Margaret Sanger was born on September 14, 1879 in Corning, New York. Her name was Margaret Higgins. Sanger is the sixth of 11 surviving children born into a Roman Catholic Irish American family. During this time period, women were expected to have as many children as possible. Her parents, Michael and Anne Higgins, lived in poverty.

Good afternoon teacher and fellow classmates. I have selected the topic of Cathy Freeman and today I will show you how she has contributed vastly to Australian society since 1945. Forty-three years ago the remarkable Cathy Freeman ran her way into Australia’s heart as she earned Australia’s 100th Olympic gold medal and no athlete would wear the medal more appropriately. Catherine Astrid Salome Freeman is a former Australian sprinter specialising in the 4oo metre event. Patricia Krenwinkel had an important role in the Manson trials because she stabbed Abigail Folger countless of times and then later on she stabbed Rosemary LaBianca with a carving fork to death. In the novel Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell it describes the main characters fondness for history. Although the main character, Sarah, loves history in general, she mainly has a passion for well known historical assassinations. She is on a trip looking at famous landmarks,. Margaret Sanger Margaret Sanger, a feminist social reformer, argued that “women cannot be on equal footing with men until they have complete control over their reproductive functions”. Her argument improved our everyday life by providing more information on contraceptives, giving women the power to control their bodies, and changing the role of women and men. Margaret Sanger was determined and dedicated to provide women with information about contraceptives which eventually improved the lives of many women. During the Progressive Era, women had gained a lot more interest in becoming independent by working and improving their education.

Entertainment flourished throughout the 1930s because of magnificent films and impressive, renowned actors and actresses. One of these actresses who had an impact on entertainment was Vivien Leigh. She lived her whole life pursuing her dream of performing and acting. During the 1930s, this small ,British actress thrived , starring in various movies; her most memorable role was Scarlett O’Hara in “Gone With the Wind.” Although Scarlett O’Hara was her most popular character portrayal, she starred in several films in different roles.

In Barbara Lazear Ascher’s essay titled “On Compassion” Ascher considers the concept of compassion by utilizing her own encounters with the homeless as a vehicle to make her argument. In her argument, she interprets compassion as an abstract concept, and portrays empathy as a building block to compassion; making the argument that to be a more tolerant society one must first learn empathy in order to demonstrate true compassion. Sadie Robertson is graduating from reality TV to feature films. The star of “Dancing With the Stars” and “Duck Dynasty” now is working on a major part in a film reflecting on the Columbine school massacre. The movie focuses on the faith of one teen, Rachel Joy Scott, as she was the first student killed during the 1999 massacre. According to CNS News on Tuesday, in the movie “I’m Not Ashamed,” Sadie Robertson will be playing a relative of the teen and the person who allegedly was responsible for teen 's conversion to Christianity.

‘Annabel Lee’ by Edgar Allan Poe is an eminently beautiful yet tragic poem centred around the theme of a forbidden love between two people, and the many obstacles that they overcome in order to be together. At the same time the poem relates back to a man’s undying love for his wife in which even death is unable to hinder. From the beginning of the poem, I realized Poe to be an articulate person who has a beautiful way with words, as he describes the origin of his love story between himself and Annabel Lee. Dorothy Draper, the first to “professionalize” the interior design industry by establishing the first interior design company in the United States. Elsie de Wolfe was an American decorator born in New York City. Besides being an interior decorator she was also a professional actress that performed various light comic and historical roles throughout the 1890s.

Nadine Gordimer, the Nobel laureate is a white South African prolific writer. Gordimer believes in the humanistic aspect of people and is the spokesperson of her people. She won her Nobel Prize in the year 1991. Her life brings about the racism and of the downtrodden conditions of the people. Gordimerworks bring out the society needs and the societal problems in different dimensions.
