Young love fills the air in a hot gymnasium as children dance and sweat enjoying and loving their night. Flashing lights and blaring music deafen people to the noise of a crying girl, Kristin. Her “lover”, Austin, left her alone at the dance to go have a good time with Natasha. They had planned a fun night for themselves and she was really looking forward to her night with him, however, he ditched her like it was nothing and she was beyond hurt. This exact same scenario occurs in high schools across the nation leaving many girls broken in what started as a dream come true, but ended with a broken heart and a sink full of makeup and tears. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, the character Romeo demonstrates the broken girl, he is found crying and …show more content…
It isn’t custom for a couple to marry a day after they meet each other due to the fact that they do not even know each other. Romeo begins talking to Juliet about marriage in the porch scene and Juliet has some logical thoughts about how they just met and can’t truly be in love already, however Romeo is beyond eager to marry Juliet. He continues talking with her pleading her to cave in to the idea of wedlock, which she eventually does, certifying that the marriage would take place the next morning. Friar Lawrence is the man who must marry the two lovers the next day, however following through with the act would bring much shame upon the Friar’s name due to the rivalry between the families of the two lovers. “Hence will I to my ghostly father’s cell, His help to crave, and my dear hap to tell.” (II. ii. 326) Romeo says here that he will return to the friar and inform him of what is going to occur the next day. Upon telling the Friar this he also questions the speed with which their relationship is moving. The friar presses further by asking what changed so quickly in order for him to get over his past lover Rosaline to which Romeo acts as if the relationship between him and Rosaline had never …show more content…
He goes from being deeply in love with Rosaline, then takes a sharp turn and becomes deeply depressed when she leaves him. Then after being depressed for days on end he suddenly takes a turn for the better and falls head over heels for Juliet. The fast changing emotions that Romeo expresses point to the fact that his love towards Juliet is unjustified, no one in the right mind would ever pledge to marry someone just a day after meeting them. Nor would anyone be able to snap out of a trance of depression that has you unable to go about your typical life in a matter of days. The fast paced changes of emotion from Romeo suggest that his deep love for the woman he just met is unjustified or
Friar Lawrence agrees to marry them, and says, “For this alliance may so happy prove,/To turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (Doc. C). Friar Lawrence married Romeo and Juliet without knowing that Juliet was engaged. Since Juliet was already engaged to CounPariss she did not want to tell the Friar because she knew he would say no. The Friar says “And, if thou darest, I’ll give thee remedy” ( Doc. C)
At the end of the play, both Romeo and Juliet are dead. Their death are the result of many different events and decisions. The prohibited wedding of Romeo and Juliet couldn’t have happened without Friar Laurence. First of all , Friar stupidly agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet, even though he knew it will cause later problems. In the beginning, Friar shows that he has tiny ambition of their marriage to perhaps work even the tiniest bit.
The play, Romeo and Juliet, is about two star-crossed lovers that had been led to their death because of various actions of different characters. The actions that caused the death of these lovers were foolish. The characters that greatly impacted the death of Romeo and Juliet are the two households, Montague and Capulet, Friar Laurence and the two lovers themselves, Romeo and Juliet. Whether deliberately or unintentionally, their actions have all lead to the tragic death.
The narrative voices in songs and literature, occasionally show male characters expressing their emotions enthusiastically towards a female character. Sir Paul McCartney wrote a song titled "Michelle" about a boy trying to profess his love the best way he can to a girl who only speaks french. Lines 44-53 of Romeo and Juliet is an excerpt of a play written by William Shakespeare. In Act 1, Scene 5, Romeo is trying to describe the love he feels for Juliet after seeing her for the first time. In both pieces, it is shown that men should know what love feels like as soon as they think they have fallen in love, even if they can’t describe their emotions properly and feel like they should verbally explain it to those around them.
During the second scene of Act II, Romeo and Juliet decide to get married after having met hours before at the Capulet party. In the scene that follows, Romeo asks Friar Lawrence, “But this I pray, that thou consent to marry us today” (Shakespeare 410). Here, Romeo is requesting that Friar Lawrence marry him and Juliet that same day, the morning after they met.
It is one of the first things you see in Romeo: "But this I pray, / That thou consent to marry us to-day" (Act 2 Scene 3). In that quote, it can be seen in Romeo's decision to marry so suddenly, particularly when he begs Friar Laurence to marry he and Juliet that day. Based on this, the reader can infer that Romeo is impulsive and there was no real reason to want to be married so suddenly. When Romeo finds his friends Benvolio and Mercutio engaged in a heated exchange with Tybalt, he rushes to stop the aggression between Mercutio and Tybalt. Unfortunately, Mercutio is stabbed because Romeo impulsively steps in the way, preventing Mercutio's sword from defending him.
This is a reason because Romeo just got over Rosaline, when he sees Juliet he is somewhat using her as a rebound. “Out of her favor, where I am in love.” (act 1 scene 1 line 163) In this scene, Romeo is going on and on about how he loves Rosaline but she doesn’t love him back. Later on, he sees Juliet at the Capulet party and falls ‘in love’ with her.
If Rosaline would have done the littlest by just talking to him Romeo would have been happy and not moved on. Romeo was also more open to love trying to get over Rosaline so this made him more open to fall in
One of the major downsides of a bad relationship is depression. Studies have suggested that “falling in love makes adolescents more depressed”, which would be perfectly applicable to Romeo and Juliet’s relationship (Study: Teen Love Hurts p.1). When Romeo was banished, Juliet became very depressed and hid away in her room. Another component of an unhealthy relationship is a pressure to be perfect that primarily affects girls in relationships.
The Immaturity of Romeo and Juliet Immaturity can spread throughout things and people creating problems for the present and future. Similarly, Romeo and Juliet not only shows the development of love, but the loss of maturity that leads to tragedy. People develop maturity, but the amount of immaturity makes the process go backwards. From Romeo and Juliet’s fast evolving relationship to the hate between the two families, and the lack of thought in different characters is recurrent throughout the story. Therefore, the theme of Romeo and Juliet evolves around the idea of immaturity.
Love in the 1300s is like a protective boyfriend, except that boyfriend is Lord Capulet and the girlfriend in the relationship is his daughter Juliet. She has a love life influenced by her father until she deeply expresses her love for Romeo in the play Romeo and Juliet. In the play, there are certain standards that Juliet and other women live by. This includes loyalty to their parent’s decisions and serving men. Today, these standards are outrageous because of our new society that recognizes women as equal to men.
He should not have agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet so quickly. Romeo wanted to marry Juliet after knowing her for less than twenty-four hours, which reveals his reckless personality. However, he marries them in hope that it will end the continuous feuding between the two families. When Romeo asks Friar Laurence to marry him with Juliet the Friar doesn't think that his love is true.
In many high schools, 9th graders read stories from different times and of different genres in their english classes. Notably, one of the most prominent stories read by high schoolers is The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. However, there is controversy that high schoolers should not read this Shakespearean play because many argue that it is not relevant to what teens deal with on a daily basis. Despite the fact that the tragedy takes place in the 14th century, teens were no different back then. As a matter of fact, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet presents topics that present-day teens still struggle with such as brain development, tunnel vision, and how to correctly approach suicidal teens.
At the beginning of this popular Shakespeare play, Romeo claims to be in love with a girl named Rosaline. He cries for days about her before he meets Juliet because she rejected his love for her. When Romeo first appears in the play, he appears to be too distracted with his heartache from Rosaline’s disenchantment of Romeo’s affection. His dwelling over his “love [for Rosaline], feel no love...
On May 25th, 1591, Romeo Montague killed Tybalt Capulet in a bloody sword fight in the town square. Tybalt is the nephew of Lord and Lady Capulet and the cousin of Juliet Capulet. Tybalt had returned to the public place around 3:30 that afternoon. Romeo was angry with Tybalt for killing Mercutio after Mercutio had tried to defend Romeo. Romeo goaded Tybalt saying, “Alive in triumph - and Mercutio slain!
