As members of society we are all should be cautious and accountable for our actions. There are rules, regulations, and consequences that go along with every task taken. All of those are in place for a reason, rather to just keep us in order, make us aware, or serve as a warning. For example, individuals and organizations that distribute products know of the obligations that follow. In the beginning, Roger Miller discussed something called strict product liability. He defines this as “liability for injury imposed for reasons other than fault.” Roger Miller also mentions that “people may be liable for the results of their acts regardless of their intentions or their exercise of reasonable care.” In the world today, there are cases brought to …show more content…
There are not many times when a person should evaluate themselves before faulting another person. As Roger Miller identified the first doctrine of strict product liability and public policy assumption as “consumers should be protected against unsafe products,” that is true. Protection should be given to everyone at some point in time. Psalm 121:7 New Living Translation (NLT) states, “The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.” At the same time, Luke 6:37 New Living Translation (NLT) advises, “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.” Everyone should be aware of their surroundings, inspect what they are purchasing, and trust that is it correct and in proper …show more content…
As Roger Miller stated those requirements are “the product must have been in a defective condition when the defendant sold it, the defendant must normally be engaged in the business of selling that product, the product must be unreasonably dangerous to the user or consumer because of its defective condition, the plaintiff must incur physical harm to self or property by use of consumption of the product, the defective condition must be the proximate cause of the injury or damage, and the goods must not have been substantially changes from the time the product was sold to the time the injury was sustained.” Laws are in place for everyone to follow. James 2:10 New Living Translation (NLT) suggests, “For the person who keeps all of the laws, except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.” There is no limitation on specific persons or even businesses when it comes to

The reasonable man-standard is used in law to determine negligence. “A jury generally decides whether a defendant has acted as a reasonable person would have acted. In making this decision, the jury generally considers the defendant’s conduct in light of what the defendant actually knows, has experienced, or has perceived” (“Standards”). In this case, the jury decided that the defendant knew about the problem but failed to act as a reasonable man, causing Hardy’s injury. GM did not intend to purposely cause Hardy harm but the company was held liable for neglecting the door latch recall.

A lot of people don’t care at all about laws, believing that these laws are getting in the way of their freedom and rights to live however they want, so they think that breaking rules is the right way to live. Frank Trippett in his passage “A Red Light for Scofflaws” states that the foundations of social order are going to be profoundly shaken if ordinary law-abiding citizens take to skirting the law, by first explaining that Americans are taking increasing liberties with all sorts of minor laws. He continues by stating that americans seem to think that law and order is for violent crimes only. The author’s purpose is to make people think about following the rules and orders, and to stop people from being scofflaws. The author establishes an
Survival doesn’t always come easy, most of the time you will have to make decisions that will make others judge you, whether you like it or not. For example, if someone left their friend to save themselves, should these people be held accountable for their actions? People shouldn’t be held accountable for those actions because when it comes to life or death that’s so much pressure to that person so of course they’re going to make mistakes and everyone makes mistakes we just have to learn from them. However, people will argue that if they put themselves in that situation they should be held accountable for their action In a story titled The Seventh Man, The story is about a boy and his friend who go to the beach after a storm and they end up in a life or death situation. When they were on the beach out of nowhere a huge wave starts to come towards them, which can kill them both, the Seventh man makes a decision “i told myself to to run over to K….
“Judge Not…” is a famous sentence that is found In Luke 6 and Matthew 7, which is widely used by Christians and non-Christians. People in the world often use; “judge not...!’ to silence whoever is preaching a gospel of repentance, and the misinterpretation makes people believe that they have a point. We are not going to interpret the context of judging, we are simply going to read the Bible and help you to understand what it really means. Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
All through history, notable figures have endeavored to characterize or order moral conduct. Similarly, in life, we endeavor to gauge ourselves against what is good and bad. To makes these judgments, we use our experience, elements of our faith in the divine, what we take in from notable public voices, what we have learned from society, from mentors, and from our parents. Since, no has ultimately circumscribed what genuinely moral and what isn't, we each have to make the best choices available.
Assignment #2 Question 1: What is the purpose of tort law? What types of damages are available in tort lawsuits? Primarily, the purpose of tort law is to provide relief to injured parties for harms and/or damages caused by the person being sued for tort as well as to impose liability on parties responsible for the harm, which is ultimately aimed to deter others from committing harmful acts, whether intentional or unintentional. In tort law, damages extend not only to physical injury sustained and/or personal safety, but also to another person’s property, dignity, and reputation (emotional pain and suffering) that is recognized by statute or common law (protected interest) as a legitimate basis for liability.

Ethics Personal Statement – FA16 BA 342 Patrick Quirk Introduction: Ethics is something that all people should hold as a core value. I firmly believe that ethical behavior is what drives the world forward. Knowing the difference between right and wrong can make all the difference in how a person lives and how others view them. I will be discussing my own personal views on ethics. I will explain my own ethical upbringing, and how I see ethics applied in society today.
Negligence: Negligence is conduct that falls below the standards of behaviour established by law for the protection of others against unreasonable risk of harm. (Gayle, 2015) The core idea of negligence is that people should exercise reasonable care when they act by taking account of the potential harm that they might forcible cause harm to other people. (Fein man, M. 2011) Negligence can be defined as a failure to take reasonable care or steps to prevent loss or injury to another person.
Introduction The key ethical issues that were presented in this case study were quality control, lack of customer care, responsiveness, and harming the customer. The Johnson and Johnson case may have been seen as a turning point due to many things the company did right. However, there were many ethical issues in this case which will be explored more throughout this paper.
