The Green River Killer
“I want to prove there are 80 bodies out there, or 85 or whatever (kokomo news).” Found to be one of the most notorious serial killers in the past couple decades, The Green River Killer had most of the world fooled by his friendly personality. With a total of forty-nine bodies already found, with a claim that an forty bodies are still out there. If it wasn’t for the use of DNA, there is a very high chance that Gary Ridgway would still be out killing today. The evolution of DNA testing, subsequently put away the green river killer. Gary Ridgway never had a normal childhood. Born in the year 1949 in the city of Utah, he had been quickly moved to Seattle Washington with his parents. Mary and Tom Ridgway were never the

Gary evolved from a boy obsessed with sexual fantasies, to a teenager who was obsessing over what it would feel like to kill. This obsession first started when he was hunting, and fell in love with the feeling of a kill. Soon the thrill of killing animals wasn’t enough, and he wanted to move on to more aggressive kills. Gary Claims that he has had vivid recollections of drowning a young boy in a lake near his house. Coincidently, public records show of two young boys who had drowned in the lake that same year (Maria Shields).
At about the age of sixteen, is when we learn of Gary’s first confirmed attempt to kill. The year was 1966 (, when Gary led a six year old boy into the woods. The boy remembers being stabbed in the side several times, and looking up at Ridgway asking, “Why did you kill me?” The only real answer that Ridgway gave; was to shrug his shoulders, throw his head back and laugh, and respond by saying, he just wanted to know what it felt like (Seattle Post). The six year old boy survived after a the foot long incision to his liver

Dave had been on the task of tracking Ridgway down the longest out of the members. He had been on the trail for about 21 years. One of his goals, was to was to find comparisons between serial killers. His main motive was to figure out what characteristics they had in common. His research led him to believe mst serial killers had; a sad and pathetic lifestyle, they were unassuming kinds of characters, cunning hunters, and craved control. Reichert took Bundy up on his offer to help however; instead of helping to catch Gary, he took the detectives on a wild goose chase, by using methods he had when he was killing (Sarah Kershaw). The task force had been disbanded in 1998, however had been quickly reassembled when Reichert took office as Sheriff
There is an article called “How to Write a Memoir” by William Zinsser that contains three main pieces of advice, think small, be yourself, and speak freely. I read a book called “Guts” by Gary Paulsen that follows two of these pieces of advice. In chapter two of “Guts” Gary follows Zinsser’s advice on writing as you speak. He talks about the time when the carburetor in the Cessna he was in froze over. The pilot landed the plane on a frozen river covered with snow, as the plane was equipped with wheels and skis.
Gary’s father was Army Air Corps Pilot in 1940’s and 1950’s. Gary’s mother was a thief and at one point it was reported that she tried to kill herself but missed and the bullet hit Gary’s father (Blanco, 2005). In Gary’s childhood, he had been known for trying to tie a
Because of those episodes between him and his mother, he had feelings of anger and sexual attraction toward her and fantasized about killing her. In 1965, when Gary was 16 years old, there was a kindergartener who had been dressed up as a cowboy, playing near his home. Gary tricked him into believing they
When the police were notified, they did the most logical thing and went straight for the contractor that had supposedly offered Robert the job, John Wayne Gacy. The police had told him about the disappearance and asked him to come down to the station for some questions. Gacy refused, but agreed to meet them later on. Gacy gave a statement saying that he had no information about the boys disappearance, and was released immediately with no further questions. However the lead detective in the case was not so sure.
Welcome, Ladies and gentlemen, Gary, or Gary Dunn,to give him his Sunday name, or if he was in trouble, which was a lot, when he was younger, but most just called him Gary. Gary was a son, a brother, big and little, he was a boyfriend then a husband, a dad and a granddad too, but he was also a friend, and he was definitely a bit of a lad. Gary had been many different things to many different people over the years, but today they all have, at least, one thing in common, they will all miss him very much. Gary was a real character, what you saw, with Gary, was what you got, and if you didn’t like it, well, tough, but he was also a loving family man, a dependable man, and a hard working man too, he would never do you a bad turn, but don’t hold your breath waiting for
Who are you today? How did you get to where you are? Was it a terrible experience affected you to become the person you are now? Maybe it was your family or friends. Or how about your environment?
To many, Pogo the Clown was a lovable character who would entertain the community. But, behind the face paint was John Wayne Gacy, an American rapist and murderer, who sexually assaulted and murdered at least thirty-three teenage boys between 1972 and 1978. By this time, the public’s perception of him would be forever changed and he earned the nickname the “Killer Clown”. This report will cover a brief background on John Wayne Gacy, facts of his case, what makes his crime notorious, the law was used in his case and the decision made by the court, the sentence he received, if I think the punishment was fair and the social consequences of his crime. Notorious serial killer, John Wayne Gacy, was born on the 17th March 1942 in Chicago Illinois and died on May 10th 1994 at age 52, at the Statesville Correctional Centre, Crest Hill, Illinois.
Gacy was unable to fit into the conventional ideals for a young boys growing up: he was overweight, extremely unathletic, and an immigrant. Relentless bullies along with an alcoholic and physically and emotionally abusive father left him feeling alone, unwanted, yet determined to get his fathers validation. Doctors discovered a blood clot in his brain, which caused him to experience black outs and seizures (Bell and Bardsley). Modern biological studies have shown that seventy percent of patients who endured trauma to the brain, became more aggressive and irritable (Babic, 2016). In light of Gacy’s numerous strikes to the head, performed by his father, it is fair to conclude that he probably was injured.
Even though the immediate cause that drove Gacy to initially kill was witnessing a teenage boy holding a raised knife; his lust for power over young males and gratification in the act of murder intensified, he broke the hearts of every parent, relative, and friend of the deceased. Also, he completely betrayed his community by getting the adults and children to trust him as a fun-loving clown. Consequently, Gacy instilled immense fear in the Chicago community and any household that televised this horrific
Gary Paulsen once said, “School didn't work for me. I hated it.” This shows that even someone as well known as Gary Paulsen had trouble in school. Paulsen gives hope to the kids who aren’t doing well in school. Paulsen is a well known youth author.
Emily Decius Sociology 361 Term Paper November 16, 2017 Of the many serial killers that have terrorized the nation throughout history, there are a few that stand out from the rest, one being Theodore Bundy. He became much more famous than others, and his story is rather interesting but has been constantly changed and promoted by the media. In total, it is estimated that Bundy murdered anywhere between 36 to 100+ victims, and there are still many bodies that have not been found (Sullivan, 2009). Bundy had always seemed to be a somewhat normal person through his younger years, and it seemed to most people like he would be successful in life (Sullivan, 2009). He excelled in school, attended college, and at one point even enrolled in law school (Sullivan, 2009).
Sexuality played a huge part in why Gacy killed 33 young men and boys. Gacy married two women and was engaged on two different occasions In an interview Gacy said that he was married twice, engaged two other times,
To add the cherry on top, Bundy would have sex with the dead women; finally, storing their decapitated heads as souvenirs. “When you work hard to do something right, you don’t want to forget it."’. This was Bundy’s response when reporters asked why he kept the heads (Burke). Bundy, the “animalistic killer” Would sink his teeth into his victims (Burke). This gave police just enough evidence to track down the victim's
In the Stephen King short story, The Man in The Black Suit, the narrator Gary recounts an experience from his childhood that scared him permanently. When he was nine, Gary was tormented and stalked though the woods by the devil, who manifested himself after Gary wandered into the woods. During their interaction, the Devil lies to Gary and says that his mother just died at home. The Devil claimed that Gary’s mother was killed in a similar way that his brother, Dan, was also killed not too long ago, as she was apparently stung by a bee and is dead in his kitchen. Gary knows the Devil is a liar but finds it difficult to resist believing him.
Carlton Gary’s criminal activities begin as far back as 1969 when he was first arrested and charged with the firebombing of a grocery store in Gainesville. After a short stint in prison Gary was later arrested and charged with burglary, grand theft auto, assault of an officer, drug possession, possession with intent to sell, armed robbery. In May of 1970, Marion Brewer an elderly Caucasian female was attacked and robbed in her hotel room in Albany, New York. Eighty-five year old Nellie Farmer was robbed and strangled to death in her nearby apartment two months following the Brewer case, after a third elderly Caucasian woman was assaulted Carlton Gary arrested as it was discovered that a fingerprint left at the crime scene of Nellie Farmer was
