbolism. In this poem we come to realize that life is a combination of decisions and fate.
