They claim to portray an authentic image of America and therefore it also includes Afro-Americans (1:00). The film opens up with a long shot of the American flag, a symbol used to represent the themes freedom and equality for which the country stands for (0:43). Interestingly, the first conducted interview is with a white business owner, who believes in freedom of speech and equal opportunities for everyone in the USA (1:59). The interview then is followed by a shot of a white police officer (2:06). This contrast already underlines the difference between black and white Americans and hints at the issue of police brutality.

For it allows “white viewers as a chance it imagine whiteness “from the outside.” Overall, all the characters in the film are “true” they’re not over exaggerated stereotypes. Lee presents this movie in a common-like situation. Where frustration can bring the worse in people no matter if they are not openly racist. It is difficult to determine Sal’s true persona as his actions spoke for him.

A Raisin in the Sun PBA Unit 2 Cinematography and filmmaking are art forms completely open to interpretation in many ways such lighting, the camera as angles, tone, expressions, etc. By using cinematic techniques a filmmaker can make a film communicate to the viewer on different levels including emotional and social. Play writes include some stage direction and instruction regarding the visual aspect of the story. In this sense, the filmmaker has the strong basis for adapting a play to the big screen. “A Raisin in the Sun” is a play by Lorraine Hansberry that debuted on Broadway in 1959.

The film I am analyzing, A League of Their Own, would be categorized as a narrative film about the growth of women’s baseball teams during World War II. It follows the dramatized story of Dottie Hinson’s time in her baseball league and their struggles to make women’s baseball be taken seriously; however, the film focuses more on Dottie’s personal goals and relationships. With the added personal challenge of Dottie’s increasing rivalry with her sibling, Kit, as well as the uncaring attitude of their manager, Jimmy Dugan, Dottie’s tale is filled with tension and emotion that is shaped to draw the audience in. To showcase the drama of the film and to help the audience become attached to the stories of the characters, the movie uses flashbacks, comedy, and interpersonal drama to manufacture the story of our main character, Dottie, more interesting and engaging to the audience. As is easily evident simply by the summary of the movie, A League of Their Own is a nonfiction, narrative film made for entertainment and drama, and uses the time period as the circumstances of the story relevant to the audience.

The film makes the greatest impact by showing that people are all the same on the inside no matter what they look like. It showed how much better things would be if people worked together and accepted their differences. First the film takes place in 1971, when racial segregation is still very alive. There is a football team that is made of white coaches and players. A new coach is hired and he is african american.

The film 13th directed by Ava DuVernay targets an intended audience of the Media and the three branches of the United States government with an emphasis that mass incarceration is an extension of slavery. It is intended to inform viewers about the criminalization of African Americans and the United States prison boom. 13th uses rhetorical devices in its claim to persuade the viewers by using exemplum in the opening seconds of the film. President Barack Obama presents statistics, saying “the United States is home to 5% of the world’s population but is home to 25% of the world’s prisoners.” Also the film uses a hyperbole in talking about the movie Birth of a Nation produced in 1915 which portrays a black man as a violent savage who will kill white women.

In 2015, HBO aired a six-part, true crime documentary series titled, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst. Writer and director, Andrew Jarecki, examined the details of three crimes associated with Durst, including the disappearance of Durst’s first wife Kathy, the murder of his dear friend, Susan, and the murder and dismemberment of his neighbor, Morris Black. While the mini-series was met with acclaim, many – including myself – criticize The Jinx for its storytelling approach. The series seemingly blurs the lines of storytelling – for entertainment purposes – and journalism; raising many questions regarding ethics. Crash In the movie crash your going to follow some different kind of people within’ the stereotypes of their ethnicity. And all the characters are in some way connected to each other in some way. Very many scenes in the film were really touching, because many of the characters get more shit then they deserve. For example the Mexican lock-changer when he went to a store to change a lock, but it wasn’t anything wrong on the lock, it was the door.

This movie did a great job of showing how certain society’s work, races such as African Americans, Hispanics, and Persians/Asians were being treated wrong in the movie, and it displays the sociological concepts.

The movie focuses on two main characters who contrast greatly. They both are represented as stereotypes of their respective races, Caucasian and African American. Peter Sanderson is an successful wealthy attorney while Charlene Morton is wrong accused low-income ex-convict who bares an outrageous personality. Throughout the movie both characters exhibit cliched stereotypes and use racially insensitive gestures. I believe mainstream media outlets like film often intermingle racial taboos into their productions for comical effect which is wrong and

The film, Crash, emphasizes the differences of cultures and classes. It focuses on the reality that we are all individuals and that adaptation of the human condition is hopeless. That the need to compete and the desire to win are more important than the justification for human decency. The tension of social and racial tension throughout this film I believe widens the chasm of discussion. I believe this because this film can be interpreted differently by individuals.

The use of lighting and filters for colours is not just used for simple illumination but it is more meaningful. It helps to understand the characters and focus our attention on certain objects and actions. The colour can be used as a motif, an occurring manifestation in which the shades themselves become an important part of the story, reflecting emotions, altering situations and underlining scenes.
