Sharp Teeth by Toby Barlow revolves around a dog pound near Pasadena, LA, where a dogcatcher named Anthony works. The dogcatchers he works with are often older people who have no interest in helping the dogs, rather do the job for the money. Some would even sell the most rabid, furious dogs to dog fighters in LA and Mexico. He despises his co-workers, but when the local police department begins to find several of them dead around their homes, he begins to worry. What’s even stranger is that many of them appear to have died after being attacked by some sort of animal. Lark is busy putting together a new pack once more while undercover as a house dog, when he discovers that the she-wolf is still alive and well. She had been hunting down members of Baron’s pack, landing her on their “wanted” list, and when she was first attacked by them, she killed the attackers, and burned down Anthony’s house to conceal it. Anthony, devastated, is approached by Peabody. Peabody had been getting hints from a man called Mr. Venable, who appeared to have knowledge about the werewolves. He had been led to a man called Ruiz, who was living with two youngsters: Annie and Palo. It is revealed that these two are the leaders of a third pack, which Annie brings the desperate Anthony into. She transforms him into a werewolf. She transformed into a woman, and was rescued by some factory workers. She was later introduced to the boss: Tomas, the sibling of Mr. Venable’s lover, who had stolen money from the drug factory profits. Annie killed Tomas and stole his wallet with the stolen profits, then freed what members of her pack were left. Mr. Venable wanted to know about the dogs because he knew that they had stolen the profits. Mr. Venable had arranged for protection by Baron’s pack, and struck a deal with Annie to recover the money that had been stolen. Lark’s pack had been tracking Baron’s pack, ready to launch an attack. What followed was a clash between packs, with Venable caught in the middle, and Peabody investigating close behind. Baron’s pack is left with only a few dogs living. Mr. Venable’s lover is killed, while Palo’s pack is completely extinguished, save for Anthony, and Annie, who had stayed behind. Only Lark and the she-wolf are left from Lark’s
