As said in the article, “ Carlos Mattis, Lindenwoods top high jumper, had enough of Thomas’s lip and bet him that he couldn’t clear 6’6” in a high jump competition” (Epstein). So, a current track member Carlos Mattis that did high jump bet Thomas that he couldn’t jump 6’6”. Thomas then took the bet. He went to the high jump mat, and cleared 6’6” with no problem. After a while of doing high jump, Thomas found out that he has a special talent. After, joining the track team and doing track meets, Thomas went to the 2007 World Championships. The witches never said he would become king though. Macbeth started to plan out a way he could become king soon. His plans consisted of multiple lies. Macbeth was going to kill King Duncan. He was going to get away with it by getting the guards drunk and blaming it on them. The story says “ Whatever we do we can blame it on the drunken guards” (Shakespeare). After killing King Duncan, Banquo said to Macbeth, “ I suspect you have cheated to win these crowns” (Shakespeare). Which led Macbeth to also kill Banquo because Macbeth didn’t want it to get out to everyone that he had killed King Duncan. After lies upon lies, Macbeth got stressed about keeping all them. So, when he was sleeping he started to sleep talk and let all those lies out. People then heard and the news got out about who killed King Duncan. They then killed Macbeth. So, the new King of Scotland was Malcolm. If Macbeth were to wait to become King, he wouldn’t have gotten into all the trouble he got into. The actions he did made his destiny not work out the way it was suppose to. He could have the right thing and waited for his
Do genetics really matter when discussing a person’s ability to perform in their respective sport? Or is it the amount of hours that a person has put into the craft? In “The Sports Gene” by David Epstein, the author attempts to answer this gene vs. practice question. Epstein does this by including examples of high jumpers, differences between average and world champion chess players, as well as what scientists call the ‘big bang’ of body types, to name a few.

Who is responsible for Macbeth’s downfall, the witches, or Macbeth? Who is responsible for the scorpions in Macbeth’s mind, the savage killing of several people in cold blood, the conception near the end of the play that Macbeth grasps of nihilism, and Macbeth getting so shielded in the prophecies that he can barely see straight? Is it Macbeth... or the witches? The play by William Shakespeare, Macbeth, has many motifs and famous quotes. However, it raises a lot of questions.

The supernatural motivates Macbeth comprehensively, to the extent that he murders King Duncan, Banquo and Macduff 's family. It galvanises him to do things that otherwise he would have thought were ludicrous. Firstly, the witches prophecies stimulated Macbeth to kill the ones he loves, as a consequence losing friends that were loyal to him. Additionally, Banquo 's ghost caused Macbeth to feel guilt and fear, causing him to rely on the witches’ predictions and having a false feeling of security. Finally, the vision of a bloody dagger that appeared right before the murder encouraged Macbeth to kill King Duncan.
In William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Macbeth, the protagonist desperately tries to live up to the image of a man that his society portrays. The search for his manhood leads him to violent acts that inevitably get him killed. In this tragedy, male and female roles are constantly discussed and defined. Both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth equate masculinity to violence and aggression. They both believe that in order to be a real man, then a man must perform violent acts when necessary.
Often times, people go through rises and downfalls in their lives that they themselves are responsible for. In Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, both main characters, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth, himself, are responsible for the downfall of Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is responsible for the tragedy because she convinces and manipulates Macbeth into doing the deed. However, Shakespeare accomplishes in showing that Macbeth is more responsible for his own downfall than Lady Macbeth because he listens to the witches and follows his ambition rather than his conscience. To begin, Lady Macbeth is responsible for the tragedy because she convinces and manipulates Macbeth into doing the deed by insulting him when he changes his mind.
Macbeth cannot control his paranoia and hallucinations, but he can control his actions towards the prophecies he 's given in the beginning. By the end of the play, his paranoia led to his lonely demise which showed how he believed in the prophecies. Macbeth’s control over his destiny reflects on what the play is teaching us overall. A way Macbeth is in control of his destiny is when he believes in the prophecies.
In our world, manipulation takes place in everyday life as a natural impulse for both men and women. In Macbeth, manipulation is centralized around the mask of ambition displaying dominance over humanity. Certainly the witch’s, Lady Macbeth, and our fallen hero Macbeth become puppets of Manipulation it self. Consequently the witch’s power to influence decision-making causes the initial deterioration of Macbeth, along with Lady Macbeth’s influential desire for the throne, and thus Macbeth use of manipulation to create a new embodiment of a mask suffused in ambition for his own cruel deeds.
No, I do not think Macbeth had ever thought about being king before he ran into the witches. After the encounter with the witches, Macbeth sent a letter to his wife, telling her of the good news. This came as a shock to both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth decided that in order for her husband to become king, they would have to kill King Duncan; however, Macbeth thought King Duncan was a good king and did not deserve to be killed. These thoughts had never crossed their minds before the witches spoke to Macbeth.
How Much of Life can we Control Some people believe that they can take control of their lives and and create their own destiny, while others believe there is a natural force that decides what our destiny will be. In the texts Macbeth and The Iraq War Blog, authors Shakespeare and Faiza Al-Alajir present the theme of not having control over one's destiny, through tragedy and history. The author of Macbeth, Shakespeare believes that people do not have total control in their lives.
The Most to Blame for King Duncan’s Death In William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth it talks about a hero coming back from a viscous battle, from a group of rebels trying to take over the castle that the king’s lives in. After the hero comes back from a bloody battle he encounters three witches that tell him that he will have three titles one in the past thane of Glamis, one in the present thane of Cawdor, and one in the future king. After the witches tell Macbeth about the prophecy he gets the idea of wanting to be the new king and feels that Duncan should isn’t fit to be the king. After Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have a brief argument on wither Macbeth should kill Duncan.
Ambition and self-fulfilling prophecies two seemingly unrelated things that are actually intertwined with one another. Ambition is the thing that drives many people to do the things they love. Self-fulfilling prophecies are a direct result of ambition by the person subconsciously doing things to get their foreseen future. These things help the advancement of people’s lives. It is part of life to want to succeed and have dreams be fulfilled.
Macbeth was working toward being the king of Scotland in the beginning after meeting the three wired sisters. And being told that he was king to be, so it inspired him to do anything that he had to to become king. It did not matter the circumstances he would do it. Even if that meant killing his best friend. He down was cause by him killing Macduff’s family.
