The War of 1812 was a military conflict between Great Britan and the United States. It lasted roughly two and a half years, and was not an utter bloodbath, nor did it affect anything economically or territorial. Despite there not being a true victor of The War of 1812, the Americans proved to European nations that America was it’s own striving nation, and able to sustain foreign attack. Besides the two large nations, the only losers were the Native Americans residing east of the Mississipi River such as the Shawnee, Potawatomi, and Ojibwa Tribes. In the pivotal years of America’s development, all that the Americans wanted was to expand west, this led to Native American repulsion towards the white settlers.
The War of 1812 was an armed conflict between the United States and the British Empire. In an attempt to cut off supplies from reaching the enemy, both sides attempted to block the United States from trading with the other. Significantly, the British restricted the American trade since the British feared that it was detrimental with their war with France. Importantly, the British wanted to set up an Indian state in the Midwest, which is why thousands of Native Americans fought on the side of the British. The Americans condemned the British Empire restricting their trade and taking sailors to serve on the British side.
The war of 1812 proved struggles and hardships for America. The question of why the war was even fought is astonishing still today since Britain did not want to fight the war and agreed to stop interfering with American shipping. However, America decided to precede on with the war. The war did bring on patriotism to Americans.

This made sure the British had to find a new way to get control of the U.S. The U.S. was also able to win because they held out against the British during the Battle of Baltimore, and in doing so, inspired Francis Scott Key to publish the Star-Spangled Banner. The final battle to secure independence was when the U.S. beat the British at the Battle of Plattsburg at Lake Champlain (History.com). The U.S and Britain held peace negotiations in Belgium and officially ended the war on December 24, 1814 by signing the Treaty of
War of 1812 Consequences On June 18, 1812 America declared war upon Great Britain as a result of Britain’s impressment of a large quantity of American soldiers and British involvement in American trade and commerce. Congress had never previously made any declarations of war, this was their very first (Tindall 325). Britain had no desire to go to war with America since they were actively attempting to defeat Napoleon in Europe. America’s original goal when declaring war with Britain was to regain more territory, but also recoup their honor and prestige in the process (Thill).
Consequently, they have been waging war against one another for quite a while already, and this further led to the War of 1812. The War of 1812 is a relatively little-known war involved in the history of America. “The War of 1812 brought the United States onto the world's stage in a conflict that ranged throughout the American Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast, into Canada, and onto the high seas and Great Lakes. The War of 1812 I believe that the war of 1812 was a non-sense war regardless of their differences that they had to begin with. The British won by large, for the simple reason the United States were not prepared to fight with a more powerful Britain. To fight Britain was not only unnecessary; it was also a fight that the United States was going to lose. The British had a much larger concern in their hands. In France, Napoleon was one of the greatest generals and warriors ever.
One of the main causes of the War of 1812 was the violations of shipping rights by the British. British fleets started harassing American ships and taking British American citizen’s prisoners to fill their own naval vessels. In an attempt to help rectify restrictions of the embargo that had been originally set by Thomas Jefferson when he was president between Britain and France; President Madison spoke with Napoleon and he said that he would remove his decrees if the British did as well. The British refused and President Madison was left without a choice and asked Congress to declare war on Britain. During this time Britain was also encouraging the Native American Indians to cause conflicts with American settlers.
The War of 1812 was a significant conflict that took place between the United States and Great Britain. The war, which lasted from 1812 to 1815, was triggered by a range of factors, including economic pressures, territorial expansion, and maritime trade disputes. The conflict was also fueled by the ongoing tensions between the United States and Britain, which had been smoldering since the American Revolution decades earlier. One of the key drivers of the War of 1812 was the trade disputes between the United States and Great Britain.
Fugitive Slave Act of 1793- it allowed masters or agents to pursue slaves over state lines and take them into legal custody, before a court. However, this did not stop the will of the slaves to escape, but made it a risky choice for them to take. This act allowed many people to be on the watch for slaves. Even those in the North would tell on an escaped slave.
