Beginning with the title and logo of the film, The Man with the Movie Camera, we can conclude that we are invited to examine the relation and the collaboration between human being and machine. Vertov makes it clear, in his written manifesto at the beginning of the film, that “the film presents an experiment in the cinematic communication of visible events …. This experimental work aims at creating a truly international absolute language of cinema based on its total separation from the language of theatre and literature”. Vertov wants us to investigate this relation through visual language, as he presents a group of surreal images and shots, inviting us to participate in the decoding process of his film. Vertov depicts workers at their workplaces and inside the workers’ clubs. During these senses, Vertov presents a woman stuffing the cigarettes while other women working on the phone center, using fast motion or speeding images, and presenting them in a superhuman speed. By doing this, Vertov aims to show the workers’ involvement in their work and the joy that they feel in the paradise of the workplace. At the end of the work day, it is also the human hand that turned the machines off. Vertov’s message can be seen clearly here; it is the human being who invents and controls these machines, it is labor. Vertov also depicts workers during leisure time, as he presents them in workers’ club, drinking beer, playing chess and backgammon. He uses a reverse motion to help the workers to reset the backgammon pieces in order to enhance the leisure time. Get Out (2017) is a horror film directed and written by Jordan Peele. The film is about a black male named Chris, performed by Daniel Kaluuya, who is going out of town with his girlfriend Rose, performed by Allison Williams. The purpose of this trip is to meet her parents for the first time at their estate located deep into the woods. Little does Chris know Rose’s parents do not really care to meet him but are more interested in auctioning off his body. Chris figures this out towards the end of the film and he barley figures out a way to escape.
Most teenagers complain about not having enough freedom. To be able to sit and eat ice cream out of the box at ten in the morning for breakfast or blast their favorite music as loud as possible. For most, college provides that, opening its campus to their students with gates of gold granting young adults the freedom that they dream about. Unfortunately, a new danger that once was cloaked from young minds is being revealed, making this freedom less obtainable. That danger is rape.

But ever since the advent of cinema, they have been pitted against each other over formal and cultural peculiarities – hence engaging in a relationship deemed “overtly compatible, secretly hostile” (Bluestone 2).
Throughout the movie “End of Watch” follows along with Officer Brian Taylor (Gyllenhaal) and Officer Mike Zavala (Pena) on their daily patrols in the inner city of Los Angeles. During the course of the movie, there are many things that Officer Taylor and Officer Zavala do that is very common and even accepted among police officers. But, one reoccurring theme is that they use foul language while on duty, act unprofessional, and use excessive force. In addition, Officer Taylor is actively recording his daily activities while on duty with a handheld video camera and lapel body cameras for both himself and Officer Zavala. Even though Officer Taylor was repeatedly told to cease his filming by fellow officers and supervisors he continued his behavior.
“The Veldt” is a short story by Ray Bradbury. This story can be analyzed using a Marxist and psychoanalytical perspective. For both of these perspectives, the main evidence is found in the kids and their relationship with their parents. For Marxist, “The Veldt” shows how the family relationship reveals the oppression of the lower class and their battle to become the new upper class. The structure of power in this can be connected to the power struggle of today’s society.

The story details Vladek’s life as he moves from wealth to poverty, falls in love with his first wife, Anja, raises a son, Richieu, and survives Auschwitz. The author depicts Jews as mice, the Polish as pigs, and the Nazis as cats, which serves as an metaphor of the dehumanizing events of the Holocaust (Art Spiegelman: Biography, Artist, Maus). Vladek’s will to live allows him to survive through the horrors of being helped captive in the concentration camps, which included being separated from his wife, nearly starving to death, watching his friends die, hearing about the deaths of family members, and other tragedies. Vladek in present-day is a very strange man, he does things like counting his pills and returning opened boxes of cereal to the grocery store expecting a refund. His traits frustrate Art and they clash often, even though that the habits that Art considers to be strange might have been the habits that kept Vladek alive.
In “Aesthetic of Astonishment” essay, Gunning argues how people first saw cinema, and how they are amazed with the moving picture for the first time, and were not only amazed by the technological aspect, but also the experience of how the introduction of movies have changed the way people perceive the reality in a completely different way. Gunning states that “The astonishment derives from a magical metamorphosis rather than a seamless reproduction of reality”(118). He uses the myth of how the sacred audience run out the theater in terror when they first saw the Lumiere Brother Arrival of the train. However, Gunning does not really care how hysterical their reaction is, even saying that he have doubts on what actually happened that day, as for him it the significance lied on the incidence--that is, the triggering of the audience’s reaction and its subsequence results, and not the actual reactions and their extent.
