Task Force Project- Applying Theory Applying any behavioral theory to elevate the behaviors of health has many barriers when developing an intervention. When making decisions in regards to the main goal of the intervention, the target audience need to be kept in mind. There are several theoretical approaches that address the needs of specific behavior that need to be completely changed or modified. Transtheoretical Model of Change and the Social Cognitive Theory are the two theories that are offered for change a unhealthy behavior. Throughout the behavioral change portion of the course, I found the opportunity to explore the role of the transtheoretical model and its practical application to life. Regardless of an individual’s status, one is capable of recognizing this pattern in their own life on both a personal and community wide level. As I was digging deeper into the logistics of the theory, I discovered behavior changes I would like to alter in the future. I will sort through the effective pathway to grasp strategies to implement into my own life. In order to begin this process, one must understand the theory as a whole.
How does the process of exercise change apply to the stages of changes as identified in the Transtheoretical Model (TTM)? The Transtheoretical Model (TTM): proposes that individuals pass through five main stages as their behavior changes from ‘unhealthy’ to ‘healthy’. In addition to these five stages, the model incorporates 10 social and psychological processes of change which are thought to be important in the transition through the stages. The stages and processes of change are generally presented in pictorial form as a circle to illustrate the proposition that individuals can move backwards as well as forwards through the stages 2.
Parents need to be role models for their children when it comes to sexuality. They should be a haven there to answer any questions they may have to prevent unhealthy sexual habits (Skosana et al.). This includes crossing cultural boundaries in sexual health. In diverse cultures the appropriate age to have children differs. However, we know that in everyone, no matter the culture, teen pregnancy leads to high rates of school dropouts and poverty (Skosana et al.).
All of the major theories of health behaviour, such as protection motivation theory, the health belief model and the theory of reasoned action/planned behaviour include self-efficacy as a key component (Maddux, 2009). However, Bandura’s self-efficacy model is the most widely
This analogy resonated with the students, and they began participating more. Like high schoolers without interest in learning, some patients have no interest in living a healthier lifestyle. The techniques and experience I used with my students can be directly applied to my patients to encourage them to want to learn how to be healthy, which I can then

I like the cues to action category because it shows a positive message to the youth population about condom education and safe sex. The final category that makes up the Health Belief Model is Self-Efficacy. This category is defined as confidence in one’s ability to take action. I believe that is this the highest and most challenging category for a person to reach because he or she would have to stay disciplined about their health. Self efficacy is based on feelings of self confidence and control.
Done the right way, this increases your sense of what you can accomplish; Psychologist say your self-efficacy is increased.”
Schools are more influence than other places on teens. “Schools are an important site of influence on teens’ sexual behaviors, more so than neighborhoods” (Mollborn). This is how important schools are in the life of teenager. Also, how important education is. Therefore, teens that become pregnant are not properly prepared for motherhood.
Short Review Of The Secret Brain System People learn by doing. What little kid hasn’t touched the scorching hot iron, even after his mom or dad told him not to? Once he burned his hand, then he figured out for himself that to touch a hot iron means to get hurt, and his brain filed away that information as something never to do again. But sometimes people fall into bad habits that make them keep in doing things that aren’t good for them.
This class revolved around understanding addiction by giving ups something I enjoyed while gaining insight through group therapy. At the beginning of this class, I became very resentful and frustrated when I learned that I must give-up something that I enjoyed. You see, I am in recovery and I work with my personal addiction issues on a daily basis and did not think this class was teaching me anything new. But, once I wrapped my mind around how I would accept this new challenge, my life became more interesting and I started to look at things a little differently.
