There also was not very many awards given out for books during the 1920’s so The Great Gatsby did not receive any awards until later on. F. Scott Fitzgerald died December 21st, 1940. He is known as one the greatest writers in the 20th century. The Great Gatsby is Fitzgerald’s most well known book he has ever written. Gatsby is a strong willed character who was determined to be rich. Gatsby was seen many of times reaching for a green light at the end of Daisy’s dock. Gatsby was in love with Daisy he once said “ once I kissed this girl I would be forever wed to her.” Towards the end of the summer Nick realizes Gatsby is in love with Daisy as she is him. Tom soon finds out making all hell break loose. Daisy runs over Myrtle Tom’s mistress and Gatsby takes the blame. Mr.Wilson soon finds out Gatsby was the owner of the car. Mr.Wilson turned into a mad man causing him to shoot and kill himself and Gatsby. Tom and Daisy carelessly leave as always leaving someone to clean up the mess. The relationships in the book are based on materialism rather than love. In the Great Gatsby money is everything, everyone is after it. Gatsby’s whole life he wanted to better himself. He soon realized to do so he had to make something of himself. Gatsby soon met this young lady named Daisy Fay she was the golden girl. Gatsby quoted “ her voice is full of money”. Gatsby was attracted to Daisy because she would help him achieve his goals of becoming wealthy. However, Gatsby fell in love with Daisy because she had money something he did not have. Soon , after they began their love affair Gatsby had to head off to war leaving Daisy behind. They wrote to each other and Gatsby asked Daisy to wait on him but that is something she could not do. Fitzgerald uses Gatsby's dedication to fixing his relationship with Daisy to reveal that love can blind you and make you oblivious to what is happening around you. This is shown in The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby was together with Daisy Buchanan before WWI, but as Gatsby gets drafted to fight in the war, his happiness slowly fades away as he spends less time with Daisy, causing Daisy to marry Tom Buchanan. Another example from The Great Gatsby comes from how Daisy Buchanan feels after she found out that Tom Buchanan, her husband, has cheated on her and she cannot divorce him as divorce was not an idea around the time The Great Gatsby is set in. This indicates that although Daisy Buchanan is married to Tom Buchanan, she is not glad to be with him even with all his wealth as he cheated on her with another woman. However, some may argue that in The Great Gatsby, Myrtle Wilson and her husband, George Wilson, used to be happily in love with each other but slowly breaks away as she falls into the idea that money is the answer to everything.

Fitzgerald provides plenty of scenes in The Great Gatsby supporting the ideas whether Gatsby’s love was affectionate, obsession, or objectification. Fitzgerald shows that throughout the story, Gatsby slowly becomes more obsessed with Daisy as he draws closer and closer to be with her. By the end of the book, Gatsby becomes obsessed with Daisy. He only thinks about her and analyze everything in her life. Even in the beginning when the reader finally meets Gatsby, his obsession shows.
Love, a deep affection, is only complete when felt by two unique individuals. In this story Gatsby has become blinded by his affection for Daisy he does not stop to consider anything else but being with her. He has this illusion and fantasy he has longed for since a little boy in his dream. While he has obtained everything else, the fame, glory, and wealth he lacks one thing, a lover. He has his life all crafted out and Daisy was his missing piece.
In love, caring, and greedy, Gatsby gives up everything for someone who isn't worth his time but in his eyes she's perfect and everything he wants. Gatsby has made many plans to see Daisy and because of this people see him as a stalker but others see him in love. Gatsby and Daisy met when Gatsby was in the war. Gatsby fell in love with Daisy as a soldier at a dance under a moonlit sky the night before he was being shipped overseas. We can hear his thoughts.
Gatsby was raised to believe in and strive for the American dream. Money, fame and glory were almost seen as guaranteed to someone who worked hard. However, Gatsby's fixation with Daisy is seen throughout the novel. He had been in love with her for a very long time. Before Gatsby was deployed he and Daisy had a very flirty relationship, and he held on to that all through his deployment and years after.

Gatsby is a rich gentleman for multiple reasons such as he has a organized orchestra group for his mansion parties that he throws every weekend. Gatsby throws all of his parties on the weekend because he hopes to see a girl named daisy. Daisy and Gatsby used to have feelings for each other until Gatsby became broke and she found another man named Tom Buchanan. Gatsby loved daisy so much because she was the very first nice girl he had ever met. Gatsby makes Daisy his dream because his heart demands a dream, not because Daisy truly deserves the passion that Gatsby feels for her.
Gatsby could go for any girl that is considered old money, but he only has eyes for Daisy because that’s the only girl he has ever gone for. While he was in the war, Daisy was the only girl he had ever loved, therefore, she was the only girl that he has ever tried to be with. Also, Tom uses his money to basically buy Daisy’s love showing that he wants to have love in his life.
