We are often told that it’s ok to be different. My younger version would definitely agree. Growing up Indian, I had the benefit of teachers repeating instructions a bit louder and slower. I never worried about getting injured on the baseball field, because I got to sit on the bench. My parents never had to worry about driving me to sleepovers, though I was seemingly friends with everyone in school.
Junior Spirit from the novel “ The absolutely true diary of a part -time Indian” has many dreams and hopes he wants to achieve. He has to go through many obstacles to get what he desires. The whole novel itself has many different outcomes for a theme but in my opinionn, his dreams are the main one. Junior Spirit is a 14- year old Indian boy who lives with his family and other Indians in the rez. In the rez, Junior is more of an outsider than a popular kid.
Sometimes when you think someone has given up all hope, they might just surprise you and run; run towards their dreams and use the last glimmer of hope they had left. They surprise you with their sudden barrage of inspiration. Mary Spirit from The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie is a prime example of sudden inspiration and spontaneity however, at first this side of Mary is certainly hidden. When I was first introduced to Mary I felt that she had an intimidating and frigid attitude. Arnold states “After high school, my sister just froze.

American Studies Art Review I have chosen to write a review about George Catlin whose field of work was primitive Indians or Native Americans. His work was a uphill battle. It was an uphill battle because the rest of society thought as native American as less than human. He was the first white man to portrait plains indians in their native territory. Looking over the many portraits he painted of native Americans it clearly shows the pride and honor they had for themselves.
In Sherman Alexie’s story “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian”, Arnold has many odds stacked against him having a successful experience when transferring to Reardan high school. Despite being quite smart, he is not taken seriously when sharing his knowledge because of his race. After being humiliated by his new science teacher Mr.Dodge in class, Arnold thinks to himself, “I remember when people used to think I was smart” (Alexie p.86). Another factor that made his transfer harder was his speech impediments. Arnold suffers from a lisp and a stutter and was often bullied for them back at his old school.

One of the students from the schools, Eastman, had learned to respect elderly and be generous to the poor plus other things that helped him to have a bright future. (Indian school) The wolf girls had returned home after they had gone through all the phases of change but did not become part of society at least not told in the book.
