Thomas Jefferson and Adam Burr ran as a republican while John Adams ran as a federalist. Jefferson and Burr received the same number of electoral votes. To determine who would be president the House of Representatives were forced to decide the winner. This would prove to be difficult as the House was deadlocked. That is until Jefferson made the promise to maintain Hamilton’s economic plan. This changed the minds of some leading Jefferson to victory with Adam Burr serving as his Vice President.

The election of 1800 was a battle between federalist Thomas Jefferson and republican John Adams. Each party threw vicious remarks at one another. The republicans wanted to save america from trumarry, stating the alien and sedition acts violated the bill of rights. However, the federalists thought the nation would be ruined by republicans. This election was important because the president and vice president candidates had an even vote.
The election of Thomas Jefferson is sometimes called the ‘Revolution of 1800.’ This description is inaccurate, and the extent is threefold. The main argument of the side that agrees with this statement is that it confirmed a two party system, but this is extremely faulty. First, there was already a clear distinction between two parties. Secondly, Thomas Jefferson was already extremely influential.

The war of 1812 was an armed military conflict between the United States and the British Empire, which comprised of the Great Britain, Ireland and its colonies in North America. It was commenced on June 18th, 1812 by the United States and lasted for another two and a half years. At that time, the Great Britain was the greatest naval power in the world. The United States viewed this as a war on its own whereas Europe viewed it as grounds for the Napoleon wars, since it was caused by issues related to that war. However, this war had a large impact on the future of the United States.
The war of 1812 is one to remember. The war happened between the British and the Americans. This happened because the British stopped trade with the Americans due to a war between the British and the French. Another reason was because of the impressment that the British started against the American sailors. For these reasons, the war of 1812 happened.
Have you ever took the time out to think about presidential elections from the past? Presidential elections from back in the day were totally different from modern day elections. One election that stood out the most was the presidential election of 1800. Thomas Jefferson went up against John Adams. It was held from Friday, October 31 to Wednesday, December 3, 1800.
As such, the majority of Republicans knew that their relationship with Great Britain could only be one-sided; the fight for independence was real. In other terms, their strong relationship (if continued with Great Britain) would result in America’s submission to being held “under Great Britain’s level” of power/authority. The party craved for complete separation from everyone else (independence). They truly believed that when states received more political power, it would only create stronger relationships with the federal government. As a result, the country would be made a much safer and restored place for the culture of people.
The British Naval Forces were seizing ships not just from America but from other European Nations as well. However, what really angered the American government was how they, British Naval Forces, were not just seizing the ships but “[insulting] and [injuring] the American seamen’ (Chapter 6: The War of 1812). Understand by no means was France doing much different, they did stop some American ships from going through, however, Great Britain was by far the primary offender due to its “greater command of the sea” (Chapter 6: The War of 1812). Another insult to the American people, seamen, and American Government was when the Royal Navy captured American seamen and forced them into working for the Royal Navy. Due to this treachery President Madison went to Congress on June 1st, 1812 and asked “for a Declaration of War” even though the British complied with the demands of the American Government (War of 1812 -

Naailah Muhammad Professor David White History 6 March 2018 What makes the controversy between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams so compelling was the fact that they were both outstanding statesman and founding fathers of America. Adams was the first Vice President of the United States, serving the first and second term of President George Washington. Adam is often called the father of the American Navy and he was the first president to reside in the executive house, what we know today as the White House. Adams was a Lawyer and political theorist.
Federalist, such as John Adams, were seen as anti-liberty aggressive bureaucrats and the Republicans planned to secede in secret if they took they lead. This plan was never actually taken into affect; or very seriously for that matter. They made Adams out to be some sort of godless heathen with questionable morals and views so people would avoid voting for him. Democratic-Republicans were heated because Adams refused to engage in a war, which they believed was in order because of the French treated them. They were outright furious and many groups protested their president’s decision.
The election of 1800, involved two parties. The Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans. John Adams and Charles C. Pinckney represented the Federalists and Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr represented the Democratic-Republicans. In the election of 1800, the candidates’ supporters wrote letters and articles to make their arguments against the opposing party. They didn’t travel around and give speeches like today.
