Night Essay Symbolism is a very creative and different thing. When we did musicals in Elementary school we had characters that symbolized different people and or characters. In the novel Night, there were many uses of symbolism. In this essay we will go over the use of fire, the description of Juliek’s violin and Elie’s use of the corpse as symbolism. The topic of this essay is to show you the use of symbolism, which was used a lot throughout the novel.
One example of symbolism throughout the story was FIRE. Burning ditch o’babies was a detail of this. The fire was bright and scary. It symbolized death in the novel. Babies were getting killed and burned .another detail was the crematory ovens. It was another symbol of fire and death. One

Juliek was playing her violin in the pitch black and what was symbolized was as when she was playing it was as if her soul was the bow. Another detail was the violin corpse. The corpse was Elie having humility from his life. My last concrete detail is the violin. The music is played so beautifully it has a meaning and it symbolizes the bodies, the Jews and the spirits.
My last topic of symbolism is the corpses. The corpses symbolized a lot of things. They symbolized death life sadness. The babies in the ditch symbolized death. They were being thrown into a fiery ditch. Another detail is Elie’s soup. It was nasty and tasted like corpses. It was not a fresh soup taste. It tasted like death to him. My last concrete detail is himself looking at himself in the mirror. He looks like a dead body he feels dead inside. That is what is symbolized there.
To conclude everything let’s review everything. We learned today that fire, Juliek’s violin and corpses were used as symbolism through the novel Night. In the novel there were many examples of symbolism. There were even some that I was not able to explain to you. The book is used so beautifully and is so complex. Just as a musical is complex and symbolizes characters and places and stuff. Our story does the same thing. It connects with the musical because they both symbolize
There are a lot of themes in “Night” but there are a couple really big themes that are important for the reader to know, and understand and I am going to be talking about them threw this essay. Team work is a big theme with the “Night” because Ellie and his father place in a concentration camp where they are forced to work to death. They have to work with each other to survive the hard times. In the book Ellie feeds his father when he is weak and sick. They also got to work with each other in a factory to put things together or else they will be killed.
In the second painting, representing chapters 4-6 of Night, it shows more of what life was like inside the concentration camps for Elie. Things there were very dark and sad so therefore the sky is very frightening and messy. There is also gray clouds in the sky and over Elies Head. These clouds and dreadful and followed Elie everywhere, mentally. Also, throughout Elie’s time in the camp he became a slave to the Holocaust and lost a lot of things in his life.
“Never shall I forget the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed, and seven times sealed” (Wiesel 32). As portrayed in this passage from Elie Wiesel’s memoir Night, “night” is used numerous times as a central symbol. The nonfiction novel takes place during the Holocaust throughout several concentration camps. The word “night” literally means the period of darkness in each twenty-four hours; the time from sunset to sunrise, but symbolically it commonly represents sadness, fear, and negative commendations.
Another symbol comes from the food Tita makes and how it affects not only herself, but others around her. Finally, the symbol of fire produces passion and love inside of the characters in the novel and propel the story of the love between Tita and Pedro.
The symbolism of night brings out the more prominent message. Night is used throughout the book to symbolize death. The idea of night is always invoked when the torment is the worst. Elie experiences many life changing events during the night. The incident that impacted Elie the most was the passing of
An important symbol that reoccurs in the story is fire. The first appearance of fire in the story was when Madame Schächter envisioned fire while on their way to the camp. Elie has had a nightmare where he sees Nazis burning small infants in a ditch. In the war, Nazis used to cremate their prisoners whether they were dead or alive.
During the Holocaust, the yellow star badge was assigned to the Jews during Hitler’s reign. This badge is a good example of a symbol. To Hitler and the Nazis, the yellow star symbolized that whomever wore it was a Jew. To the Jews, whomever wore this badge were to be sent to the concentration camps. They either worked there, were cremated at the crematory, or both.
One significant symbol within the story is the stones in which are used to kill the chosen individual. The stones allow everyone in the village no matter the age to participate in the barbaric ritual effortlessly. The most shocking
The first example of symbolism, is “villagers” in the second paragraph. This word symbolizes the people that judge people by looks. This conveys the theme because these people are shown to be mean but symbolize judgers. In conclusion don’t judge a person.
However, in literary works, authors purposefully use symbolism to convey complex ideas and create impact by giving things additional meaning. In Ethan Frome, Edith Wharton uses the symbolism of the graveyard, the pickle dish, and the winter setting to illustrate the feelings and the troubles that the characters endure throughout the story. In Ethan Frome, Wharton portrays the graveyard as a symbol. The graveyard symbolizes two things.
Often in literature, authors employ the use of a symbol to artistically reveal a message. In her novel Ethan Frome, Edith Wharton utilizes numerous symbols to subtly illuminate to her readers the complex relationship between Ethan and the world around him and to attach a deeper meaning to the work as a whole. Perhaps the most enlightening symbol found in Wharton’s tale of a love that could never be is that of winter. In many works of literature, a wintertime setting evokes a sense of perpetual coldness (both in temperature and in reference to a lack of affection or warmth of feeling) and it inherently provokes associations of death, misery, and isolation. These ideas are most certainly applicable to the melancholy atmosphere that the wintertime

The story’s use of symbols hides all these details inside trivial things such as the purpose of the 3 islands, the paper and the boy, himself. To conclude, these symbolisms represent the 3 recurring themes of the world and the loss of
