Titanium Dioxide Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is one of the most common chemicals being produced worldwide as it is being used as basic material in everyday living. It is a white powdered chemical typically utilized by the manufacturers of cosmetics, paper, sunscreen, food products, and many others that are included in the variety of industrial and consumer products (ChemicalSafetyFacts.org, n.d.). Knowing that it is an odorless, white-powdered chemical, it gives clarity to a certain product where it has been added. It can also maintain the color of the product and reflect the ultraviolet (UV) light which is why it can also be found in sunscreen products (Mercola, 2016). Titanium dioxide, also called as “titania”, exists in two distinct forms—anatase …show more content…
This means that it can lessen harmful pollutants that surround the environment. Due to this, several researches have already been conducted in some countries like Vietnam that focused on the discoveries on the benefits of using TiO2 (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, 2012). Air quality is a qualitative type of data, however, through the use of a standard measuring device, the researchers were able to obtain quantitative or numerical data. The researchers used a MQ-2 smoke detecting device during the data gathering procedure. Through MQ2 device and Arduino, the researchers were able to use an interactive sensor which can detect and indicate air quality values. Arduino is an electronic platform that has a programming language which indicates the air quality value that is being detected by MQ2. The Grove - Gas Sensor (MQ2) module is useful for combustible gases. And most of the pollutants are combustible gases. MQ2 is very reliable device because of its wide detecting scope, fast response and high sensitivity. Since the researchers needed numerical data for the quantitative research, Arduino was altered. It was originally programmed to indicate only the levels of health concern which includes Good, Moderate, Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, Unhealthy, Very Unhealthy, and Hazardous. The researchers helped in modifying the said program which can now display and indicate an actual quantitative measure of air
For this lab, zeolite and magnetized zeolite were synthesized and compared with charcoal to find out with would be the most effective in the sequestering of Procion Red dye. Finding the concentration and absorbance of each zeolite, magnetized zeolite, and charcoal, along with a calibration curve, the best adsorbent is determined. Charcoal was the overall best sequestration of the Procion Red dye, since the adsorbent was highest compared to the others. Introduction Pollution has increased in the environment over the years, so the purpose of this experiment is to find the best adsorbent of chemicals to reduce the pollution.
Understanding respiratory volumes, capacities, and measurements will help me perform my job as a medical assistant because they are significant being a medical assistant. First of all, when the patient is on the bed, I will measure the respiratory rate while he/she is at relaxation. In the next, I will observe the rise and fall of the victim 's chest and count the number of respirations for one full minute. Then, I will record the current time, respiratory rate and respiratory characteristics. Spirometry is used diagnose conditions that affect breathing such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and cystic fibrosis.
DeekshithKumar Thadishetti Professor mankerian LS 690 July 31 2015 Climate change is one of the global issue that requires multiperspective approach. One of the key cause of climate change is air pollution. Air pollution occurs as a result of release of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. There are two key sources of air pollution that should be targeted if the air pollution is to be reduced. The first source is the industrial stationay sources, which include electric power facilities.
Lung volume and lung capacity are two measurements of respiratory health and measured during pulmonary functions tests. It is show the physical condition of the lungs. Pulmonary ventilation, or breathing, is the process of air flowing into the lungs during inspiration (inhalation) and out of the lungs during expiration (exhalation). Air flows because of pressure differences between the atmosphere and the gases inside
Abstract: The purpose of this experiment was to identify given Unknown White Compound by conducting various test and learning how to use lab techniques. Tests that are used during this experiment were a flame test, ion test, pH test, and conductivity test. The results drawn from these tests confirmed the identity of the Unknown White Compound to be sodium acetate (NaC2H3O2) because there were no presence of ions and sodium has a strong persistent orange color. The compound then will be synthesized with the compounds Na2CO3 and HC2H3O2 to find percent yield.
“The Filth They Breathe in China,” by Michael Auslin reflects on what is happening to the air and water in China. This article describes the air pollution and why it is happening. It tells us what this is doing to our health and what scientist are saying. China 's air pollution has had great deal of problems and that the united states should step in to help generate better lives.
1. Introduction Air pollutin is a public health concern and it has been since the discovery of fire. Incidents and episodes of air pollution have been recorded throughout the history. Air pollution is divided into two, it is the indoor air pollution and the outdoor air pollution. Indoor air pollution is produced in households or at offices by pollutants such as tobacco smoke, household products or pesticides.
Poor quality is linked to many health problems because there are multiple pollutants present indoors. The indoor air quality can be assessed with different measurements of common pollutants such as measuring carbon monoxide, particulate matter, air sampling for volatile organic compounds and air sampling for biological agents. Measuring carbon dioxide indoors will help us to understand the quality of air present in a place and the adequacy of ventilation. It acts like a surrogate measurement for other pollutants. When the carbon dioxide concentration is high, it is understood that other pollutants levels also will be high, and ventilation is poor It is an essential indicator for maintaining adequate indoor air quality (PersilyAK
Desalination Essay Introduction: Drinking seawater is bad, the salt makes you dehydrated and the more salt water you drink the more it makes you sweat. You also get a dry mouth and low blood pressure as well as your heartbeats faster; you could get bad headaches and a lot of dizziness. Most of the biggest desalination plants are in the middle east like United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Israel and many more, but the biggest desalination plant in United Arab Emirates it is the biggest power production, in Jebel Ali M-station in Dubai. The plant has an installed capacity of 2,060MW (mega watts) and 140 million imperial gallons of water per day.
In automobile an exhaust gas is emitted during a combustion process. The exhaust gas is actually a combination of many different gases such as N2, CO2, H2O and O2. Though some are harmless, there are few that are harmful and are considered major pollutants. The major pollutants are Hydrocarbons (HC), Nitrogen oxide (NOx), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Sulfur dioxide (SO2), etc. These gases can affect human health in both short and long term.
Total lung capacity (TLC) is the measure of how much air is in the lungs after a breath. Then the amount of tidal volume (TV) is how much air a person takes in during inspiration. An individual exhales naturally, but can also make themselves breath faster. When an individual forces an expiration it can be measured by forced expiratory volume (FCV), which is how much air a person forces out during their breath. (RV) which is known as residual volume is how much air remains in the lungs after a forced expiration.
This article explains the jobs of these ingredients, which will be helpful in the experiment. In the future, people will be able to know exactly what each ingredient in their makeup is doing and why that ingredient is crucial to creating the perfect look. “One of the primary ingredients in mineral makeup, as well as in ordinary makeup, is titanium dioxide.” (White, 2011) The main product in mineral and regular makeup would be titanium dioxide, which is known for adding radiance and coverage to makeup.
Titanium was discovered in 1791 by geologist Reverend William Gregor from Cornwall, England. Gregor found a black magnetic sand consisting mainly of the oxides of iron and titanium. When he begins analyze it, he knew that he was on the purge to discovering a new metal, which he named it manaccanite. The origin of the name titanium came from a German chemist Martin Klaproth. In 1795, he found a mineral rutile from Boinik, Hungry, that it was just like Gregor’s.
Systems or equipment: By identifying indoor air pollutants or improve air quality, these products are to promote healthy indoor air
There are many different types of air pollutants that are introduced into the air such as carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and, nitrogen dioxide. Moreover, pollutants fall under the two categories: primary pollutants and secondary pollutants. Primary pollutants are gases or particles like intentionally emitted from human behavior, for example: vehicles exhausts emit
