Zombies, like other legendary creatures, are not real. People argue about the existence of zombies; some claim they exist, while others say zombies are an imaginary gothic thrill. Zombies’ converged around the belief that a dead person can be revived by a bokor as his salve. Despite zombies’ Haitian origins, zombies in US films and TV depictions, such as The Walking Dead have been absent. Nevertheless, people are not done with this creature yet as zombies remain an important subject in contemporary American culture. Zombies have become increasingly popular in horror movies and narratives; however, there is no such thing as a zombie in real life. Personally, I believe that zombies do not exist. It is impossible for someone to be able to bring
I still would not believe in ghosts not matter how many stories I had heard, had I not had the experience that I did. I believe ghost are real because of my
But are there real ones, too? yes, according to ethnobotanist wade Davis. in his 1985 book The Serpent and the Rainbow, he investigates zombification and vodoun culture in Haiti and uncovers the strange tale of Clairvius Narcisse. The man was pronounced dead on May 2,1964, three days after he had Checked into a hospital complaining of flu like symptoms and coughing up blood. Eighteen years later, Narcisse presented himself to his long-lost sister with a boyhood nickname that only family knew.
The history of zombies is sort of interesting. It has seemed to have started in Haiti. They believed in witchcraft and voodoo, which is why the legend started there. At one point there was even a scientist that believed that he found a powder that could turn humans into a zombie like form. It is also believed that we like zombie shows and movies so much because it allows us to explore the end of the world while still being able to sleep at night.
It's is hard enough in the world with things people are afraid of or worried about throughout life. what if life was just something that may not be as important, that maybe death is the greater option. As there is life, there is death too. Everything that is born starts its journey to the final destination. Death is an inevitable part of our lives that can neither be controlled nor denied. The only thing that people can do about it is to deal with it. The article “Mortal Remains” from Thomas Lynch talks about the new trends in America.
Every year in the United States, we are saddened by the news of more mass shootings. Whether it takes place in a school or public area, these shootings are both disastrous and mortifying. In 1990, congress passed and the president signed the gun-free school Zone Act (“National Crime Prevention Council” 1). This law was developed to keep students and staff safe from guns and other weapons. In a survey done by the National school safety center in 2001, more than 60 percent of high school boys and 15 percent of middle school boys said they could get a gun if they wanted to (“Texas Crime Prevention”1).
People have different opinions on issues every day which can cause controversy, a disagreement or heated conflict over opposing ideas. These issues can lead to controversy in everyday life and zombie based violence is one of these examples. Zombie based violence has many different ways that an apocalypse could happen. One way is with a deadly virus that infects human beings causing them to transform into a flesh eating monster. Although zombies are just a myth people still believe a zombie apocalypse will arise, zombies create fear in humans because of the different methods an outbreak can occur.
Zombie, as a sub-genre of horror, seems to start to bore its audience with similar concepts and scenarios. Tired of cliches, some writers like Issac Marion have began to explore the new possibilities within the genre through genre mixing. In his book Warm Bodies, Marion breaks out of the traditional zombie genre tweaking zombie conventions and incorporating romance to add more varieties to the existing zombie template and to let the zombie return to its shocking roots. Warm Bodies manipulates the idea of what zombies are like in order to show the audience something they have never seen before in the zombie genre. Unlike other zombie novels, the most controversial aspect of Warm Bodies is that the zombies are aware of themselves and other people.
Spooky things exist to feed off people’s emotions. People normally view these spooky things using a set rules or scale to judge these type of monsters. This is how people are aware of the situations that they are in. In order to escape this situation, people must think about it to themselves. Due to these situations, people of our community watch horror movies in order to simulate the idea of spooky things for the future.
Anyone today has probably seen at least one zombie movie or television show, and knows how to kill the zombie. The character will shoot it in the head and keep going until either they are all the zombies are gone or they are dead. This concept can be related back to modern life, which is another reason people love zombies they love to see something that they can relate to. In the movies the zombies never seem to stop coming, which can be related to many things that go on in people’s lives. In Klosterman’s article he compares killing zombies to deleting emails saying that “the zombies will never stop coming” and that “the principle downside to life is that you will never be finished with what you do”.
Celebrating Death “Death,” defined as the end of the life of a person, is a word that may frighten humans but at the same time a word that we make fun of. Different cultures follow their own traditions, which through years have been passed down from generation to generation. Two main holidays that allude the absence of life are Halloween and the Day of the Dead. Although the two of them intend to bring the family together, they can differ a lot when analyzed carefully.

I was putting my Halloween costume on when I heard something moving in my closet. I turn to the closet door half dressed with a curious look on my face. In my mind, it being Halloween, I thought I was just hearing things or my little brother was playing a prank on me. I walk out the door to my room, down the stairs and as I was about to walk out the front door my father caught me, “Where are you going?” he asked “Out, it’s
In today’s society, it is nearly impossible to go a few weeks, let alone months, without hearing about a new zombie themed movie or book. Our world today seems completely enthralled with all things apocalyptic and zombie related. Nearly everyone has seen an episode of The Walking Dead, or at the very least heard of it, considering it’s working on its eighth season right now with each episode reaching millions of people. Zombies are a trendy topic in our society today, but why? What is our culture's obsession with the living dead?
Ghosts can appear in various forms, they can appear as ectoplasm, shadows, poltergeists or demons. Many of us don't actually believe in ghosts, but in energy. Some believe that as the law says "energy is neither created nor destroyed", and based on that physical principle we question to ourselves: where does our energy go to after life?. Thus, most of the paranormal events that take place in daily life might
