People were affected by the new ideas that emerged throughout the Renaissance in both positive and harmful ways, these ideas eventually sparked the Protestant Reformation. Renaissance Europe was the rebirth of classical ideas from Greece and Rome. Historians have identified that the main sources of the European Renaissance beginning were the emergence of humanism, different artistic and technological innovations, and the impacts of conflict and death. Many beneficial ideas and inventions came out of the Renaissance that are still relevant and have evolved over time such as the printing press, pendulum, and the re-introduced study of humanism. A piece of evidence that supports my claim is “Francesco Petrarch one of the first Renaissance thinkers re-introduced the study of humanism. He collected ancient Greek and Roman texts that had been lost after the fall of Rome. Humanism was a way of thinking that differed from the middle ages people began to question what it means to be human.” (Source 2 Historical Context) This piece of evidence shows that when the re-introduced idea of humanism was brought to the people during the Renaissance, it was very influential at the time, but people were still not fully on board with the new idea. The Renaissance encouraged people to increase their interest in learning and question their lives and the Church, which in turn triggered the advent of the Reformation that questioned the validity of the Roman Catholic Church.
