Did you know that Malala has her own “Malala Day” in the United Nations, and Alex Lin got his own bill passed when he was only a teen? Both of these people are or were teen activists. You may be asking what a teen activist is. A teen activist is a teen that is speaking up against something that is wrong. A teen activist might start marches, rallies, and speeches that support their cause.

Teen Activism Have you ever heard of teen activism? Teen activism is youth engagement in community organization for for social change. Teens and the Dystopian Society Have you ever thought about living in a dystopian society. A dystopian society is being controlled by officials. This means that you are limited to the things that you can do alone. This wouldn’t affect some teens that live in a very strict environment, with strict parents. Some teens would want to get out of that kind of environment because they want to have a little more freedom.

It is important for parents to stop labeling everything thing their teen does as “teen rebellion” (Abowitz). And to stop overly judging what their sons/daughters wears, listen to, and how they speak; the more we label them as teen rebels, the more they will feel like they are

Malala Essay Malala Yousafzai. An empowering, determined woman who battled against the malevolent force of the Taliban, and triumphantly advocates for women’s education and equality in her self-written novel I Am Malala and beyond. The young, nobel prize winning activist not only preaches for women to fight the odds and societal stereotypes, but she remains a role model amongst the female population as she has rallied and galvanized women from around the world to hold themselves at a higher standard than they are perceived. After a life threatening injury from a bullet wound to the skull by the Taliban, Malala has made it a personal goal to speak for the kids who remain voiceless and unspoken, and to fight against the injustice lurking within societies on an international level.

There are many Teen activists in the world. And they all have a lot in common and a lot they do different. All teen activists have to speak out to spread the word of their claim. For example, Malala Yousafzai chose to go worldwide and got on youtube and tv interviews. Alex Lin however did not he didn’t have as big of a problem so he stayed local in his community and spread the word by mouth in his community.

Malala stood up against the taliban, and demanded the right of education for girls. She has rallied the world in the fight to educate young girls, and children in general. But her greatest gift has been to demonstrate to everyone around the world, that it is possible to stand up against what is wrong. Then there is slacktivism which refers to the actions that are performed via the Internet to support and stand up to a political or social cause but which can be regarded as requiring little time, effort and involvement, e.g. signing an online petition or joining a campaign group on a social media website. Yousafzai first started to speak up for her rights when a mafti wanted her father’s school to close.
