The disciplinarian in the family is the father, according researchers at Ohio State University thus, children living with single mothers may likely to have behavioral problems, but the result of their study contradicted their assumption. Children who were less well-behaved in the classroom were raised by single fathers. (155). In today’s society, these gender roles are quickly fading away, although there are still some mothers that insist on staying home with her children because they fear the thought of somebody else raising her kids, and missing out on the big milestones of a child’s life. What most of these women may not realize is that they still will be around for these milestones, such as the child’s first words, or them crawling, then walking, because having a job does not consume every minute of the day. They will still be able to spend their time before or after work with their child, in which many of the special moments will take place. There are thousands of single mothers around the world that are forced to raise their child on their own, which means that they must leave their child in the care of someone else, and get a job almost immediately after their child is born in order to earn enough money to support her little family.
A child in foster care is a child whose parents cannot take care of them and are placed in foster care by local welfare services or by court order (Hill 2005). Foster parents do not have custody but are expected to care for the child as they would their own (Hill 2005). Being a foster parent is a selfless act because you are caring for a child that is not yours, and more than likely will be placed back with their parents. There are many rewards to being a foster parent, but there are just as many downfalls as a foster parent because it affects the emotions of your family.
For a child to grow up having a bright future, it is necessary that from a young age, he or she develops a healthy childhood as well as being raised in a healthy family structure. Every child should have the right to be raised in a healthy family structure and the ideal one is being raised by a mother (female) and a father (male). Being raised by the same-sex parenting is harmful, complicated, and confusing for children, although it is already confusing for them the idea that people of the same-sex are getting married. Children can be comparable to little sponges that absorb everything they observe or hear, especially by their parent’s actions. Their earliest exposure to what it means to be male or female comes from their parents; for example, they see their father shaving as well as their mother applying makeup on her face.
Single motherhood calls for a great balance to be struck – between parenting, earning a livelihood and finding little time to spend on yourself. Everything that must be done starts with your own hands – cooking, washing, cleaning, taking care of children and keeping house. But today, as divorce rates increase, more and women are becoming single parents – empowered, strong and able to manage on their own.
A single parent have to take all the responsibility to raise children. They have to work hard in order to get enough money for the whole family. It is truly stressful for these families. The kind of family type is unstable as a result of divorce of coupled parents and the death of parents. The women who get pregnant by accident can also become single parents.
Before analyzing the benefits and risks of parentification, it is critical to understand why children are placed in this circumstance. In a study conducted by Li Ping Chee, Esther C. L. Goh, and Leon Kuczynski, titled “Oversized Loads: Child Parentification in Low-Income Families and Underlying Parent–Child Dynamics”, a qualitative methodology was used to conduct

In recent years, parenting has changed and diversified that different parenting styles can be observed in several families all over the world. These parenting styles are called “helicopter parenting” and “free-range parenting”. While their names may imply what these styles do, one must still know what characteristics the styles and how to identify them.
Parents are the foundation of life for children, molding their child with each action they take or word they say into a unique individual. Half of marriages today end in separation or divorce leading to one of the parents, most commonly the father, leaving the home. Social interactions, confidence, morals, and a sense of self are all things people learn and develop from the relationships with their parents. A father’s absence can be profoundly influential on a child’s life, performance in school, mental and physical health, and social development can all be affected. Naturally single parents tend to be very close to their children, but care should be taken to avoid too much encroachment on responsibilities. For example, serious issues may arise if a single mother demands that her son takes on the responsibilities of the man of the house or treats the daughter as a confidant, burdening the girl with personal problems. This is improper, and it may be confusing to a
It can be inferred that when a single parent takes on a child, they think of any given situation that life might throw their way and prepare and plan for the worst so the kid does not end up back in Foster Care. an article even states “What prospective single parents do need, however, is a lot of self-reflection. Because it’s hard to raise a child alone, prospective parents should take stock of several key issues, including finances, lifestyle and support. Ms. Hochman offers these questions to consider, especially for singles, before plunging into the adoption process” (Adoption and the single guy, Lisa Beach).
