The Reward for Disobedience The word of the Lord says in First Samuel 15:23, “For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has also rejected you from being king.” God has put others in authority over us, like our parents, so that things do not happen. Those who are in charge of us are put there for a reason, and therefore, we should obey them. In Shakespeare’s the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, the two young lovers die due to their disobedient and deceiving ways. Since Romeo, Juliet, and even Friar Lawrence did not obey the leaders that were put in charge of them, they ended up paying the price, each in different ways. Romeo is the son of Lord and Lady Montague, he started out depressed over a girl named Rosaline who was not going to give her heart to him due to her commitment to the church. Romeo was invited to a party at the Capulet house where he met Juliet and instantly fell in love. All of this and the speed at which he was moving caused his blatant disobedience and death in the play. Even though he was mostly obedient to his parents, he blatantly disobeyed the Prince of Verona, the laws of Verona and Mantua, and God by doing so. The families were …show more content…
Friar sinned as well, he lied to the parents of Romeo and Juliet and hid their marrige in the dark. Friar failed to get the message to Romeo in Mantua, that Juliet had taken a sleeping potion, and because of his own fear, he left Juliet alone to kill herself when she saw Romeo dead. Friar Lawrence is one of the most guilty subjects to blame for the lovers' deaths and by completing this all behind the parents' backs and in front of God, Friar Lawrence himself has sinned and has caused both Romeo and Juliet to sin with him. He led them down the wrong path and he was supposed to be the holy
the Friar gave Juliet a potion. The potion was going to put Juliet to sleep for 48 hours and it will look like she is dead, everyone will think she is dead but Friar Lawrence, he did not tell Romeo of his plan which was the biggest flaw in the plan. That is the biggest reason why Friar Lawrence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and
Eventually, Friar told Juliet he has a solution to prevent her from marrying Paris and reunite her and Romeo. Friar Lawrence also makes a somewhat persuasion to Juliet about the vial before she makes the decision. Another reason Friar Lawrence is to be blamed leading to the death of Romeo and Juliet is because Lawrence is the one who gave Juliet the potion to fake her death and send a letter to Romeo about their pluck the mangled Tybalt from his shroud / And, in this rage, with some great kinsmans bone / As with a club, dash out my desp’rate brains'' (Shakespeare 4.1-53-55)
Friar was only trying to bind the two families together and out of their feud, but honestly, he did not consider the risk factors. Friar Lawrence also gave Juliet the potion that did not kill her, but clearly played a key role in both the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. When she took the potion, she was out cold, no heartbeat or anything. Good potion, it worked and she woke up later. But Romeo actually thought Juliet was dead.
In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the question is, how is Friar Lawrence both guilty? Well, he's responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, meaning he's also responsible for the death of Lady Montague. He married Romeo and Juliet in private, he kept the marriage a secret even when Juliet was supposed to marry Paris, and he helped Juliet with the potion and made everyone think she was dead. Romeo died because he thought Juliet was dead, if Juliet didn't get the potion then Romeo, Juliet, and Lady Montague would not have died. If he would have not given Juliet the potion and instead convinced her to tell Lord Capulet that she's already married this wouldn't have gone so bad, they would be able to show their love for each other
In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is to blame for the death of Romeo Montague. Friar shows a lack of wisdom when it comes to giving advice to Romeo on his wish to marry Juliet. He knows that Romeo was previously in love with Rosaline and, within one day, he has fallen in love with another girl. Instead of telling Romeo he needs to take time to get to know Juliet, Friar agrees to marry them that day.
Friar Lawrence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet for a variety of reasons. Firstly, he agreed to marry them without their parents’ permission or knowledge. This was an important factor in the tragedy that followed since it led to Juliet being disowned by her father and banished from Verona. By marrying Romeo and Juliet behind their families’ backs, Friar Lawrence demonstrated a lack of concern for the consequences that this might have on both families which ultimately precipitated the couple’s death.
Friar Lawrence sent a letter to Romeo before their plan was played out, but he did not send it on time. This causes Romeo to think Juliet is dead. All these events lead to Romeo killing himself and Juliet’s death following, making this Friar’s fault. Friar Lawrence is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s downfall because he helped Juliet fake her death and did not send a letter to Romeo on time.
In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, the two star-crossed lovers terribly meet death at the end of the story. Although their horrible death was by their own hands, it wasn’t really them to blame. Their deaths were caused by a combination of factors and they were misled by untrustworthy and uncaring adults. Although we could blame almost any character involved in the story, the one with the most blood on his hands is Friar Lawrence. Not only does he propose ideas to Juliet knowing they could get her killed, he leaves Juliet alone with Romeo's dead body knowing what she might do to herself.
In the play Romeo and Juliet, both Romeo and Juliet die. It would be easy to point blame as to why this happened at many of the characters in the play but Friar Lawrence is the biggest culprit. Although you could say that if their parents had allowed them to marry they never would have been in the situation, but it was Friars mistake that caused them both to die. Friar is the culprit because he provided the potion that would "kill" Juliet for 48 hours, and was expected and trusted to give word to Romeo that she was still alive and would wake up in two days. But, he failed to pass on that information, and instead Romeo told that Juliet was dead.
Friar Lawrence was the one to blame throughout the entire story. Although Friar Lawrence was just trying to help throughout the whole story, he was just causing problems that led to Romeo and Juliets death. The one problem was just miscommunication between Friar Lawrence, Friar John, and Romeo. “Who bar my letter, then, to Romeo?”(S.S, pg. 470).
In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he married Romeo and Juliet in the hopes that it would end the feud between their two families, and he gave Juliet a sleeping potion and wrote a letter to be delivered by Friar John to Romeo. To begin with, Friar Lawrence can be blamed because he married Romeo and Juliet in the hopes that it would end the feud between their two families. Friar Lawrence is speaking in the room in his cell when someone has the idea to marry Juliet and eventually friar Lawrence agrees and says to Romeo, "But come, young waverer, come, go with me / In one respect I'll thy assistant be, / For this alliance may so happy prove / To turn your households' rancor

Lastly, the Friar gives a vial to Juliet to pretend that she is dead. Although many could be at fault, Friar Lawrence stands out by his emotional vulnerability towards Romeo and Juliet, and his selfish decisions. Friar Lawrence is clearly at fault because he agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet who are rushing into their relationship which leads to the downfall of the tragedy. First, he deliberately does not inform the Capulets and the Montagues, which leads to the devastating reveal of the matrimony preceding their children’s death. Friar Lawrence’s vulnerability towards Romeo and Juliet shows as they are isolated from their families and Friar
