During this time, technology was advancing, but the economy was on a downfall. The 1930s was one of America’s early decades that changed culture and life forever. There was economic struggle, technological advancement, and an effect on the economy due to changing technology. The 1930s was a time of advancement in America, but it wasn’t necessarily a good time.

On October 24, 1929, also known as ‘Black Thursday’, one of the greatest economic and social crisis in the United States of America begun. On that day more than 12 and half million shares of stock were sold, which was triple the usual amount. Next, over the following 4 days, the stock market prices fell 23 percent. Afterwards, the Americans had to face suffering and obstacles for the next 10 years. In 1933, the unemployment had risen from 3 percent to 25 percent of nation’s workforce and those who were able to keep their jobs faced harsh reductions in wages.

The 1930’s was one of the worst decades. The stock market crashed, sending the country into economic depression. Many people in the lower class lost their jobs as businesses shut down. The presidential election of 1932 was affected majorly since a number of the people hated Hoover’s response to the economic crisis. Conditions were really bad, especially for African Americans.

The great depression had a negative impact on the lives of Americans. The great depression effected people all through out the nation, it was a global event. Many lives were greatly negatively affected. First off the great depression left many people homeless with no money or food. Family roles changed men struggled to find jobs.

Our economy during the 1930s was struggling trying to recover from the Great Depression, and this brought out the worst in Americans. The stock crash during the 1930s, left banks uninsured and the government with no compensation for the unemployed. This left hundreds of families begging for food on the streets. During this decade, the Zoot Suit Riots was a primarily example of a hate crime against Mexican American in Los Angeles. This awful event is controversial to this day when discussing who 's to blame for this crime.

For most Americans, it was full of the prosperity and peace that followed World War I. Middle-class life was full of leisure and class. For others, this time period was filled with hardships and challenges. Many immigrants and African-Americans faced discrimination and segregation from the rest of the United States. One notable, positive aspect of the 1920s was its booming economy.

The 1930’s was a horrendous, dreadful time period that affected the whole world. The U.S got hit especially hard considering the country was very strong and prosperous the previous decade. Farmers that lived in the Panhandle of Oklahoma, Okies, were hit especially hard. The Okies were affected more than any other group in the U.S. during The Great Depression because not only did they suffer the economic problems of no money or jobs, but they also had to deal with dust storms and moving across the country. When the stock market crashed in 1929, the price of corn and wheat dropped so low, that it was no longer profitable to grow.

People are partying. The word of money fills in the air. People being miserable everywhere. These events were the daily lifestyle of people living in the 1920’s. The 1920’s was a prosperous time for America after World War I because after the war, the economy raised people’s hopes of being in the upper class.

In this essay I will be explaining how society was in 1930’s America and how people were being treated in the 1930’s based on the depression, racism, misogyny, names, power and the American dream. Firstly of Mice and Men was written in the 1930’s and was set in California. In 1930’s America, faced a problem which was known as the depression. This meant that when one business went down all the workers became unemployed, so no-one had any money.

As she says “you never see people watching tv”, and that happens because it truly isn’t entertaining. It substitutes for a life. The television has been pulling people into an allusion of a false reality and a seemingly boring life since its implementation. She essentially illustrates the negative impact television has on todays society.

The 1920s to late 1930s were a very controversial. A lot changed and flipped back and forth. The 1920s were full of cultural change. We were very conservative and people wanted change. After the stock market crash the government want to help bring Americans out of the gutter with the bad economy.
