Should Kids Get Paid For Chores

Do you think parents should do their kids work? In the Scope article “Should Libby's Dad Do Her Project?,” Libby wants her dad to do her project for her. Libby says yes, but her dad said no. Libby should be doing her own work. There are many examples from the argument on why Libby should do her own work, including she would learn more if she did the project on her own, Plenty of famous people have a huge failure and are still famous, parents who do their kids projects are making a mistake.

Florence Kelley was a social worker who fought for child labor laws and she successfully improved conditions for working women. She delivered a speech for the National American Woman Suffrage Association and she used different strategies to convey and persuade the Association that child labor should end. Throughout her speech, she mainly focuses on a little girl’s experience with child labor. Not only does that connect her purpose more with her audience because they are focused mainly on WOMEN suffrage, but even if that group of people wasn’t her audience they would still connect with the little girl because of her innocence and purity.

My favorite quotation from the book is, “He wished that he, too, had a wound, a red badge of courage. (PG.40)” When Henry saw a mob of men being shot, he ran over to see them. He saw blood on each person and envied them, as they have a red badge of courage and he doesn’t. This quote states that instead of being cowards in the war, the men fought, while Henry did not do anything.

Cities improve due to innovation, but humans residing in them may not. The Industrial Revolution was a period in time where new inventions helped labor become less taxing and more efficient in the South. On the other hand, the North developed urban cities, which attracted many people. Urban cities had become the epitome of civilization: ease of life and wealth was present, but not available to everyone. To elaborate, these urban cities provided job opportunities to women.

Implementing this duty at such a young age makes these tasks seem regular to the child. This is clearly shown in Jeannette Walls's The Glass Castle. At age 13, when Jeannette is left home alone for two months to take care of her younger siblings; her mother gives her $200 to pay for expenses. When first given the money she focuses on paying for utility bills and food. Jeannette comes up with a well organized budget plan to finance themselves.

The Lesson The theme of “The Lesson” by Toni Cade Bambara, is that learning can cause discomfort but if you never come out of your comfort zone then you will never learn. In the story it expressed how minorities are oppressed due to social inequality. All children in the story have dreams of their own but the education system in the lower social class is not equal to the education system in the higher social class. Children do not have the same opportunity to expand their knowledge because of social inequality.

This relates to us because in our situation the parents are doing everything for their children much like the house does. Another quote is, “Instead of letting them go outside to play, parents filled their kid’s spare time with organized activities, did their homework for them, resolved their conflicts at school with both friends and teachers, and handed out trophies for just showing up” ( “Are We Raising a Generation of Helpless Kids?” ). This shows how much parents do for their children. They’re awarding kids for doing nothing, and that isn’t teaching them a good lesson. They’re learning that they don’t have to do anything in life and they 'll still be

As a result, family bonding is decreasing and kids are not prepared with hands on experience. Parents want to be nice, so their child will love them more and they can be the “cool dad” or “cool mom” in the child’s heart. But it should be the parents’ job to step up and do what is best for the protection of a child, which can be read in Cari Romm’s online article from The Cut, “Is It Really Possible for Parent to Be Friends With Their Kid”. Also as the world to grow wealthier, it seems children are no longer enforced with chores and responsibilities by parents possibly due to the fact that they no longer appreciate the value of money. So in result they believe that money can solve problems and responsibilities.

Why should children get payed to do chores? Do parents get payed to do chores? The answer is no, because doing chores are a part of our everyday life. While some people feel that children should get payed to do chores others believe otherwise. Children should not get payed to get chores because it teaches responsibility, appreciate what is done for us, and how to keep our homes clean and organized.

“Kids should be satisfied with the warm fuzzy feeling of accomplishment.” Is this possible when being paid for good grades? When paid for good grades, students are no longer learning for a better future, but rather just for the reward of money. If the purpose of school is to educate, does the prize of cash take that away? I believe that kids should not be paid doing the chores. Without chores, a house becomes filthy. Everyone has to do their part to keep their house clean. It’s part of family life, whether you’re being paid or not. Ifa kid only does their chores when they’re being paid, they are not doing their part full time.

Why should you get paid for chores when it’s part of everyday life? Not everyone has money to hand out for cleaning that you should already be doing. If kids were to be paid they would think it would be okay to not have a week of chores and not get paid. This would lead to dishes not be clean, no clothes to wear, and the house would be a disaster. Doing chores keeps the house in order.

Fakhri Rajab article "First Blame the Parents" is about how parents rely on maids and servants .The author discusses how parents hold maids and servants responsible for everything in the house. The article also shows kids now a day have everything done for them and how that might affect them in the future . Fahkri sees that maid hold beyond their responsibility and they don’t have enough time to spend with themselves. The author finds that some of the tasks performed by maids should be done by parents.
