Have you ever been stereotyped? In fact, millions of people have been stereotyped since the 15th century. Stereotyping scenarios is sometimes used if necessary, stereotyping is a belief of an animate object, it's very likely to happen around the world, Many stereotypes happen when there is a foreigner in another country. Stereotyping is only a belief and could be changed over time, stereotyping can only happen when you see someone that you think has whatever characteristics. Both stories represent stereotypes, Furthermore, the book “The outsiders” by SE hilton presentation is more convincing than the book “The Friday Everything Changed” by Anne Hart.

Over the past week, I was tasked to choose between one of two articles that all of the incoming freshman at Union County College in preparation for the up and coming school year. This decision will forever change the way the incoming students will do before stereotyping a certain race, religion, or sexual preference. One of the articles I had to choose from was called, “Don’t Let Stereotypes Warp Your Judgments” By Robert L. Heilbroner, while the other one was called, “Black Men and Public Space” by Brent Staples. It appears that stereotypes highlighted in the documentary are still in use today. This is problematic because it shows that things have not changed and that history is repeating itself. However, the movie industry is not totally at fault. The media plays a huge role in portraying Indigenous people negatively. Moreover, the stereotypes provided by the media demonstrate how wrong and insensitive society is.

Diversity and ethics can greatly affect the selections of projects and programs such as books, films, products, advertise, etc. The aspects that can affect projects and programs include ethics, stereotypes, ethnicity, sexism, and target audience. Stereotypes can be formed due to effects of media, as Wood describes media as pervasive, powerful and influential (31). Hence, stereotypes can be defined as inaccurate perceptions towards a group of people or community that is strongly influenced by the media. Whether positive or negative, stereotypes are usually false as they are formed based on personal judgments, which are biased or exaggerated. When stereotypes are consistently portrayed in media platforms, they subconsciously form and maintain assumed identities for the stereotyped groups.

Just because stereotypes are placed on the extremely high class and the extreme low class, it doesn't mean that they can't go against the stereotype that’s placed on them. In the book The Outsider, by S.E. Hinton, Ponyboy and his friends are greasers who struggle with lack of money. A typical greaser is a person that greasy hair, smokes, doesn't try in school, doesn't have a job, and will stay in one spot for the rest of their lives. The Socs consistently try to get into fights with them whenever they get the chance because they are from two different social classes. The Socs look down upon the greasers and think they're stupid, non emotional, and could never do something good.

While some believe not all assumptions and stereotypes are bad, but they force people of the group to fit in a generalized description stripping individuals of their uniqueness. According to the article, “ Positive Stereotypes Are Pervasive and Powerful” by Alexander M. Czopp, Aaron C. Kay, Sapna Cheryan, “even norms that emphasize and encourage superficial attempts to demonstrate inclusiveness, diversity, and multiculturalism at personal and institutional levels...often come with subtle but substantial costs.” There no are such things as positive stereotypes because although affiliating one’s identity with the stereotypic strengths of their social group can have a more immediate response towards group pride and collective self-esteem,

I would say "the others" in our society, as Americans, would be anything that resembles a Islamic person. Also, another example of "the others" in our society could be anyone that just isn't in the norm of our religion. People that look different such as Hindu's, Jews, or Tao people. The best way to treat something like this and figure out a way to stop the negative beliefs is to practice what you preach. Most religions have a golden rule or some sort of variation of it.

This essay discusses about stereotypes vs reality. The stereotype is what people think about you and how they see you. The reality is the real you and the real stereotypes about you. Stereotyping is something that everyone does and it will never stop.

The purpose of our research study was to discover if our hypothesis was probable. Our hypothesis looked to confirm that there will be a negative relationship between perceived critical thinking ability of peers and rank. Specifically, perceived critical thinking ability of peers will decrease consistently from freshmen-level through senior-level. Our research consisted of 71 participants who’s results indicated our hypothesis to be true. Their results showed that undergraduate students perceived themselves as possessing higher critical thinking ability than their peers.

Although they can have positive and negative effects, ; the last is much more common and easily spread throughout social institutions, such as mass media, that which is using stereotypes, based on the assumption , that they are well known to everyone and help the receivers to understand the content of the message. Stereotypes have a negative effect when it published throughout the mass media.

It was more important for boys to receive an education than it was for girls. Some colonists believed that boys should have more education than girls. Why Boys? Why not girls? Why was it important for boys to have more education than girls?
