Our society has many issues and problems. Many of those issues are very detectable. Such as poverty, drugs, and racism that impact our community and world as well everyday. If you listen to the news or radio and even look around at our community you can point out many other imperfections we have as a society. I feel that if we all work together we could possibly terminate some of society 's problems. When I look at society today I feel that there is a division in our world. I understand that everyone is not going to get along and like everyone, but as a society we could try harder to collaborate. Suicide is the act or an instance of taking one 's own life voluntarily and intentionally. (Giving more) The statistic on bullying and suicide is very disquieting. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year. For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 suicide attempts. (Facts)From the website PureSight Online Child Safety they wrote" Hannah Smith, a 14-year-old girl from Lutterworth, Leicestershire, England, hanged herself in her bedroom on August 3rd, 2013. Her body was discovered by her older sister. In the weeks leading up to her death, Smith had been subjected to cruel taunts and insults about her weight and a family death on Ask.fm, a question-and-answer social networking site that allows anonymous participation. Bullies on Ask.fm urged her to drink bleach and cut herself. According to Hannah 's father, she went to Ask.fm to look for advice on the skin condition eczema. After her death, Hannah 's father found a note that read: "As I sit here day by day I wonder if it 's going to get better. I want to die, I want to be free. I can 't live like this anymore. I 'm not happy". (Using Quotes) Following the suicide, Hannah 's older sister, Jo, described how, just days after discovering her younger sister 's body, she started receiving abusive messages on Facebook mocking her loss and blaming her grieving father 's parenting skills for the tragic death." As you read Hannah Smith was only 14 years old when she died. She felt belittle everyone else, and wasn 't happy with life, all because of what people were saying about her. If those people would have just taken some time to read what they had typed to Hannah, and thought about how that would affect her they wouldn 't have sent it. Suicide is definitely not something to play around with and that 's what bullies
In the story “Fan Club” by Rona Maynard, and the article “When Bullying Goes High-tech” by Elizabeth Landau, there are many connections with the topic bullying. Ashley and Rachel were both bullied by their classmates, but in different ways. We know this because on page five of “Fan Club” Rona states, “That was when Laura saw that they were all wearing little white cards with a fat frizzy, hairy figure drawn on the front, what did it mean? She looked closely, “Hortensky Fan Club” said the bright red letters.” While in “When Bullying Goes High-Tech” in paragraph 30, Elizabeth says that “When she was 11, a classmate of hers took photos of Ashley and created an entire Facebook page about her but denied doing it.
A sobering thought, considering how the public today is thoroughly inundated with advance technology that is suppose to bring us closer together, but has instead produced a more detached society with short attention
Society is a changing at unimaginable rates. Rates that can be scary for any individual because they do not want to be left behind. One slip could be the beginning of a compounding problem. Locker 212 was an interesting short film that attended to the effects of bullying in young adolescents, particularly high school students. I continue to read countless articles that recount awful episodes of bullying and feel somewhat numb to the repetitive atrocities. However, when put on screen I appreciate the reality that bullying presents to today’s adolescent. Bullying is a real problem, with real consequences.
In most cases, when we think about bullying it is approached from a psychological perspective but there is a sociological perspective that is not talked about as much. Sociologists study actions and relationships in terms of the social contexts in which people live their lives. In other words, sociology is the study of society and social interactions. Psychologists study behaviour in terms of the attributes and processes inside each individual. They focus on the people involved in the situation rather than the situation as a whole.

Many people may believe that the level of development in society is fast approaching a golden era, where a majority of conflicts will be resolved as a result of the growing awareness of societal problems and the assertiveness of people around the world. Unfortunately, due to the growing gaps between societal ideals and reality, society continues to be swamped with numerous social, political, and economic issues that negatively impact a significant number of people and their communities today. These issues arise due to a variety of factors, sometimes beyond society’s control, which results in great confusion about what is right and wrong, and if there is anything possible at all to resolve these conflicts. Specifically in the United States,
America is falling to pieces: were voting for a president that's simply funny instead of one that could change our country for the better; People are being harmed, not because they have done something wrong, simply because they are being themselves; teenagers are killing themselves because of the cruelty of society and their peers; children are obese and rather play on their parent's smartphone than play with outside with their toys or friends. The people who notice these problems and are trying to fix them are making little progress. Some people are noticing the problems and they will be the ones to change America for the better, although not enough people are noticing and wanting to change for the better so there is little progress. The people who are helping often sympathize or relate to the people being hurt for who they are.

Ladies and gentleman, technology and the media have been found to have a negative impact on a child’s behaviour. The popular Netflix television show “13 Reasons Why”, based on the novel by Jay Asher, explores cyberbullying and its impact. As the main protagonist Hannah Baker goes through a difficult time during high school, it unfortunately leads to her suicide. Although the storyline is untrue, the situations that occur are all based on of real-life situations that happened to Asher and people around him. Despite Hannah being a fictional character, she represents people dealing with issues like the ones faced on the show.

Bullying is a widespread problem in our schools and communities and has a negative impact on students’ right to learn in a safe and secure environment without fear. It is a process in which one person repeatedly uses his/her superior strength or influence to mistreat, attack or force another person to do something (Van der Werf, 2014). Bullying or peer victimization is now recognized as a complex and pervasive problem (Beran, 2009). It is an ongoing problem that is not restricted by age, race, gender or class. This behavior generally takes one of four forms, physical such as assault, verbal which involves threats or insults, social which entails exclusion or rumor spreading, and cyber which includes aggressive texts or social network posts
