In every soldier 's heart, it’s just as cold and sad as the snow around them. General George Washington took thousands of men across the Delaware River to Valley Forge which was eighteen miles from Philadelphia, in which the men wait. But Washington needs men to fight. And winter is coming brutal and with no mercy, are you going to stay and fight? Or leave to go back to a normal life?

1. Describe the study design (is it correlational, experimental, survey research, etc.). The study is Level 3, experimental. The participants are within subject design experiences because since the subjects were divided into two groups by gender.

In the book, Soldier Boys, by Dean Hughes two boys who are on opposite sides of the war tell their struggles and stories of battle in the War and how their two different lives collide together. The author of the book, Dean Hughes, has spent 7 years doing research on World War II and finding information about the war. Dean Hughes has interviewed war veterans, studied newspapers that were written in the time of World War II, and read hundreds of books like, “The Burden of Hitler 's Legacy” by Alfons Hecks to help his understanding of this time period and events. With all this information and facts he collected, he wrote the book, Soldier Boys. The years that World War II took place was in between 1939 to 1945 and around those years the holocaust

Substance Abuse in Returning Combat Veterans Returning combat veterans have difficulties contributing to our society based on their problems with substance abuse. There is an issue of returning combat veterans not being able to afford treatment for their illnesses, so they resort to self-medicating and use drugs and alcohol. Although it is worth considering that some combat veterans manage to escape their addiction for some time, but will usually end up relapsing and only hurt themselves more. We may also be concerned about some combat veterans not being able to adjust to their new lives and resorting to substance abuse a method of stress relief.

As a daughter of a United States Marine, I have a real-life perspective on veterans. I have deep respect for my father, and all veterans who have put their lives on the line for America. My heart really goes out to those soldiers fighting this very moment. My brother-in-law has an old high school friend that went into the National Guard. While this friend was away he encountered a form of great disrespect.

The purpose of the intertextuality approach to writings is to think and analyze the relationship between two works. Although “The Coffee Room Soldier” and “The Things They Carried” are from different experiences and two different stories about war, both correlate to each other in having similar tones and emotions about their experiences. The poem “The Coffee Room Soldier” is from a nurse’s view of war and tragedy and the short story “The Things They Carried” is a short story, both have similar thoughts and emotions about war. In “The Things They Carried” Tim O’Brien uses a very interesting style when writing this story.

How many people have been over seas to protect our country and saw the devastation that war can hold in person? Many people think about this question and wonder. A good majority of people have regular good paying jobs. Still many people dislike the fact of working for a business or office setting. Some people have been through the dark side and back.

We don 't typically stop to think about our freedom, it is something most of us are guilty of taking for granted. Even when our freedom is brought to our attention, it is only a brief thought quickly pushed to the back of our minds. Most of us are too focused on our own hardships and shortcomings. However, there are a select few who have come to the realization that this freedom is a highly valued prize. These are the people that fight our battles for us because they value the safe haven that our country is.

Veteran’s all over the United States are retiring, getting less and less of the benefits that they used to. My brother was going to enlist and asked some people whether or not he should. They said they weren't going to tell him not to enlist, but they did say that it's not as beneficial as it was in the past. You don’t get as many benefits when you come back, as you used to. This isn’t something that should be happening.

You left your family and friends into a bloody war you could of died but you didn’t mind. You took your life for mine. You made things in life better then if you didn’t go into the war. My papa went into the war and he made it out safe. Those stripes and stars in our flag came from you.

In the poem, “What Every Soldier Should Know”, Brian Turner, details the ever-present threat of death in a war zone. This poem expesses not only the terror of the American soldiers, but also exemplifies the emotions that the Middle Eastern soldiers feel towards the American soldiers. The soldiers are experiencing death, chaos, and disorder, but for some of the middle eastern people, they experience that every day. A lot of Middle Eastern people are normal people, defending their home land, their family, and their country.

Soldiers train rigorously, preparing for the departure of war. They sacrifice all that they have to fight for their country. As they return after the war, they are left with painful experiences and traumatizing memories, suffering from their inevitable conditions. However, the spouse, families and children back at home are suffering even more than soldiers.
