How Did Richard Nixon Impact On The Environment

Richard Nixon is the 37th president of the United States. His presidential term started from 1964 to 1974. He was a republican. He pursued important foreign policies that gave some tranquility to the United States. He did not only do good actions to this country but also bad.

The relationship between Richard and Pat Nixon wasn’t a very public one but they did support one another and after Watergate they took care of each other before she passed away. Even though she was “rated one of our nation’s most admired women,” not too many people knew about her. Richard fell in love with Pat the first night he met her. This was a overall pretty happy and affectionate marriage. Pat noted that he had a wonderful sense of humor.

Dean’s mother was a strong influence in his life, and her death would impact him greatly. Because Dean was not very fond of his father, after his mother’s death, he moved back to Indiana to live with his aunt and uncle. While living with his aunt and uncle, he attended high school and participated in extracurricular activities such as drama, basketball, and debate. President Nixon is one of the most famous Presidents in American history for being the first one to resign from office. While Nixon is famous for doing such an unthinkable act, he is also the one that gave one of the best and most well known speeches in political history, The Checkers Speech. The speech was given by (Senator at the time) President Nixon when he was running for Vice President on General Eisenhower’s Presidential ticket. A newspaper, the New York Post, had a front page with the headline "Secret Rich Men's Trust Fund Keeps Nixon in Style Far Beyond His Salary"; the article alleged that people were donating to a secret fund that Nixon had for his personal benefit in trade for political favors.

Presidential Power Ronald Reagan served as America’s 40th president. Reagan managed to cut taxes, increase defense spending, negotiate a nuclear arms reduction agreement with the Soviets and is credited with helping to bring a quicker end to the Cold War. I think that president Reagan used his presidential powers properly in order to achieve what needed to be done. Ronald Reagan was president as the Cold War was raging worse than it had ever before. Reagan used his executive power, Commander in Chief, to put up resistance against Mikhail Gorbachev and push his defensive strategy.

Which at first glance looks like a positive thing but once you dive deeper into what his real motives are, it's rather eye opening. Let's start with the war on crime. During this time you had the black panthers who were people fighting for civil rights, people who were fighting for women's rights, and people who were fighting for gay rights. Nixon felt the need to fight against these movements and therefore one was more likely to get arrested for attending these rallies— for committing a crime which really wasn't a crime. He strategically blinded the public to this by calling it "the war on crime".

Writers in the Harlem Renaissance had separated themselves from the isolated white writers which made up the “lost generation” The formation of a new African American cultural identity is what made the Harlem Renaissance and the Lost Generation unique in American culture because it influenced white literacy and it was a sense of freedom for African Americans.

The Great Depression was a time during 1929 to 1939, It was the longest lasting economic disaster. The two presidents in term during this crisis, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Herbert Hoover, approached this problem in different ways. Hoover’s idea on this was to have private citizens help each others, while Roosevelt believed the government should take care of its people with social programs. Looking at these ideas in more depth we can infer ways our country should go. Herbert Hoover served as president during 1929 to 1933.

Because the Supreme court ruled against the president, Richard Nixon was the first president to ever resign from office. Some say because of this political scandal parts of the government were “cleansed” or improved. Some of Nixon's aides were even sent to federal prison. Congress passed laws for campaign financing, government ethics and freedom of information.

Many people believe that Nixon may not be the best candidate for president. There is a great deal of evidence that supports that fact of Nixon being the best person to run our country, which was given in the prior paragraphs. Mr. Nixon had the right mindset, attitude, and background to become our next president. As you can see Richard Nixon only wants the best for our country. All of his policies are supported by facts and most are not biased.

People broke into the Watergate building to wiretap phones and steal secret documents. Nixon knew about the break in before hand and tried to cover it up. When people found out about him trying to cover it up, he decided to resign as president. He gave his speech on August 8th 1974 and resigned on the 9th.

He increased the number of forces in South Vietnam. The war escalated then he decided to not run for reelection. Nixon used the war to his advantage. He promised to find a way to end the Vietnam War, pledging America would have “peace with honor”. Now he had to uphold this promise and implement a plan, but it didn’t work.
