In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare the author shows the theme that without moderation there are negative consequences through three situations. The three situations that convey the theme are the first brawl, the second brawl, and Romeo threatening suicide.
William Shakespeare shows the theme that without moderation there are negative consequences in the first brawl. The first brawl takes place in Verona square between the servants of both houses, as a dispute turned into a quarrel. When the Capulet servant talks about “biting his thumb” this conveys the theme as the servants started taking things to far when it came to the insults which ended up in the brawl. Showing that without moderation there are negative consequences. If the servants

In Friar Laurence’s cell Romeo and the friar discuss their next steps after Romeo just finished slaying Tybalt and will be be banished from the walls of Verona. Romeo displays the theme through his cries, threatening suicide as he will never see his beloved Juliet. This scene correlates to the theme as Romeo is the reason he is being banished. And how if Romeo headed the Prince’s warning he would not have been in the situation. Without moderation negative consequences will happen as shown ever so prominently with two men dead and one banished. Romeo crying about suicide is ironic how if Romeo thought about his actions and the repercussions he wouldn’t have had to say goodbye to Juliet and be in the situation where he contemplates suicide. If Romeo had thought about the consequences that were to come with his actions he could have easily avoided a situation where he is tempted to end his own life. In addition, Romeo saying that he would rather die then not be with Juliet in the cell is an example of how without moderation there is negative consequences as Romeo will never see the women that he had waited his entire life for and the woman who truly is the one. The situation shows the theme as Romeo is in the situation where because of his rash actions, he will be banished from his home city, he will never see his family again, he will be seen as a murderer by everyone who cares for
His reckless behavior causes much of the turmoil. He even made a successful suicidal attempt, and unknowingly inspired Juliet to ensure the same afterward. His brashness, impatience, and his disregard to logical thinking are a recipe for disaster, despite his undying love for Juliet, the daughter of his family’s enemies. Romeo secretly finds a way that not only allows the beginning of a wonderful relationship, nonetheless also a short lived one with the scent of death
The tragic death of Romeo and Juliet ends the story of William Shakespeare’s 1597 play Romeo and Juliet. But one question that is the most debatable is, who shall be blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet? Many believe that Friar Lawrence should pay the cost of the loving couples death. But this essay disagrees Friars involvement in the death of the two and supports why he shouldn’t receive a punishment. Friar married them together, so the family feud would come to a conclusion, Friar was attached to the relationship between the two and couldn’t find an escape and, the tragedy was caused by Romeo’s mistake.
The underlying theme of the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare was the clash between the company pursuing their personal desires or deciding to conform to what is socially expected. The circumstances of this affray were on display when Romeo presented his plot of marrying Juliet to Friar Laurence. The consequences of Romeo deciding to pursue personal desire were also on display when displayed his disapproval to his punishment for extirpating Tybalt. These instances culminate Shakespeare's idea of that the pursuit of personal desire not always rewarding the aspirant. The asininity of carelessly pursuing your personal desires and not thinking about the ramifications was on display when Romeo presented his notion of espousing Juliet.
Due to Friar Lawrence’s poor decisions throughout the play, he indirectly strengthened the feud of the Capulets and the Montagues which led to the deaths of Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Tybalt, and Paris. Friar Lawrence’s punishment will be community service. He needs to dedicate his time to help settle conflicts between families by encouraging open discussions and working with each family member to achieve their goals. In addition, he will have to work with Prince Escalus to prevent any future problems in Verona so that the same mistakes are not
I think that Romeo was just mad and wanted revenge and did not have the time to think. Romeo is worried about his relationship with Juliet and how it will end between them, but if Romeo was not an impatient character he would not have to worry about that because he would have known better not to have killed
In the play Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare tells the tragic tale of the deaths of Romeo, a Montague, and Juliet, a Capulet. Various characters interact with Romeo and Juliet throughout the play in ways that result in their suicides. One such character, Friar Laurence, consistently encourages the irrational actions of these primary characters throughout the novel. The actions he insists that Romeo and Juliet carry out often prove to result in negative consequences. His involvement in their lives influences their actions the most, ultimately resulting in Romeo and Juliet’s deaths.
This is not a story one would normally call ironic but towards the end more and more irony come to light. When Juliets is in her drugged state and appears to be dead (but a simple examination would have proved otherwise) Romeo kills himself. Juliet eventually wakes up and finds her dead husband beside her and commits suicide out of sorrow. So they both got what they wanted in the end, an eternity together but not in the way they had hoped. Also the readers of the play know that Juliet isn't really dead when Romeo discovers her so when he stabs himself it affects the audience much
In the Elizabethan tragedy “Romeo and Juliet” written by William Shakespeare, the characters that are known to be adored, can even be the cause of adversities throughout the beautiful play. Many characters could be accountable for the death of Romeo and Juliet. It might be the Nurse, who had very poor judgement, stringing Juliet along in a relationship that wouldn’t last. Would it be Tybalt, the violent cousin, who resented Romeo? Unexpectedly, the person who is to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet is the carefree Romeo.
The friar just mumbles on about his philosophy and no one, NO ONE, understands my sorrow. BODY Wretched Tybalt and his impassive nature. For if thou had simply sat content and not struck Mercutio down I would not of avenged his death, not been banished and not been separated from my dearest Juliet. Nothing can replace this horrible, twisting feeling. Verona is my home, my family, beyond those solid walls lies nothing to me.
Romeo and Juliet have fate against each other. Its said hat their love is “death marked.” Romeo and Juliet can’t control what going to happen as they go alone with this. For starters they’re in different groups, so they don’t know how their groups is going to react. It is their misfortune that leads to a terrible at the end.
The Immaturity of Romeo and Juliet Immaturity can spread throughout things and people creating problems for the present and future. Similarly, Romeo and Juliet not only shows the development of love, but the loss of maturity that leads to tragedy. People develop maturity, but the amount of immaturity makes the process go backwards. From Romeo and Juliet’s fast evolving relationship to the hate between the two families, and the lack of thought in different characters is recurrent throughout the story. Therefore, the theme of Romeo and Juliet evolves around the idea of immaturity.
“The road to hell is paved with good intentions”- Samuel Johnson. This quote symbolizes that good intentions can have horrible consequences. There is an equal and opposite reaction to every decision made in Romeo and Juliet. The thesis statement that will be used is that no matter if the decision is good their is always a disastrous outcome that results. Life is never what it seems actions made by good people have a way of turning awful.
When Juliet and Romeo were faced with a conflict, they would act based upon their emotions rather than coming up with rational solutions that would benefit both parties. They were only thinking in the moment, and not of the future consequences. Unfortunately, their rash decisions led to tragic incidents and the deaths of friends, family, and themselves. The problematic impulsiveness from the main characters could be taken as a moral, that love can control one’s mind to behave recklessly, leading to troubling
This soliloquy was the climax of the story because once Romeo kills himself, there is no going back to the way things used to be. The meaning behind the passage is Romeo thinking that Juliet is having an affair with death because of how alive and well she looks even though she is “dead.” Therefore Romeo wants to do his now late cousin a favor and kill himself to basically avenge Tybalt’s death. Shakespeare uses dramatic irony in this passage to create the tone. All of the audience knows that Juliet is going to wake up and is most likely seconds away from waking up.
Romeo’s decision making skills amongst other flaws like impulsiveness and rashness, led him down a path that ended in his death. Juliet’s blind devotion to Romeo and haste in decision making left her feeling helpless and alone upon the realization that death was her only remaining viable option. The many minor characters in the play all helped push Romeo and Juliet’s already harmful decisions towards a place where they both ended up dead. Throughout the course of the play, it becomes very apparent that it’s not fate that causes the problems for Romeo and Juliet, but the disastrous decisions of everyone in the play combined, that create the plethora of problems that our two main characters have to deal
