Irena Sendler Essay

While Vladka Meed was in Germany there was a tragic event where the Nazis would capture Jews then send them to camps and there at the camps they would murder the Jews in gas chambers or of hunger. Vladka spent her days transporting Jewish children and smuggling weapons out of the ghetto where she was held. Vladka Meed had done some very risky things that is why they label her as an upstander. Before the war Vladka Meeds childhood was quite ordinary, all until one day she was transported and held at the Warsaw ghetto.

She managed to stay strong when so many jews couldn't. For instance, an incident occurred where boiling hot soup spilled on Marion’s leg, burning her severely. However, this ten year old girl, who was already tremendously weak, managed to stay silent. She didn't make a sound because she could have ended up getting her and her family killed.

Until the year 1940, Irena Sendler was a regular Polish woman. Sendler was a nurse, a Polish social worker until the Germans forced the Jews in and around Warsaw into a barely standing neighborhood called the Warsaw Ghetto. There was little food, clothes, and medicine in the ghetto so people were dying the streets. When Irena heard about this she wanted to help. The 11 ½ feet brick walls surrounding the ghetto did not stop Irena.

The Holocaust was when the Nazis murdered 11,000,000 people. One of the most famous holocaust survivors was Elie Wiesel. He wrote a memoir Night. Some of the terrible things that happened to Elie included beating, starvation, and forced marches. This kind of trauma changes a person.

Irena Sendler gathered these children and sent them off to live with new families. Irena gathered the names of all the Jewish children she sent away and stored them within a jar. She would smuggle the children to safety in different ways, such as hiding them in an ambulance, travelling through sewers or pretending the children were extremely ill. On October 20, 1943 Sendler was arrested and sent to Pawiak Prison where the Nazis tried to force Sendler to release the names of the children. Sendler never told the Nazis anything about the children and due to this she was condemned to death.

The Holocaust is one of the most hatred and horrible things that happened during World War II. Yet, there were still acts of courage and also human decency during the Holocaust. Irena became a hero to many people and still is now till this day because she was a polish nurse that saved the lives of 2,500 children. Irena was a Polish nurse and a social worker who served in the Polish underground during World War ll.

Her efforts of surviving and helping the army has made history and an impact on the lives of the people she brought to

She was enraged at the Nazi oppression and racial intolerance that she had seen. “My children are safe while others are threatened” (Cole, 1). She soon acted on that anger, by joining the underground National Movement Against Racism (MNCR). While there, she walked the streets

The Holocaust was the largest genocide to ever occur. An entire population was discriminated against, dehumanized, and then murdered by the millions for their religious faith, handicaps, sexuality or nationality with little to no interference from the rest of the world. Today we can only imagine what it was like to live through it. As a fifteen-year-old Jewish boy in 2018, these events are unimaginable, but for Eliezer Wiesel who was also a fifteen-year-old Jewish boy during World War II, it was his reality.

French Resistance To say that the Holocaust only affected German Jews and no one outside the camps knew what was going on isn 't just an understatement, it 's a false inaccuracy. There were many Resistance groups, that didn’t like what the Germans were doing, therefore many people stared Resistance groups to help fight the Germans. One of the strongest people that fought Germany and worked so hard to get people away from this terrible person, was the French Resistance.

Fighting in the Holocaust? In 1939, world war two began when adolf Hitler and the Nazi party invaded poland, causing six million jewish people to fear for their lives this fear began when citizens had to complete a census and carry in identification card. Second, the Jews had to wear the star of david and they were forced into the Ghettos, third they were taken to the concentration and death camps. ”The diary of Anne Frank”,”violins of hope,”Resistance during the Holocaust” we see different ways of actively and passively resisting Nazi atrocity.

Throughout World War II, Jewish people and minority groups were being slaughtered in many European regions subjugated by Adolf Hitler backed by the Nazi party. The tragedy of the genocide of the Jewish people is known as the Holocaust. During this period of affliction, individuals either actively or passively resisted the oppression. The people who were determined to actively resist chose to use violent actions to escape the shame and humiliation for not doing anything; though, the population that prefered to passively resist desired to stay alive by not using violent acts. In different texts including “The Diary of Anne Frank”, “Violins of Hope” and “Resistance During the Holocaust”, passive resistance is utilized by certain individuals

There was a horrific event that lasted twelve years. This event was fueled by hate for an entire group of people. For twelve long years six million Jewish men, women, and children were hunted down and killed. This event is known as the Holocaust and to prevent something as horrific as this we must research and study the Holocaust.

There is a young lady who survived throughout through the Holocaust and the concentration camps working in the camps. Her name is Ibolya Dawidowicz (Ibi) Ginsburg. Ibi Ginsburg is born in Hungary with her family. Ibi was born on June 7,1924 in Hungary. Ibi was born in the city of Tokaj,Hungary in Europe.

Perhaps it takes courage to raise children”. This quiet bravery led her through her life as a mother, her career as a teacher, her service to her community, and her mission to protect her country by selling Liberty Bonds during World War II. Every one of these actions is also evidence of
