What happens when people are bored? Do they change in anyway? Yes of course, people act differently when they are bored. The definition of boredom is an emotional or psychological state experienced when a person is left without anything to do. They do not feel interested in their surroundings or they feel like the day is dull and tedious. Teen boredom can often lead to bad behavior.
Boredom can result in teenagers neglecting their schoolwork, extracurricular activities and chores. They feel lethargic and unmotivated. This results in low energy levels, loss of concentration and lack of motivation. To look for ways to increase their energy levels, teens may participate in inappropriate and illegal activities. As reported on CBSnews.com many teens don’t know how to deal with their lethargy, so the likelyhood of smoking, drinking and the use of illigal drugs increases. Getting drunk or high makes you think and see things differently which makes life seem more

There are teenagers who learn how to deal with boredom without getting into trouble. Trouble can be exciting but so can other activities. When boredom makes your mind race you can get creative and learn to entertain yourself without getting into mischief. There are people who say that teens commit crimes because they are bored but perhaps it wasn’t boredom that caused them to commit a crime, it was a lack of morality. It depends on your personality and how strong your morals are to break the feeling of boredom without getting into trouble.
However, I disagree with this argument because these ideas may have some merit but teens can be impulsive and get into mischief before they are able to stop themselves. People with morality still seek excitement when they are bored and may lose sight of their morals for the instant satisfaction of that excitement. Just because a person does a bad act impulsively doesn’t mean they don’t have
In fact, teens in our country do not have a deep knowledge of the negative effects of drug use. Without realizing the drug can cause until failed to make rational decisions and is also likely to be fatal, our teenagers addicted to the drugs. The occurrence of drug abuse is influenced by peers. This is because, a friend is someone nearby to adolescents after the family.
I agree with the author's point of view in the article “The Danger Lurking in Just One Drink”, by Jeannie Ralston. She provides many statistics that surround teenage binge drinking and how it is negative and dangerous to teenagers. In the beginning, the article starts off with a short story about a girl from Massachusetts, named Taylor Meyer, who was too drunk to find her way home and ended up drowning in a swampy area in the woods. “Your brain on alcohol becomes a dumber, more unpredictable version of itself and the consequences can be catastrophic” (Ralston, p.7). If Taylor had not drank that night she would have been able to find her way home safely and unharmed.
Teens today are also influenced by their peers on their actions. In the article “Peer Pressure” it says, “The term “peer pressure” refers to any type of influence that your friends may have over you. Many times, teens are influenced by their peers to do things that result in negative consequences. This is negative peer pressure. Specifically, negative peer pressure refers to activities such as using drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes; vandalizing property; using violence against others; having sex before you are ready or having unsafe sex; stealing; or driving drunk” (Feder).
There has been research that shows the negative effects of lowering the drinking age that goes way beyond drunken incidents. The February 2013 issue of “Mental Health Weekly Digest” showed the findings of Dr. Andrew D. Plunk of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. It is quite obvious that the most abused drug by adolescents is alcohol, and it can have lasting effects. "Furthermore, human brain development continues into the third decade of life, raising concern that heavy adolescent alcohol misuse may produce cognitive deficits and impairment in memory and attention” Plank proclaimed. “Numerous studies have linked binge drinking to poorer academic performance (Mental Health Weekly Digest).”
Underage drinking is a risk that attracts many developing adolescents and teens. A huge number of them wants to try alcohol, but often does not fully recognize its effects on their health and behavior. Underage drinking can in many ways harm the health of a large group of citizens in the US. During the teen age, the human body is developing. So, the consumption of alcohol may cause huge medical, social, legal, physical, and academic problems.
When it comes to the topic of trying juveniles as adults for serious crimes the majority of people will say yes; however, it is not a simple of an answer as it seems. In “Should Juvenile Offenders Be Tried as Adults” by Laurence Steinberg, Steinberg points out different reasons why this would not be as simple decision as it appears to be. Therefore, juveniles between the ages 13 and 17 should not be tried as adults because, their development is still incomplete, their judgment is less mature, and transferring them to a criminal court is a complicated process. For example, although the majority of peoples argument is ‘if you can do the time you can do the crime’, in reality, the situation goes far beyond the age of the juvenile.
The effects of drugs and alcohol can highly affect young
Teens spend anywhere from 6-8 hours a day at school. Now, take 6 hours of school and 7 hours of online entertainment, and you are left with only 11 hours, about 8 of which most teenagers will be sleeping. This leaves vey little time for extra activities, and is an unhealthy lifestyle. Related to the heavy technology use, teens today have been significantly more subjected to influence than teens in the 1940s. Although there are plenty of positives to social media, it negatively impacts many of the decisions that teenagers make.
Teens Tried as Adults Teens are the future of our society. They are the ones who will soon run the world we live in today. People make mistakes and no one is perfect. From these mistakes people learn, however some do not. Most of the time when a teen makes a bad choice something gets broken, they screw up in class or hurt someone's feelings.
Drugs such as alcohol have an effect on all users, regardless of their age; however, alcohol has an especially harmful effect on teens since their bodies are still developing. Studies have shown that alcohol has numerous negative effects on a teen’s body and mental health; for example, a study conducted by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention stated that “alcohol consumption affects the brain’s frontal lobes, which is essential for functions such as emotional regulations, planning, and organization” (“Age”). Teens already have high emotions and difficulties planning and organizing; alcohol will only enhance teens’ struggle. The Center of Disease Control and Prevention also found that alcohol consumption at a young age can potentially cause chronic problems such as memory loss, depression, suicidal thoughts, and poor decision making (“Age”). Teens have a difficult enough time making decisions and organizing their lives, but adding alcohol to the mix will only make matters worse; their bodies are still developing, and they are still learning to be adults.
Another risk of drinking at a younger age is the increased chance of addiction, studies have shown that the earlier an individual start drinking the higher the chances are of becoming an alcoholic. One of the last reasons the legal drinking age should stay at twenty-one is possibly the biggest reason why it is. Driving under the influence is one of the leading causes of accidents in the US, killing approximately one person every fifty-two minutes. The age group of sixteen- nineteen-year-olds are three times more likely to be in a fatal crash, due to the involvement of alcohol, than someone in their twenties. One of the leading causes of DUI’s is peer pressure, usually from teenagers attempting to impress friends or acquaintances.
So they continously do the activity until such time that they realize that it has become an addiction without realizing that it is detrimental in their health. The misuse of alcohol does not only affect the concerned teenager but it also breaks relationship as wekk as the society in general in terms of violence and crime, accidents and drink-driving. To explore more on this issue, a studys conducted in Harvard School of Public Healthshows that students who are engaged in alcohol drinking activities tend to be are displaying negative behaviors and therefore reveiving sanctions by the authorities (Wechsler et al.
They feel that it is “cool” to drink and drive. The one thing that teens don’t realize is how much one drink can do. One drink can change a life or often many lives in a
Teenagers of today has this lame belief that they can easily get away with drinking. They often forget that drinking more than tolerated put strain on the minds leading them to acquire low grades in class; consequently, they get bad jobs and bad environment through their lives. Drinking can even lead them to commit suicide. Youth in the united states prefer drinking alcohol over any other mood-altering substance.
A hobby is an activity that people done during free time. Since it could release their stress or relaxation. But there are also some dangerous hobbies that could their behavior even live. There are so many risks-hobbies for teenagers that I am going to explain, such as party, shopping and addicted to the internet. It is already attached to teenagers in general, but this time I will discuss it more deeply.
