Soc Vs Greasers

In the 1960’s in Tulsa, Oklahoma there was a difference between social classes and a ongoing war in this town. The Greasers were a group of people mostly dressed in leather jackets, and jeans. While the Soc’s (Rich kids) wore madres, and khakis, and even drove Mustangs. In the very beginning of the story there were clear differences between the Soc’s and Greasers. Near the end of the book the Soc’s and Greasers are very similar.

In the beginning of the story there are clear differences between a greaser and a Soc. One quote to prove this is. “Then the blue mustang was coming down the street once again”(pg38). A quote that proves my topic sentence is. “When Darry called Dally and said he needed them that shows how much they care about each other.” This proves my topic sentence because they act like brother or family to each other. They care about each other so much that the will go by the police to help a friend in need.

Throughout the novel you could see change in the characters from good to bad, from not relating to relating. A quote that proves my topic sentence is. “I killed him,” and “The pillow seemed to sink a little bit.” (pg 49,126) This proves my topic sentence because this is one of the first reasons why they are starting to be similar. Near the end of the beginning Bob Sheldon dies which is a big turning point in the story. Also One of the biggest parts in the story is when Johnny dies I feel that that is the most important part in the story.
