Daijha McCrae 9W October 8th The Renaissance was a time noted for a "rebirth" of learning. the Renaissance is described as a reentrance into the world. It gave a rebirth of classical learning and a rediscovery of Greece and Rome. Many advances were made in fields of literature, arts and science. Things such as literature, the arts, and science helped during the Renaissance to contribute advancement of the human society. Renaissance literature refers to European literature. About 1280 C.E. a new distinct era, the Renaissance, arose and replaced the turbulent and dark Middle Ages. This new era brought unique ideas and a rebirth of Greek and Roman cultures. Universities and schools were founded for learning, Renaissance people were well rounded in studies, and enlightenment thinkers of the time held strong beliefs that there was a Renaissance. From its beginnings in Italy, the Renaissance spread throughout Europe, and furthermore differencing Renaissance Europeans from the religious medieval people.
To start, the Freedom of the Press is so important in America that it is the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. In addition the people of the nation at this time were well educated and well read. This free press, educated society combined with the citizens’ desire to become involved within it meant there was more demand than ever for newspapers. These factors meant that the number of different newspapers in the United States increased from 31 in 1775 to 1,200 in 1835, with the number more than tripling between 1810 and 1835 (Document G).

Study of the classicals, mostly the Greco-Romans, were increasingly popular among the people of Europe; humanism was then starting to take shape. In the Renaissance the values and purposes of education was emphasized by humanists, who wants to use it to improve society, economic increased, and above all, to be able to restore religious beliefs.
The Medieval Ages were a time where many things like romance, art, music, poetry, disease and death all thrived. Everyone in this time period had a different point of view on it. Some thought it was a golden age, some thought it was an age of feudalism, and some also thought it was a dark age. Yes, this time may have had its ups, but it also had many, many downs. Its darkest times consisted of Barbarian invasions, death, and wars.
The printing press lead to a scientific change, because now people could record what worked and what didn't and test new ideas. In my opinion, the Renaissance could never have occurred without being able to spread ideas throughout cities and countries. Without knowledge, you can't get far, so the printing press has to be on of the most important inventions. Also, the printing press made it easy for people to record activities and ideas. So without this invention, we might not have known everything about that time
The middle ages brought very few books because the monks would spend month’s hand writing copies of religious writings which made the books immensely expensive. Document B states that “Man think sin in the beginning full sweet, which in the end causeth thy soul to weep, when the body lieth in clay” (Doc B) that means that if you were to commit a sin it will catch up to you in the future and you will have to pay the price. That quote basically sums up the thought on how the middle ages worked. The difference on how literature changed the way man thought during the renaissance was because people realized they didn’t have to always right about religion, they were open to write about anything they wanted to which made them smarter and important. Science during the renaissance played a big impact on how people looked at the universe and the environment we live in.

New thinking about humans being the most significant rather than religious figures would have been unheard of in the Middle Ages, but now in this new period, the world has begun to accept this. These new ideas led to them being present in art, leading to a new beginning for art. In “The Last Days of the Renaissance & The March to Modernity” by Theodore Rabb, he discovers that what occurred in the Renaissance changed art permanently. He said, “The new artistic styles would echo the broader movements and interests of the new age ....
The Renaissance was a period of time approximately between the 14th and 17th centuries. This period changed the way people looked at their culture and that helped revive European art, literature and architecture. Many people gained a thirst for new knowledge which led to an era of exploration, the Renaissance. An extremely significant person of the Renaissance period was Shakespeare, who wrote many famous plays and sonnets. These terrific achievements of Shakespeare's impacted greatly on the English language and changed the way of theatre.
