The Price We Pay Adam Mayblum

Taking a walk in Adam Mayblum shoes: this is what it feels like when you read the essay, The Price We Pay. After the first plane hit on 9/11, the most shocking event was that Mayblum and his associates remained calm. They thought it was a bomb. "We did not panic. I can only assume that we thought that the worst was over.

On March 1 2017, I attended an event for the anthology A Good Time for the Truth: Race in Minnesota. This event included readings, musical performances, and a choreographed performance. The entire event completely captivated me, but I was most impacted by Andrea Jenkins reading from her part of the anthology titled “The Price We Pay: How Race and Gender Identity Converge”. In her piece, she talked a lot about gender identity, race, and how they intersect.

The 9/11 tragedy was a moment where people had their guard up at all times. This was a time where life had strike to reality of time warfare with every person and country. Couldn’t trust no one that came to the U.S. America is the land of the free and the home of the brave, were brave because the generations before us had to face what had happened and to what is going to happen. This had left the buildings torn instantly killing hundreds of many people, getting them stuck in the higher floors. This attack was the worst in America ever since the Pearl Harbor All over our nation saw a major impact of devastation in the face of the September 9, 2001attacks.

Nearly the whole country watched in horror on the morning of September 11, 2001. As the planes crashed and the towers burned, many thought it simply wasn’t true. They believed that it was impossible that someone could hate America that much. It was true, and it left lasting effects on Americans everywhere. Al-Qaeda had carried out a plan so horrific that it killed nearly three thousand people.

This is the first terrorist attack that we have experienced in the 21st century. President Bush spoke out to the American people to empower and soothe them in a vulnerable time. President Bush reassures citizens and the victim’s families that America and its people are not only strong but are safe and will rise up again. Bush effectively executes his 9/11 speech and uses rhetorical devices to catch the citizens attention, calm the America people and unite them together again.

This does remind me of the attack on the World Trade Center. It's much like it because it was a surprise. No one knew it was going to happen but they. The outcome was devastating. Thousands of people died during these tragedies.

President, George W. Bush, in his “ Address to the Nation on 9/11” speaks to the American people to address what has happened and what the plan is to fix the disaster. George W. Bush’s purpose is to give a sense of hope, security, and relief in a scary and grief filled time. He adapts to a feeling of unity that calls all Americans to come together in this crisis. In his speech, George W. Bush first talks about how even though America was hurt by these attacks we were not broken. He goes on to talk some about how amazing the American people’s response to the situation was and how people came together in the hard time.

The speech focuses on the fact that these terrorist attacks were out of pure evil. Bush wanted to make sure that America, along with the rest of the world, still had a fight and a drive in them. He wanted us to feel safe and protected. As he continues on, the American people hear what he has done and what will be done to

On September 11th, 2001 the Twin Towers in New York City fell victim to a terrorist attack that left thousands dead, thousands more injured and millions in fear. Later that day George W. Bush, the President of the United States of America, created a speech to help calm the public about the events that occurred earlier that day. The speech was shown on national television the United States from the White House. The speech was effective because President Bush did help calm down the public with his speech. In President Bush’s speech to the public on the night of September eleventh 2001 he showed that his point of view was from the perspective that he was trying the comfort the American public.

One moment it was a normal day and the next moment will forever be ingrained within the minds of an entire nation. The first plane hit at 8:46 a.m. and the second at 9:03 a.m., leaving 2,819 people dead. September 11, 2001 will always be remembered as a day of great destruction, a day of great loss. September 11, 2001 was the day two planes flew into the World Trade Center, forever changing the way of life for all of America. After this horrible act of terrorism the president of the United States gave a speech addressing the nation.

They needed reassurance that their country was safe, how they could help, and why did this happen. Americans wanted to know that they would be secure, and that there would be justice for these attacks. They need George Bush, their president to assure them of this. The President had the task that day of letting the nation know what took place during the attacks. In order to do this, he needed to show the world that America is still strong, but he also needed to appeal to the emotions of his audience.

A Homemade Education by Malcolm X, is an informative essay about the author Malcolm X dedication to further his education by himself. In this essay the author talks about how he was envious, how he turned that into motivation, and how he didn't let the fact that being imprisoned would keep him from pursing his goals. The essay " A Homemade Education" was very meaningful. The most meaningful thing to me about this essay was the dedication behind the authors purpose to further his education.

It is almost sixteen years since that fear was imposed on us and the age of terror began in earnest. From the moment the Twin Towers fell, 9/11 was seen as a watershed, a historical turning point of grand and irreversible proportions. Although the images of the event were still fresh in my mind I had no understanding of it. I often wondered as a kid why an airplane would crash into a building in broad day. These and many more questions went unanswered for year until the 6th anniversary of the attacks. My 7th grade social studies teacher Mr. Drummond gave answers to the questions I had about the 9/11 attacks.
