Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to help the company in discussion (TJX Canada) achieve better employee productivity and results by identifying the most important position in the company –Sales associate- analyzing its skills’ requirements and tasks and then projecting a revised recruitment and selection process for this position. TJX Canada faces difficulty in creating its brand image, as it doesn’t constitute of one particular brand/type of product, instead it brings various designers together on one platform. Additionally, in order to compete in the retail marketplace, businesses must expand to reach the widest audience possible., there’s a lot of room for expansion for TJX but it still quite lacks capturing the market because this expansion may require additional resources on the retail side of the operations, as well as additional expenditures. The manufacturing side also must be considered with regard to increased output requirements to keep pace with the retail expansion. We cannot ignore the fact that for this type of business, the company has to abide by the vendors’ terms and contract agreements. They have to be very careful while advertising and marketing their products which may restrict their promotional activities. Despite the fact that TJX provides a very friendly work environment, it is also true that it has oversupply of part-time workers in-stores almost throughout the year, this results in an unfair allocation of work-hours, leaving most of the employees with lesser opportunities of earning which leads to them eventually resigning. …show more content…

To ensure that products appear in the right store area, at the appropriate time and in the correct quantities. This involves working closely with guidelines to accurately forecast trends, plan stock levels and monitor performance. Recovery: In a retail TJX store, it is a part of your job to recover items from the store overall, especially the fitting rooms and front service desk and put them back in their appropriate places so they are available to be shopped at all times. As the store is recovering from the rush of customers that affect the model appearance the store wants to portray. Merchandise may be put in the wrong area, or customers may leave debris on the floor. Correcting these issues is a part of the recovery process. This is an ongoing cycle, the retail environment is fast paced and requires your quickest responses at all times. Loss Prevention: It is extremely important for a sales associate to be aware of loss prevention guidelines. Retail loss prevention is a set of practices employed to preserve profits by reducing preventable losses. This involves keeping an eye out and reporting any suspicious activity to the managers, paying more attention to item-by-item merchandise process, also preventing internal/external theft and paperwork
