The “Making a Murder” television series is a series that focuses on a small town crime that goes nationwide. Steven Avery is the main focus in the series. A man that is apart of a family owned business is convicted of a crime that he did not commit. He still served his sentence until the justice system realized their mistake. Although he was innocent of the crime, it still left the man with a bad reputation. Steven Avery was determined to make the justice system pay for all the years of life he missed out on. He experienced the divorce of his wife, and not being able to see his children. No amount of money could get that back, but he still wanted money for being locked away for 18 years. Mr. Avery began to pursue a court case to get money from the government to pay for what they did to the man who was thought to be guilty of sexually assaulting a woman. The court soon grew to be known nationwide. People could not believe the justice system could have locked up a man who was innocent. It was almost to his court hearing to get $400,000 back. Then something tragic happened to Mr. Avery. A woman named Theresa Halbach was reported missing, and was last seen at Stevens residence. He was now a suspect for a new crime. …show more content…
The very long and gruesome court case was set to prove Mr. Avery was guilty of murdering Theresa Halbach. It was a very controversial case that went on for many years. Evidence pointed to Steven has the murder, and then some said he could not have possibly murdered her. Steven Avery was not the only person involved in the murder case. Stevens nephew, Brendan Dassey, was also brought into the mix. A boy who lacked intelligence was falsely accused of assisting Steven in the heinous crime. Brendan ended up giving prosecutors a coerced confession. It was a very confusing case, but Steven and Brendan were convicted of the
“The Monsterization of Trayvon Martin,” by Patricia J. Williams, is an article written about the demonization of a young black man after his killer was put on trial and, ultimately, was acquitted of any charges against him. I would not say that the writer, Williams, is emotional. But their argument certainly focuses on pathos. She describes how the young man was changed from an innocent boy to an “immense, drug-addled ‘thug’” in the eyes of the public in comparison to both the treatment that the accused received, as well as compared to a similar yet racially reversed death that had occurred in 2007. Williams also uses ethos, while questioning whether the “stand your ground” law that was in question was ethically fair, pointing out that it’s
Even when Michael’s new defense team, through the innocence project, found a crime that was eerily similar to the method of murder and subsequent events to the one that Michael was convicted of, the new prosecutor in Williamson County fought hard to keep DNA testing from taking place, even stating that they objected to the testing now because the defense hadn’t requested it before (Morton, 2014). There was further evidence of ineffectiveness in that the coroner who’d changed his estimated time of death between the autopsy and trial, had come under scrutiny for his findings in this case, as well as several others, with claims of gross errors “including one case where he came to the conclusion that a man who’d been stabbed in the back had committed suicide” (Morton, 2014). This was only one of the many injustices that were committed against Michael Morton throughout his trial. In August of 2006, the defense was finally granted permission to perform DNA testing on the items that had been taken from his wife’s body (Morton, 2014). Although this testing did not reveal any information about the guilty party, it did at least give Michael the knowledge that Chris was not sexually violated before or after her death (Morton,
During Steven's trial despite being under 18, he was charged and ordered to stand trial as an adult offender. Throughout his trial, Steven always remained that he was innocent and that when he left Lynne at the intersection
At the trial, Steven pleaded not guilty for the entire thing, but there were three pieces of evidence securing the conviction. The first piece of evidence, was that Lynne died before 7:45 p.m. This was crucial because Truscott was back on the school grounds at 8pm, so if Harper had died past 8pm, Truscott would have had alibi. Although this evidence was backed up by Dr. Penistan, who had performed Harper's autopsy, and stated that based on the contents of Lynne's stomach, he believed that she died before 7:45 p.m. on the night she disappeared. Even though there were two prior possibilities as to when Harper had died, that would have proven Truscott innocent, the court still accepted this because there was more evidence to consider. The second
Steven Avery is a well known name in the criminal courts and known for many crimes. Burning a family cat, running his cousin off the road and pointing a gun at her, beating and raping Penny Bernsteen. Although his name is quite common, and he has some faults did he really murder Teresa Halbach? I believe that Steven Avery is innocent, he did not do it. A lot of the information and evidence seems to be misleading or deceiving.
The bias and bigotry alive in two communities propelled forward the conviction of two guilt free individuals. There was never any significant correlation between Tom Robinson and Steven Avery, that is until Steven Avery was accused and sentenced for a crime he did not commit; much like the famous character Tom Robinson from Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. The foundation of such trials, despite baring significant faults, proved strong enough to condemn. Although the Tom Robinson case and the Steven Avery case possess striking differences their resemblances are exceedingly pronounced.
Steve likes to do films. Steve is still young and what killer waves to their mom when they're in trial unless they're innocent. He loves his little brother. He wants to get back to school. Steve was found not guilty.
In July 2008, the Criminal Justice System began one the most horrified case in the United States. This case called the attention of many civilians around the nation; making it one of the most controversial cases in this time. However, Casey Anthony was the primary suspect in this case, the police have enough evidence to arrest her. After Anthony Casey arrest the trial begin until the case was resolved and a sentence is concluded. It is a process involved different government agencies.

Want to stay up until 3 am, talking about our obsession with the newest episode from “How to Get Away With Murder?” - I think Professor Annalise Keating killed her husband. In the mood to break out into a weird dance while singing “Don’t Stop Believing?” - I did the high notes in “Rockin’ Robin” for my Acapella chorus.
