Natural Selection and Evolution of Rock Pocket Mouse Populations
Observations:
Most rock pocket mice have a sandy light-colored coat.
There have been populations of rock pocket mice that are found to have dark-colored coat.
These Sandy light-colored mice are found living in location where they blend in.
The dark-colored coat mice are found in areas with mostly dark rock so that they are able to blend in.
Questions:
What makes these Rock Pocket mice have a different colored coat?
Did the mice start out with a light colored coat or with a dark-colored coat?
How long did it take for the populations to evolve into different populations with different colored coats?
Did gene mutation cause a change in the coat color between populations of the Rock Pocket mouse?
Hypothesis:
Alternate hypothesis: Rock Pocket mice have different coat colors that help to their advantage that depend on their location through evolution.
Null hypothesis: Rock Pocket mice don’t have different coat colors that help to their advantage that depend on location through evolution.

The darker mice have a mutated Mc1r gene because they present a darker coat from the light-colored coated mice. This happens because of a mutation in the Mc1r gene that increases the production of eumelanin by melanocytes that then results in a darker coat. This is alternative to the lighter-coat mice who have a lighter coat because their Mc1r gene goes through no mutation resulting in a presence of melanocytes which produce melanin and therefore decrease the production of
Since the mouse is a mammal and its gene worked on the skate, it proves that all genes are build
Sloths are very strange animals with their sluggish behaviors, yet they are very interesting at the same time. Sloths belong to the mammalian order Xenarthra, which also includes armadillos and anteaters. There are two different kinds of sloths, the two-toed and the three-toed sloth. There are four species of three-toed sloths and two species of two-toed sloths. Two of these species of sloth can be found in the tropical forests of Costa Rica, the brown-throated three-toed sloth (Bradypus variegatus) and Hoffmann’s two-toed sloth (Choloepus hoffmanni).
They hide in high trees which will help them survive from other animals, predators. They have one of the darkest brown skin color on their body. Their enemy is jaguars, large birds, snakes, and humans. The only snakes that eat sloths are cobras rattle snake and some pythons.
It is only used for balance, communication, and group cohesion. The skin of the ring-tailed lemur is dark gray or black in color, even in places where the fur is white. Although slight pattern variations in the facial region may be seen between individuals, there are no obvious differences between the sexes. Its fingers are slender, padded, mostly lacking webbing, and semi-dexterous with flat, human-like nails. The thumb is both short and widely separated from the other fingers.
Skin color has created a diverse population in society as we know it. Differences within race among various populations conclude that there was more than one evolutionary event. Today, while we don’t have fossil skin from our African hominin ancestors (Homo erectus), it’s probable that they were dark, as are African populations now. Earlier ancestors may have had lighter skin. Now, take a look at our closest relatives, chimps and gorillas, their skin the actual parts underneath the hair are unpigmented.
I have researched naked mole rats’. The naked mole rat can be found in Africa. They are related to pocket gophers. They have pink skin. They have big beaver teeth.
The species may utilize kangaroo rat burrows and hollows in limestone shelves as shelters; it also resides in black-tailed prairie-dog
My pangrilla lives in the bamboo forest that has a lot of bamboo and trees. My pangrilla has black and white fur so when it's sleeping in the trees it blends in with the thick leaves. The pangrilla fur color is codominant ,white, and black. There are some pangrillas that are only black this shows Generic Version. Generic Version helps the pangrilla survive in its habit because it can live in area of the forest that the tree leafs are bigger and thicker.
How To Get Rid Of Mice In Your House If you hear gnawing or scuttling in your walls at night, you might have a mouse problem. You may also notice a foul odor, see greasy trails, or find rodent droppings around your home. Mice may be cute little animals, but they have no place running loose in your house. They are very destructive, smelly, and they can spread diseases.
There is competition between all species when it comes to resources, and the ability of whether or not they will survive depends on a variety of factors, some include coloration, speed, or ability in vision. The information from his insights led to Darwin’s term of natural selection. Darwin never saw natural selection occurring during his lifetime but doctors in today’s world can view natural selection in the medical labs by looking at virus’ and bacteria growing and living in human
Conservation of the Silky sifaka Possibly the rarest mammal in the world, the Silky simpona, or most commonly known as the Silky sifaka or Propithecus diadema candidus have a small home range in forests with elevations between 4101 ft. and 6152 ft. in north-east Madagascar (Andriaholinirina, Baden, Blanco, et. al and Gron, 2008). The Silky sifaka belongs to the suborder strepsirrhini; due to their wet noses, infraorder lemuriformes; because they are a lemur, and family Indriidea, because they are a type of sifaka. (Gron, 2008). Silky sifakas are approximately 1.6 ft. in body length with their tail being roughly the same length and weigh about 13.2 pounds (Maria Correa, 2013).
Because if black squirrels shiver less in cold weather than grey squirrels, then it means that they are naturally selected to be in colder weathers and that they are going to have higher rates of survival in colder environments
Natural selection was first introduced by Charles Darwin; his studies of finches on the Galapagos Islands showed there are six different requirements for natural selection to occur. These requirements are: a population must reproduce, have genetic inheritance, overabundance of offspring, competition for the same resources, and lastly different variants must have different fitness (Berstrom & Dugatkin, 2012). Adaptations which are produced by natural selection, are features of an organism to survive and reproduce in its environment better than if it did not have that feature (Cotner & Moore, 2011). There are multiple levels of taxonomic hierarchy that natural selection affects. These levels include: gene cells, individuals, kin selection, and
Gene flow has become much more common in humans in the past few centuries due advances in transportation which can bridge the gap between two populations. However, for primitive species, gene flow is not as common because species can be easily separated by things such as bodies of water and mountain ranges. Natural selection is the ability of a species to adapt to its environment in an attempt to increase its fitness. Fitness, in relation to evolution, is the ability of a species to survive and reproduce. Natural selection is the selection of species that have the highest fitness.
Only in the last decade or so has it been realistically possible to address this question experimentally using population genetic approaches. On the basis of earlier studies in mice, and on studies in humans with various Mendelian disorders, many of the genes underpinning population variation in skin color have been identified. More recently, genome-wide approaches have identified other loci that appear to contribute to pigmentary variation. The ability to study sequence diversity from world populations has allowed examination of whether the observed variability is due to random genetic drift or is a result of natural selection. The genetic evidence taken as a whole provides strong evidence for natural selection, functioning so as to increase pigment diversity across the world's populations.
