As human beings we visit the Waikiki Aquarium and only see the place as a paradise home for the Hawaiian Monk Seals. We do not put ourselves into the perspective of the marine animal and see the aquarium through their eyes. My story, “Bumping Into Glass Walls” promotes the idea that we may think the Hawaiian Monk Seals enjoy the aquarium but that could be a false statement. We can come to a conclusion that the Hawaiian Monk Seals do not want to be at the aquarium but end up there because of threats in the Pacific Ocean.

Waikanaloa Wet Cave is located on the north side of Kauai directly off of Highway 560. There has been some debate that the name of this cave was erroneously switched with the wet cave farther off the road called Waikapala’e. There is also a nearby dry cave called Maniniholo. Hawaiians believe that the fire goddess, Pele, gifted these caves to her lover but she later abandoned them when they became filled with water. There is parking conveniently located next to the Waikanaloa Wet Cave’s entrance.

If you were to ever go to Honoluilui you’d most likely just see a bulldozed over area. Honouliuli was a 123 acer war internment camp in Monsanto, Hawaii.

Mauna Kea Imagine the most breath- taking view. Do you think you could ever stop looking? If there was one place I 'd like to go, it would be Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea is a shield/ hotspot volcano located on the Big Island of Hawaii. I want to go to Mauna Kea because of the beautiful summit, exciting topography, as well as the otherworldly drive up and down the mountain.

Some history about Mililani is that it was first called as “Mililani” from a Native Hawaiian known as John Papa l’i in around the 1800’s. With John first exploring Kipapa Gulch and then making a homestead up in Mililani. John Papa l’i (1800-1870) was the son of the Kona chief and attendant of Prince Liholiho (1797-1824) who is also known as King Kamehameha II. Later by King Kamehameha III, John was awarded the entire Waipi’o Ahupua’a, and it also included Mililani. Later after John Papa l’i death all the lands were leased and sold to Castle & Cooke.

There are currently three active volcanoes in the state of Hawaii, all of them being on or very close to the Big Island. Mauna Loa is the oldest of them, Kilauea is the most active, and Loihi is so young in comparison to the others that it hasn’t even breached the ocean’s surface. As of 2017, The Big Island is home to a population of 186,738 while 953,207 people live on the nearby island of Oahu.

A famous and notorious place for Night Marchers sightings on the leeward side of Oahu, is Kaena point. Located near the end of Makaha, Ka’ena Point is believed to be the place where all the spirits of Hawaii jump off the leaping rock into the next dimension. Hawaiian historian, Lopaka Kapanui, is a well known supernatural tour guide of Hawaii. Showing haunted places, and telling his own stories he experienced, he once took a group of tourist out to Ka 'ena Point to talk about the Night Marchers, and the respect to show them in an encounter with one. During his tour down Ka’ena Point, Lopaka didn 't take notice that the night he was carrying out his tour on Night Marchers, was the night of no moon.

The lower parts have been submerged and desiccated, shown by the layers of travertine, strand formations, and beaches (9). Scientists can infer that the basin was once filled with seawater due to the discovery of fossilized marine shells, corals, and oysters in the rock (9). The fossils are now above tide-level showing a change in elevation of the region (9). Dr. Stephen Bowers, who studies the region, writes, "The water of the old Tertiary Sea, which once prevailed here, must have been extremely favorable to the propagation and growth of mollusks, especially oysters”. There is also evidence of volcanic activity around the area in the form of craters stemming from Pinacate, an extinct volcano (9).
