This tilt of the Earth causes hemispheres to be tilted towards or away the sun, making one hotter while the other colder. When the Earth is tilted towards the sun its summer, when it’s tilted away from the sun, its winter. Equinoxes refer to a time where the Earth is tilted neither towards or away from the sun, resulting in nearly equal amounts of daylight and darkness at all latitudes, this occurs twice a year. Solstices also correlate to the tilt of the Earth.
