Titanic Persuasive Essay

The USS Indianapolis was a heavy cruiser of the US Navy, named for the city of Indianapolis, Indiana. The sinking of this ship in 1945 led to the greatest single loss of life at sea. The ship was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine and sinks within minutes in shark-infested waters. The sinking of the USS Indianapolis shows the greatest loss of life at sea, what the survivors had to endure before saving and the prosecution of the captain of the USS. The ship was done with its first mission, delivering the world's first operational atomic bomb to the island of Tinian.

World War ll was one of the deadliest and most widespread conflicts in history. It involved the majority of the world's nations, and it is estimated that around 70 million people died as a result. The United States' entry into the war is often attributed to the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan on December 7th, 1941. It led to the United States’ entry in to the World War and ulimately led to the Allies’ victory over the Axis Powers. However, it is reasonable to argue that if Japan never attacked Pearl Harbor, the United States would not have joined the war.

Violence might be the Answer It has been precisely seventy-five years since the incident at Pearl Harbor. Japan dropped bombs on the naval base when Marine corporal E.C. Nightingale was aboard a ship. He recounts, “The explosion rips the ship’s sides open like a tin can starting a fire that engulfs the entire ship. Within minutes she sinks to the bottom taking 1,300 lives with her” (EyeWitness to History). The attack only lasted an hour, but the families of 2,340 military personnel and 48 civilians (NPS) were changed forever.

Despite being deemed unsinkable, the ship sank on its maiden voyage, even though “It was a luxurious passenger liner, which was considered to be unsinkable, due to its double-bottomed hull with sixteen watertight compartments'' (Kaufman, 2002, p. 898). One of the theories suggests that the Titanic never sank, and someone switched it with another White Star Line ship, the R.M.S. Olympic, to reap insurance money. However, there are a lot of holes in this theory, one of the biggest is that the Titanic’s insurance wasn’t enough to cover the Olympics loss. As J. Kent Layton writes in Conspiracies at Sea, “the switch conspiracy founders—quite literally—on its financial merits alone” (Little, 2018, para. 10).

Henry wondered about the interior. He was not disappointed. Henry felt lucky, and proud, as he boarded the ship. He felt lucky, since he was a part of this historic occasion, the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic.

The battle of Pearl Harbor was a brutal surprise attack on the United states Pacific fleet and it was the kickoff point for the US to join World War II. Its something we should never forget. Pearl Harbor was one of the most memorable events in the history of the United states. When Japan attacked the US Pacific fleet it was totally unexpected on this Sunday morning December 7, 194. Japan wanted to attack Pearl Harbor because it was afraid the US would be able to attack from the Pacific.

Approximately three hundred men went down with the ship. Many people either drowned while in a lower part of the ship, or was pulled under with the pressure the ship caused when it sank. Everyone who was lucky, or unlucky, enough to make it out and away from the ship banned together to try and survive. “Water, water, everywhere, and all the boards did shrink; water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink.”

Titanic 1500 people died on the catastrophic night of April 14th, riding the Titanic. The ship had around 2240 people on it and over half perished. Captain Edward Smith was to drive the ship from England to New York. Smith went to school as a child, but dropped out at age 12 to be a sailor. He had sailed a lot of cargo ships, but not many passenger ships.

On April 15 the unsinkable ship went down into the North Atlantic Ocean. I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic by Lauren Tarshis is about the tragedy of the Titanic. I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic is about a 10 year old boy named George. Living in New York, George and his sister, Phoebe, went to England with their Aunt Daisy. They sail home on the ship of the Titanic.

Causes: When the titanic sank to the bottom of the ocean; it was 70 years until the wreckage was found by an expedition that was run by a famous oceanographer. Course: The unsinkable ship was out at sea for 3 days and hit an iceberg and 2 ½ hours to sink everyone was not able to be saved. The lifeboats could have held around 1000 people but only 705 people were saved. 1,500 people died that night.

Dead Wake archives the sinking of the RMS Lusitania of the Cunard line. Our story begins with the great liner docked at Pier 54 in Manhattan in late April of 1915. The liner, Lucy, as her nickname was, needed to be laden with 5,690 tons of coal, enough to propel her across the Atlantic at 24 knots. She was built like a battleship, with her coal bunkers along the hull on the outer edge, this would prove devastating. Captain William Thomas Turner would oversee all this.

The Titanic’s maiden voyage was a disaster because the people didn’t prepare for things like this. Most ships go over a safety procedures, but the Titanic didn’t do such a thing. They only rescued wealthy people, which I felt was wrong. Some passengers jumped off the ship in desperation. Whoever drove the ship couldn’t have been paying attention.

The ship never made it to its final stop. The Titanic sank on April 15th 1912. The Titanic’s hull was the largest man-made movable object in the world. Titanic’s 29 huge boilers powered the ship’s two main engines.

When a person hears the name Steven Spielberg, they immediately think of the blockbuster movies, Jaws, Extra terrestrial Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones etc. However, Spielberg has directed other important films, many of which were selected to be saved by the national film registry like Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan, for their extreme accuracy in the portrayal of important moments and people in history. However, there is still a debate whether Spielberg should  be considered the best director of all time. The answer to this question is obvious , he definitely is  the best as he has directed blockbusters as well historical films where his use of the camera, his choice of actors, music and his attention to detail make him the best director
