The organization aims to ‘balance the playing field’ between current conditions (rising homeless populations’) and desired conditions (everyone can be a functioning, productive member of society). By achieving this goal the nonprofit validates the ‘need’ for its organizations existence. The Salvation Army US (2018) describes the purpose/goals of their organization as follows:
“We work with councils and local providers to cater to the immediate needs of people affected by homelessness, signposting other services they can access. We act as a bridge between vulnerable adults and the help they need by taking time to listen (The Salvation Army, 2018, paragraph 1).”
This ‘needs assessment’ can be used to provide improvement strategies based on the organizations employees, education/training opportunities, and need to build stronger ties within communities (Day, Fleenor, Atwater, Sturm & McKee, 2014). This assessment will be used in order to identify, define and improve leadership development within the non-profit organization: The Salvation Army of Kansas and Western Missouri
The only compliance we have is to the Will of God, mission and commission that Christ has put us under. We have been commissioned to go tell it”-Pastor Jimmy J. Wilson 1. What should our church be known for in this community? 2. What services do your church offer?
The YMCA’s methods of capturing and preserving the interests of its target audience remains almost exclusive to its overall brand. Although the organization’s prosperity is greatly due to strategic planning and the overall uniqueness of the establishment, the YMCA must still consider the challenge of neighboring businesses willing to compete. Two of the YMCA’s biggest competitors may include Fitology and Planet Fitness. Generally, each business exhibits its own unique standards of services, equipment and resources, and overall culture that are explicitly specialized to its objective.

creating stronger relationships within the local community could increase support for the Michigan location. While the mission of the Covenant House is comprehensive, its vision highlights the compassion, and empathy that staff and volunteers should acquire. The first principle is immediacy, since the Covenant House seeks to come to the aid of a youth in dire need rapidly providing their basic human needs without question. Though progress toward decreasing youth homelessness in Michigan is in sync with the mission, vision, and values, often times there are other aspects that compromise the organization’s mission, vision, and goals.
SHOW CONNECTION Jon Kurht’s article “When helping doesn't help” is a personal narrative discussing Kurht’s experience managing a homeless shelter, and discussing the hardships and complications that come with helping the homeless. Kuhrt notably states that shelters “actually bred further cynicism and depression in those young people because many were ashamed of what they were doing - they knew they were profiting from the naivety and kindness of others.” Logos can be found within the reasoning and conclusions found by Kurht. There are three marketing strategies the Salvation Army uses that are advertising, fundraising and promotions. Firstly, the Salvation Army uses advertising strategies to get noticed by the right people at the right time and it uses these strategies to present their products or services more easily and clearly. Also, it helps the company to deliver their story to current customers through appropriate media. The Salvation Army usually uses vivid and impressive advertising to awaken the public’s sympathy and desire to help people who are suffering from poverty and homeless.
Help change the world! Volunteering in your community can help out others in myriad of ways. This will create happiness in other lives. A nonprofit organization that can greatly improve the quality of one’s life is the second harvest food bank in central Florida. With the increased use of housing-based assistance programs being created, there is a positive outlook for homeless looking for assistance getting back on their feet by acquiring affordable housing. The ability to apply and gain benefits through state and federal programs is helping to provide food and some financial assistance to the homeless population as well as a community outreach programs being deployed in cities all over the country. New opportunities for employment and training are available for those who are homeless and looking to get back into the workforce and get off the street. The road ahead for the homeless population is, of course, paved with struggles and detours, but with the continued efforts of our country, states and communities we can work together to aid in the reduction of homelessness with the continued efforts in creating and maintaining affordable housing programs, assistance programs, and workforce development
Social workers are the number one professionals who attend to this population, by providing them with resources like temporary housing, educating about health issues that can occur and leading them in the right direction so that they can one day escape the world of homelessness. Equality is deserved to all human beings that walk this earth and the stigma homeless people receive and the lack of attention they receive including all variations of assistance is not acceptable and it is important to stress that all lives matter even the lives of those who no longer have faith that they even live a life. It is important to spread awareness and to continue to research the issues women face
Lastly, leadership can pose another challenge for non-profit organizations. Non-profit organizations feel that they might have a lack of resources and opportunities to develop their leadership skills. Leadership is very important aspect for the effectiveness of a non-profit organization, without it, many people may suffer who rely on the organization, directly and indirectly on the services and social value non-profit organizations provide. A budget and specific needs may also be a huge challenge for a non-profit organization in terms of finding the correct customer relationship management
In the nineteenth-century, the U.S. became increasingly urban and populations more concentrated creating more destructive events. These events marked the first American Red Cross (ARC) response, which resulted in the federal government creating a formal charter to provide disaster response and recovery (Rubin, 2012). Founded in 1881, by Clara Barton, the ARC plays a unique role in disaster management. The ARC is not the federal government, it is independent, nonprofit, tax-exempt, charitable, and unlike any other congressionally chartered organization, it has the legal status of “a federal instrumentality”, which means it is bound by the charter to carry out responsibilities that have been delegated down by the federal government (Rubin, 2012). These responsibilities currently include providing support and communication for U.S. military and their families, fulfilling the provisions of the Geneva Convention, in which the U.S. is a signatory that is assigned to national societies for the protection of victims of conflict, and lastly, maintaining a system of international and domestic disaster relief, which mandated responsibilities are defined in the National Response Plan (NRP)
Homeless shelters allow for people to have a safe environment to live in and temporarily gets them off the streets. Also, shelters give homeless people the opportunity to get back on their feet and work towards getting a job and ultimately a permanent home. Although some may argue that homeless shelters are expensive and do not change or prevent behavior that leads to living on the streets, we still need to step forward and help these poor people sleeping out in those cold winter nights. Critical principles in leading organizational development as an administrator in a local church context Introduction There are a number of core principles that can guarantee successful operations in leading organizations. While the principles have been applied for a long time within the context of profit-making organizations, it is crucial to mention that successful administration of a local church also requires the same principles. The church is a non-profit making organization. However, the key administrative skills required to run a local church are similar to the principles of organizational development discussed in this essay.
In these experiences, the missions of social workers in disaster service were concluded (Chou, 2003; Lin,
