The main argument is about how income inequality affects everyone and how production is also a disadvantage. Although the San Joaquin Valley produces millions of dollars of produce a year, many people in the valley are living in poverty. In fact Merced is the top fourth county in California with, unemployment, poverty, child poverty, and food insecurity. Part of the reason is that the youth do not have many programs or resources to keep them in school and occupied. Many of them will not graduate high school, and end up incarcertated, and get pregnant in their teen year.

Since our last progress report our group has changed a lot, and many new ideas have formed to make our stimulation more organized and successful. Our goal is to educate people and help them better understand homelessness through a live simulation. During the live simulation want simulate the types of situations, people who experience homelessness encounter. This will help people better understand what its like to be homeless and will put them in the shoes of someone who faces this situation.

In January 2010, I began my career as the Kanawha County 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent. As an Extension Instructor with West Virginia University, I seek a promotion to Assistant Profession with tenure. As an extension instructor, my significant areas for contribution are teaching and service, while I am expected to provide reasonable contribution in the area of research. As per West Virginia University tenure and promotion policy, this service cumulative document is reviewed by external reviewers. I joined extension after working at a variety of different organizations and bring a wealth of experience in nonprofit management, service-learning, environmental training and technical assistance, and micro business development.

After reading, The Other Wes Moore, it intrigued me how so many of our young people are growing up in families where the parent or parents cannot provide a suitable environment that provides fundamental resources. This book talks about two males that could have ended up with the same fate only if there had not been any assistance to guide one of them on a different path. It is evident that our environment is an essential factor in how we adapt and attain the life that we live. With limited resources, our youth has become a statistic of their environments. As these generations continuously extend, minorities have become the target of a huge issue such as teen pregnancy.

A historical example of the use of enforcement and regulation of the poor is vagrancy laws. Emerging in England, vagrancy laws were prominent in 1349 after the Black Death resulted in a significant labour shortage (Esmonde, 2002). Legislation was enacted at this time to protect landowners by ensuring wages remained reasonable, making the refusal of work a criminal offence for the able-bodied, and restricting the solicitation of alms (Esmonde, 2002). According to Esmonde (2002), this was the beginning of criminalizing able-bodied individuals who were unemployed – the 'undeserving ', while providing relief to those unable to work due disability, age, or mobility – the 'deserving '.

If community oriented programs are not becoming more of a priority for the at-risk children in the community, those children have a greater chance of entering the system and not leaving it. An example of this type of program is the Project Positive Action through Holistic Education. The program helps the students grow a link to schools. Project Positive Action through Holistic Education includes “peer teaching, school-pride campaigns, peer counseling services, job fairs, and career planning (Araki, 2003)” to help students prepare for the future and keep them out of trouble in the present. Juveniles should be able to leave the detention centers when finished with their sentences and join the real world without being pulled back into the Criminal Justice System.

San Diego Hope for Humanity, will focus on identifying and developing the youth and young adults on their capacities based on, physical, intellectual, moral, spiritual, social and emotional to educate them on: • How to choose an appropriate educational program. • Actual cost of attending school, including fees, books and supplies, transportation and living expenses. • How to develop and maintain a workable budget. • Balancing family life and school/ • Taking care of their emotional and physical health. Training youth right understanding.

By bringing awareness and hopefully an end to youth homelessness, society will not only help get these youth off the streets,

I remember waking up that morning, feeling paralyzed, as well as a rush of emotions. Feeling uneasy but ambitious, demoralized but delighted, timid but fearless; it was the day. I had always been a soft- spoken individual so the thought of talking to another individual; nevertheless, trying to sell an item to another individual on whether our cookies were better than the third graders was daunting and the burden of the field trip only added to the pressure.

For a while, imagine you stay in an environment which is constant in all terms whether its seasons, routine, the way you do your dress or edibles you intake; everything is just same as it was the previous day. Wouldn 't it become intolerable to survive in such circumstances, snatching vividness and our zeal & goal to live life? This interminable assumption gives us the thoughtful sketch of an importance of diversity in our lives. Diversity is a wizard which keeps the human race going, which we face in the form of globalization and better understanding towards it is something we want to attain through global education.

Everbody does have the abilty to affect others, and so do I. In this summer, I served as a teacher in a summer camp, teaching primary school students. Throughout my service learning experience, I gained a lot of insights and reflections. I served, and at the same time I learnt. I have comparatively significant changes in two aspects, including my passion in helping the underprivileged children and adolescents, as well as my problem-solving and decision-making capacities.
