WHAT IS CONSERVATISM? In the world today, and throughout recent history, conservatism has been an important part of political ideologies. The word, conservatism comes from the Latin alphabet and it means to guard and embowering. But in politics, there is no exact explanation for conservatism. Mostly depends on what is considered traditional. According to Philip E. Agre, conservatism is “the domination of society by an aristocracy.” ("What Is Conservatism and What Is Wrong with It?" n.d.) And according to John Kekes, conservatism is a “political morality”. ("John Kekes - What is Conservatism? - Utopia Online Library," n.d.) Conservatism has different versions, because there is no agreement between politicians. Conservative people usually defends what they oppose and the best information they have about is for oppose, but when it comes to what they are for, it is a blank space, they forget about their actual purpose while understanding the oppose. Therefore, a fixed system of ideas wouldn’t be enough the describe conservatism, so it is hard to tie down conservatism with any kind of fixed systems. The idea was first established after the French Revolution against liberalism, for the ones who were frightened by the violence of the revolution. It was mainly resisting the pressures of other ideologies such as liberalism, socialism and nationalism, because conservatism was more traditional comparing to these ideologies. Before I could even understand what politics was, I would hear my parents and extended family discussing conservatism and their opinions on our country’s leaders. For a while, I identified as a conservative strictly because of what my parent’s told me.
The rise of conservatism began with the defeat of Barry Goldwater in the hands of Lyndon B. Johnson and continued with Nixon and Ford’s presidencies. The groups that supported conservatism also opposed: big gov., liberalism, gun control, feminism, gay rights, welfare, affirmative action, sex permissivements, abortion, and drug use. They believed in traditional values of family and faith, work ethic, and national security all while keeping the government limited in their power. In California, voters passed Proposition 13 due to increasing property taxes in the state. Proposition 13 helped cut property taxes in CA.
The other way that you can see their altering perspective are in the government policies. The Jeffersonian Republic passed their governmental policies. That reflected with what Alexander Hamilton stated on his perspectives of the government and its power. He distinctly stated that he believes that the situation should be controlled by the government. The foundation that was set for the Alien and Sedition Acts were structured to Federalist ideals which was ordered by the Jeffersonian Republic (Doc B).
The Constitution was believed to be a conservative document. The Constitution will be one of the reasons why radical changes take place and will take huge shifts politically to a large extent. The Constitution took power away from the state and gave it to the federal state. This was something Hamilton believed in because he wanted a large and strong government and weak federal state. The Federalists believed in the Federalist paper which was written by James Madison and Alexander Hamilton and John Jay.
After nearly fifty days in the White House, President Trump has done an excellent job. On his second day in office he vowed to destroy the Islamic State, and on his ninth day he fulfilled his promise of a 5 year-ban on officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government, and a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government, which was a promise kept. (foxnews.com) My favorite quote by my President Trump is “My policy is to learn from the past, focus on the present, and dream about the future. " I think that this quote describes him perfectly as a president.

Moral conservatism believes that people have natural tendencies to behave in an antisocial way, so it is up to the state to provide religious training and traditional practices to maintain the social well-being. The majority of people who live in Mott Haven are broken families, because of all the issues. Which means that if poor families were to be relocated, they may end up as a broken family. Moral conservatism would be against the relocations because of this reason they do not want the family to be broken up and would try to prevent it from falling apart. (Natalie) Government is an integral part of our everyday lives, determining our laws, our liberties, and ultimately the quality of our nation. The Founders of our United States designed a republican government, thinking it would be both effective and representative. However, the diversity and size of the United States created unique challenges that needed to be addressed. It magnified the risk that the people would split into factions and pursue their self interest instead of the common good. The Founders attempted to preserve a republican government by limiting the power of factions; however, their solutions were not successful.

It’s that time again, election time! Time for both Democrats and Republicans to debate and campaign for what they believe and stand for. This can bring up a lot of serious issues that both parties have different views on. Everybody has a different opinion and some believe that the Republican party has offended minorities in America, Latino’s, homosexuals, women, etc. There is a reason for this and not just an offensive generalization.
John Locke was the first to create this idea of liberalism. Locke’s views influence the many important people during the American Revolution. As we can see liberalism can be seen in the American Revolution. From Thomas Jefferson to James Madison we see liberal beliefs throughout the revolution.
Lastly, they strongly believe that the government should provide taxpayer funded abortions for women who cannot afford them ("Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs"). On the other hand, Republican views on abortion are opposite of the Democratic view. They believe that the human life begins at conception; disagreeing with the Democratic belief that a fetus is not a human life. Republicans biggest belief is that abortion is murder ("Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs"). It can be hard to find your political view. Sometimes it takes time and research on political issues in our country and around the world. There are two popular political views; conservative and liberal. The definition for a conservative; is holding to traditional attitudes and values and cautious about change or innovation, typically in relation to politics or religion. Liberal definition is; open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values.
