My reading partner’s name and age are Sandra Itzel Hurtado and she is eight years old; she is my girlfriend’s little sister. Sandra and I found our reading content easily, I had a lot of books my little cousins had. She ended picking a somewhat of a mystery book written by Linda Joy Singleton, titled The Curious Cat Spy Club. The cover looked cool so we started reading and she became very attracted to the story. Unfortunately, towards our second session she began to get distracted during our reading. So I decided to take her to a Barnes & Nobble to look at some books, and we choose to read Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life (Dork Diaries Series #1), written by Rachel Renee Russell. Sandra and I started our reading sessions at her house every …show more content…
She was very shy towards me most of the time we were together, but as we started reading together I found out she is very adventurous and curious of the world that surrounds her. She began to open up to me, something I looked forward to for a while. I ended up buying her the second series to the book we read and from what she tells me when I’m over she is still reading it and enjoys it.
I learned a lot about myself during this project. I learned that I love reading also that I’m not too bad of a reader. I used to be terrified of reading out loud in front of people afraid of being judged on my reading skills and reading fluency. However, now I have more confidence of reading out loud and being able to become interested in a book rather than being on social media. Not only becoming interested in a book but actually finishing a book that should be on my reading level.
The best thing I experienced throughout this project was probably building a positive relationship with my reading partner, and actually motivating a child to read more and discovering new information and expanding their imagination. Also becoming more interested into reading out loud myself and working on my confidence towards
She became a best friend to me. Having the book in her perspective was interesting. Her thoughts and feelings often sounded like things I would think, or even say at times.

This book will make kids feel sad, happy, and excited for the main character Paco. The things Paco goes through in this book are things similar to the things kids that get adopted or put into foster care goes through. The lesson in this book is that no matter how happy you think you are, having a group of people who support you will always make you happier. This is important because some second graders who were adopted go through some tough times and think that they only need themselves. This book is for second graders, these students appreciate having a family who loves them.
When women commit a shocking crime or murder, they are most likely to kill the people who are closest to them. To illustrate, Karla Faye Tucker, convicted of murder in Texas in 1984 and was put to death fourteen years later. She was the first woman to be executed in the United States since 1984, and the first in Texas since 1863 when Chipita Rodriguez was hanged for killing a horse trader. The Dallas Morning News asserts that “Tucker, 38, was convicted of using a 3-foot-long pickax to hack Jerry Dean to death during a burglary at his Houston apartment in 1983. Also killed was an overnight guest, Deborah Thornton” (Hoppe).
At that time, I did not particularly like reading because my parents always forced me to read over the summer. Like most children, I would have rather liked to have been playing outside. But as the months and years progressed at Notre Dame de Sion, Emma and I shaped a beautiful friendship around literature. At the start
Dolores Huerta was born in the early 30’s to her compassionate mother, Alicia, who helped low-wage workers by accommodating them at her hotel for free. Alicia, a role model to her daughter, inspired Dolores to help others as well. Despite excelling in school and extracurricular activities, Dolores faced racism in her Californian school, and was once even accused of plagiarism by a teacher who believed Dolores was incapable because she was Hispanic. As stated by the writers of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, she began a career as a teacher which was soon cut short because she could not bear seeing children in terrible economic conditions on a daily basis. Angered, she began a life of activism. ("Dolores Huerta.")
“I know that I am a destroyer of the most precious thing, which is life”. This quote was from Patricia Krenwinkel. Patricia Krenwinkel had an important role in the Manson trials because she stabbed Abigail Folger countless of times and then later on she stabbed Rosemary LaBianca with a carving fork to death. She was found guilty of murder and they gave her the death sentenced, but the judge overruled it so she got life in prison. It has been 46 years since the murder of the Manson family.
Books opened my eyes to enthralling revelations at a young age. They gave me solace in my times of worry and melancholy. Especially where the lost protagonist overcame her obstacles and fought her fears. I could always relate to such struggles. I understood what it meant to feel diminutive and powerless.
Incorporating small reading allows all students participate and interact in reading out loud. The challenge of having different book assigned can have many benefits for students development, because they are able to move within reading levels as they advance their

When my sister became too old to listen bedtime stories, she would read to me instead. Even though we watched our fair share of television, we were expected to spend just as much time, if not more, with reading. That wasn’t difficult, especially considering that we grew up while the Harry Potter books were starting to take the world by storm. Our mom supported our Potter mania and read the books alongside us, saying that the Harry Potter books shared a similar style to Charles Dickens, her favorite author- and now one of mine.
