“Behind every person is a story, behind every story is a person. So think before you judge, because judging someone doesn’t label them, it labels who you are.” This quote by an anonymous source, means that people should not judge others, because you never know what that person has or is going through. When John travels to Earth he comes with a man named Henri that acts as his father while on Earth, and is supposed to teach John how to use his powers when he develops them. During a battle against the Mogadorians when they find them, Henri says, “‘No. Don’t give up hope just yet. It’s the last thing to go. When you have lost hope, you have lost everything. And when you think all is lost, when all is dire and bleak, there is always hope”’ (Lore 383). According to the quote, the lesson taught in I Am Number Four is to never give up hope, the characters go through many challenges but they keep moving forward and work to help others, even when unsure of how it will all end. In the book he has to face monster type creatures called Mogadorians. These creatures in this book serve more than just to scare John. Just like it was said in the chapter, these monsters represent other things. In this book, these monsters represent taking the innocence from kids because of their immaturity. Across the world, many people struggle with giving up, but in the story “fly away home” by “Eve Bunting” Andrew, a kid that lives in an airport with only his dad, and the protagonist does the exact opposite of that, he never gives up on his dream of getting an apartment, here are some reasons why, one reason how is that andrew wants an apartment and even though he would have to save a lot of money and it would take a lot of time he still did not give up. Also, getting an apartment would give andrew a lot of self confidence. The first reason why Andrew does not give up is that he knows if he gives up he will never reach his goal of getting an apartment. For example,Andrew saves money in his shoe
Stereotypes in Maycomb rule the town. In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, people are expected to be in a certain social standing, and to never cross the stereotypical line. Everyone knows their place, and people socialize within their assigned groups. If the line is ever crossed, there are serious consequences.
Different stereotypes were discussed in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, such as the stereotype of Arthur Radley, Tom Robinson and Jean Louise Finch. Arthur Radley is stereotyped as cruel when he is kind, Tom Robinson is racially stereotyped as a criminal due to his skin color and Jean Louise Finch is sexually stereotyped. Arthur Radley or Boo Radley was stereotyped as creepy and cruel, though his true personality isn’t that. For example, “As Mr Radley passed by, Boo drove the scissors into his parent’s leg, pulled them out, wiped them on his pants, and resumed his activities.” (Lee, 12)
Atticus tells Scout “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it,” (p. 39). because he wants her to know that to understand the things Miss Caroline does, Scout must try and look at it from their perspective. Scout does this when she remarks, “She had learned not to hand something to a Cunningham, for one thing, but if Walter and I had put ourselves in her shoes we’d have seen it as an honest mistake on her part.” (p. 40). Atticus is attempting to make Scout realize Miss Caroline won’t know everything about Maycomb in a day.
In the southern gothic novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, the many incidences of social prejudice and limited expectations can lead to societies’ blindness of reality. In society, social prejudice not only goes along with limited expectations of people, but it is a main factor in stereotypes. In society, stereotypes often lead to closed mindedness and blindness to reality. In To Kill A Mockingbird, society tends to stereotype many of the citizens in Maycomb, one being Arthur (Boo) Radley. “Old Mrs. Radley died that winter, but her death caused hardly a ripple- the neighborhood seldom saw her, except when she watered her cannas.
In the face of hysteria, John decides not to focus on himself, instead he
To Kill A Mockingbird Essay “My goal is to be myself, and to challenge stereotypes, and to follow the rules, and break them, and make new rules. It’s not about doing something that’s already been done. That would be silly”(Sasha Grey). This quote relates to the book because traditional roles of men and women were broken by the characters Scout and Jem. Men and women are represented by typical stereotypes and gender roles in the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
The life lessons that can be learned from this book will inspire the reader to go out and push the limits of what they thought was
Judgement is often placed on the people of Maycomb. Generally, the women of Maycomb gossip about the people in the town based on stereotypes. Subsequently, the men in the town then act on the statements that were made by the women. Because of the adults the children often join in the banter, which evidently makes the cycle continue even as they get older. People repeatedly judge others based on stereotypes.
If people give up all the time individuals will never get far in life or become successful, but if people try their best until people get better or at least try, people are less likely to fail. To begin, in the realistic fiction novel, Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, there is a kid named Brian Robeson whose parents are divorced. So he gets on a plane to go see his dad, but usually stays mainly with his mom. When he goes on the plane for the first time since the divorce his plane crashes in the middle of a forest. Brian has to learn how to survive in the wilderness and hope he gets saved.
In The movie John collaborated with himself and the rest of the group. John addressed both of his own and the groups needs. By sacrificing himself to get caught by the teacher in the
